About: Hi I have experienced with all size dog and breed through my veterinary assistance experience. I also have a Black Lab her name is Lisa, and she is turning four years old. I am a full time student at Cornell. I have a back yard for puppy play time. I take boarding, sitting, and walking as long as the schedule fits. Also I can do same day appointment to support our pet parents. I have fenced yard. Extra leashes and harness. We are in a dog friendly neighborhood. My dog is 80lb so I can handle dog who pull and large size.

About: For the past 10 years, I've cared for my own pets as well as friends' dogs, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of needs. I'm comfortable with senior dogs, administering medication, and managing high-energy puppies, along with dogs of every size. I treat every pet with the same patience and attention I'd give my own! Hi! My name is Elena. I am an undergraduate student at SUNY Cortland studying environmental geoscience. I am currently finalizing my fall schedule and once it’s done, I will update my calendar :) I have both a dog and a cat of my own, so I'm comfortable with both species' needs and routines. When caring for clients' pets, I always follow their specific instructions including feeding times, leash habits, crate routines, medications, and any other house rules. Safety and consistency for the pet always come first! :)

About: I have had dogs and cats since I was a kid and have always enjoyed looking after and caring for animals. My girlfriend and I don't have any pets at the moment and have been housing our friends pets when they are traveling. Hoping to offer our comfortable house to other pets while their people are traveling! I currently work from 9-5 a short bus ride from my house. I have a lot of flexibility to go home for lunch during the day and check on our house guests. On the weekends we are usually around the house and enjoy going for walks along the gorge trails. We have a three-quarters fenced in backyard for quality fetch time and a large house for the pets to roam in. We have a very open living and dining room for running around and chasing toys! When I visit houses to check on pets I like to stay and play with them for a bit. Make sure they are comfortable and getting some fun in during the day!
“Rose was super! Very communicative both before and during care, very organized, friendly, responsible and reassuring. I have a range of pets with various needs, and she cared for both the dog and cat so wonderfully. I felt very secure knowing Roae was taking care of my fur babies. I also appreciated all the updates and photos. Highly recommend Rose!”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs and cats my whole life but only sitting for 4 years! I love animals and am always looking forward to learning more. I’m a Cornell student and only have classes for 4 hours M-Th. With this schedule it is easy to take pets on walks, drop by and check on them, and make sure they get all the care and attention they deserve! I always leave things the way I found them if not better! Including living spaces and animals. I always want to make sure I keep someone’s area clean and make sure I keep someone’s animal safe and happy while with me!
About: Hello, I am an active individual who likes being out in nature and exploring the local outdoor areas. I would enjoy the opportunity to help care for your pet and would enjoy the company as well. I am employed full time as a PhD student at Cornell and am seeking a side job that I could enjoy as much as my current job. I live by myself in a quiet, smoke-free home with no other animals or children. I am in a pedestrian-friendly area with excellent scenery for walking. Because much of my work schedule is flexible, I will have time throughout the day to take care and spend time with your pet. I also have more availability on weekends. As an animal lover, I like to interact with dogs through play (tossing a ball, playing tug-of-war with a toy, running around outside) and relaxing with them and giving them pets.
“I was worried about leaving my pups with anyone!! But then Chris stops by for my meet and greet and assured my that all would be great. I'm a mother of school aged children and I have a very flexible schedule including day,evening,and weekend hours. Short notice requests can usually be accomodated. I'm very comfortable reading animal body language. I have a very people/dog friendly dog who loves to join in on a walk if your dog would like the company.

About: I've chosen to be a full-time dedicated pet caregiver and answer my calling! If you choose me to care for your pet, I will always feel honored and give your pets my absolute best! I give individualized attention to each animal according to their needs, wants, personalities. My goal is always to bond and make a friendly connection to become their new best buddy! You can rest assured that your babies are in the most excellent, capable, dedicated, loving care and have complete peace of mind! You can count on me to prioritize safety, security and love. My experience goes well beyond basic feeding and walks. I’ve cared for puppies, energetic young dogs, senior pets, large breeds, cats, multiple-pet households, and animals requiring extra patience or special attention. I’m comfortable administering medications, following detailed care instructions, and caring for injured or recovering animals, so you can feel reassured that your pet’s individual needs will be carefully followed. I’ve also cared for horses, goats, chickens, ducks, other farm animals, livestock, exotic pets and more! Over the years, I’ve helped animals that were lost, injured, neglected, or simply needed someone to care, including personally rescuing and nursing animals back to health. I've organized and held fundraisers for non-profits, volunteered much of my time at shelters and behavioral therapy/training spaces, as well as fostered many cats and dogs until their forever person comes along. I’m always committed to providing patient, compassionate support. Pet care is already a natural part of my daily life and something I intentionally make time for. My schedule is built around providing dependable, attentive care for the animals entrusted to me. I plan my days carefully around each pet’s established routine, including feeding times, walks, potty breaks, medications, playtime, companionship, and any special instructions their family provides. I understand how important consistency can be, especially for senior pets, puppies, pets taking medication, or animals who may feel anxious when their family is away. I believe pets are most comfortable when their familiar routines are kept as consistent as possible, so I follow each family’s instructions carefully and tailor my care to the individual pet. That includes feeding, fresh water, walks and potty breaks, medications, playtime, exercise, and plenty of affection or quiet companionship—whatever makes your pet happiest and most secure. I pay close attention to behavior, appetite, energy level, and anything that seems unusual. Safety is always a priority, including securely checking doors, gates, leashes, and the home before I leave. I also provide updates and photos so you can relax knowing how your pets are doing while you’re away. Just as importantly, I understand that I’m a guest in your home. I respect your property, belongings, privacy, and personal space, clean up after myself and your pets, and strive to leave your home just as you left it—or better. My goal is for you to return to happy, well-cared-for pets and a home that has been treated with the same care and respect I would want for my own.

Gwen was amazing. Very precise and responsive, she gave us a much needed peace of mind while we were away. She was capable of understanding the cats' different moods and adapt her care accordingly: were they more playful? Let's play! More affectionate? Pet time! Thanj you Gwen for your help!

I can not begin to describe how amazing it was to have Nichole watch my pup. She was friendly, reliable, punctual, and flexible. It was clear my girl was very well taken care of while I was gone. Nichole was able to accommodate for changes in my trip dates and was available very last minute. She maintained excellent communication and I could tell she really enjoyed spending time with my pup. I was nervous to leave my dog while on vacation and within a day I felt fully confident that my dog would be taken care of, as if I was home the whole time. I will absolutely be utilizing her setvices in the future and I can't thank her enough!

Karina consistently goes above and beyond, and we truly couldn’t ask for better care for our pup. Knowing she’s looking after him gives us such genuine peace of mind whenever we’re away. We’re so grateful to have someone so dependable, thoughtful, and attentive—we highly recommend her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
