About: What sets me apart is my real-life, daily experience caring for two dogs with different personalities and needs. I’m patient, attentive, and confident handling everything from playful energy to anxious behavior. I’m also familiar with basic training, have experience with feeding routines, giving medications, and caring for senior dogs. I treat every pet like family and always prioritize their comfort, safety, and happiness. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine since I already care for my own two dogs every day. Between walks, playtime, and feeding, I’ve built my schedule around making sure they’re happy and well cared for. Even with my part time job, I make sure to stay organized and flexible so I can give each pet the time, attention, and love they need. In my home, I make sure pets have a safe, clean, and comfortable space to relax, play, and feel at ease. I stick to their usual routines as close as possible, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, or playtime. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of their space and follow all instructions carefully, making sure their pet feels secure and cared for while they’re away. I definitely focus on building trust with both the pet and the owner.

About: I am currently only accepting hypoallergenic dogs for boarding and doggy daycare! These include but are not limited to: Bichon, Poodles (or any doodle), Yorkies, Maltese, and Schnauzer. I own two dogs, one is a young Miniature Goldendoodle that I have had since she was a couple of months old, and the other is a senior Toy Poodle that I have had since she was 5 years old. I have 10 years of experience caring for animals and always research how to best care for the animal in question. I have 2 years of experience with professional pet sitting. I am currently a student living at home, so I have plenty of time to care for pets, especially since I care for my own. I am available most of the week, every week. My yard is unfenced; however, we do have a chicken-wire fence in the backyard for my own dog, who has plenty of space to run around and play. We have lots of toys for your fur baby, and a kind and playful dog to keep your fur baby company. I can crate small dogs, but do not have large enough crates for large or medium dogs. If caring for your pet at your home, I can ensure your fur baby gets lots of playtime and walks.
“Payton did an amazing job walking our sweet Polly, even though Polly was hiding and reluctant to walk at first. We would recommend Payton to anyone looking for a reliable, caring dog walker!”

“Kyrstin was amazing with Hunter. As soon as she met Hunter she knew how to work with him. Very professional and pleasant personality. On time and good communication.”

About: I've had cats and dogs my entire life and, for the first time, find myself without any pets. I have an abundance of ear scratches, belly rubs, and snuggles just waiting for pets who are missing their people. My husband and I both work from home with flexible schedules so are available for frequent potty breaks, walks, and playtime. We also have two children, 8 and 11, who both grew up with dogs and cats and are experienced and comfortable with both. Your pet will be the only one in our home, so they will get lots of attention, playtime, and snuggles! We have a big house that pets are free to explore and where they can make themselves at home. We also have an unfenced 3-acre backyard that connects to a path through the woods - your dog can enjoy a daily hike through the forest, smelling the many interesting smells and splashing in the creek if so desired. And we live on a cul-de-sac in a residential area perfect for safe neighborhood walks. If you are looking for someone who loves dogs and is responsible and loving to take care of your pups when you're not around, please reach out! Please note: 1. All dogs must be fully potty trained, neutered or spayed, vaccinated, and on flea and tick preventative. All pets must be comfortable with children. 2. Drop off time: 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Pick up time: 7:30 am to 9:00 pm 3. Things to bring: a. Bed or blanket or crate, whichever your pet prefers. b. Food and treats, along with feeding instructions. “Laura is amazing!!!! She walked my skittish labradoodle, and it was clear my dog was fully at ease with Laura. She was timely, communicated well, and sent photos. Would highly recommend her to any dog owner!”

“Pilar has walked our girls a couple times now and she does a great job! She is dependable and always follow up with any relevant information for us about the walk or our girls. Also, our dogs seem to really love her! We would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone, and we’ll be booking her again!”

About: I have taken care of dogs for a few years now and decided I want to help those in need of a dog sitter and some training. I’m a nurse and work 3 days a week and looking to dog sit or walk on my days off. My schedule is pretty flexible so I can switch my days around if needed. I have an American Bully named Milo who is 10 months old. He loves meeting new dogs and is very friendly. I have a small fenced yard but I will take my puppy on walks at least 2-3 times a day. Because Milo is still a puppy having another dog will also help his energy levels.

About: I am a young working professional in Gaithersburg. I have had a dog since 11 years old but fell in love with dogs more recently. After my own pup passed, I began dog sitting for many dogs in my neighborhood. I too like to go on long walks and find dogs to be the perfect companion. If I am trusted with your pup, rest assured that I will spoil them with lots of love, snuggles, walks, and pup cups. I love to take local walking trails in Gaithersburg. I have taken care of small dogs (french bulldog, bichon), and big dogs (poodle, lab) and in between. I also have experience in caring for dogs of all ages, 1 year to 14 years. I have basic training knowledge but am trying to learn more. I currently work in the evening times and am at home during the day during the week until 3pm. I can handle anything from 6am-3pm and 10pm-12am. Anything outside of that schedule can be accommodated upon request. I have some other days off and more flexibility if needed. I live in a walkable neighborhood with lots of greenery to talk your pups out. For boarding, I live in a home with 2 other adults and a 10 year old but no other pets. We prefer to meet any dogs either for a public or home visit before agreeing to boarding. We do not have a fenced in yard nor is it very big, for potty breaks we usually take the dog out on the leash out front.
About: I’ve grown up with dogs then owned two blue heelers: one hearing and one deaf. Happy to take good care of your sweet doggies and that you can relax while you are away. I work from home and have a super flexible schedule. I have a doggy door and a fenced yard, and nice trail for long walks. Will invite your doggie(s) as part of our routine and happy to walk more than once a day- will give attention and be sure your dog is happy and comfortable

About: I’ve always taken care of my friends and neighbors dogs when they go away for vacation or work. I enjoy caring after dogs because they brighten up my day. I am also getting a Doberman myself in less than a month and I would like to extend my affiliation with more pups before taking on my own baby! I am currently on a gap semester so I am pretty flexible for this half of the year. I will be returning to school next year. I don’t find taking care of them a chore or even much of a responsibility at all because it brings me so much joy to be able to socialize and connect with such adorable babies
“Monats was super helpful and really came through for our pup during a schedule pinch! She took excellent care of Rosie and was very on top of making sure Rosie’s care requirements were met. And I really appreciated her experience and diligence in catching and thwarting my dogs attempts to eat sticks and mulch even though I had forgotten to warn in advance!”

“I only had Doc for a month before I needed a reliable and professional walker who I could trust. Marc is the perfect fit! Doc is skittish at times but he warmed up to Marc almost instantly. He's punctual and always sends a few pictures of the walk. I definitely recommend him!”

About: I have taken care of my own dog since I was young, and since her passing I have routinely dogsit for friends and family. My childhood right-paw-man was a Beagle mix, and so I love to handle hounds who sniff first & think later (as well as distract them with Pupperoni…). I took care of her in her old age, so I have some experience in dropping medicine on the floor and pretending it’s a delectable morsel so dogs devour it! I also have handled plenty of bark-happy dogs, and like to bring treats on all my walks to incentivize more calmer adventures. I am currently in a partly asynchronous grad school program, and I’d love to spend my very flexible time taking healthy (and frequent) breaks from studying to care for your pet! I’m excited to adapt to fur-parents’ homes and needs! I’m comfortable crating pets, supervising outdoor time in fenced yards, and being attentive to your pets’ body language while inside their home.
“We’re so glad we found Alyssa. She was easy-going and stayed in great communication throughout, which meant a lot to us. Aoife and Klay can be a little particular and don’t always warm up to new people quickly, but Alyssa handled them effortlessly and they clearly adored her. It’s a relief to know they were in such good hands. We’d book her again in a heartbeat and recommend her without hesitation.”

“Victor is great with my dog Marcie! She can sometimes be wary of strangers but she liked him immediately. He is very conscientious and kind. Victor will take good care of your pets.”
“I needed someone to come for a drop-in and watch on pretty short notice. Jessica responded very quickly and was willing to come over the very same day for a meet and greet. She was very sweet with our dog and he immediately liked her. On the day of the drop-in she came exactly on time, took Comet for a nice walk and made sure he had a full bowl of water before she left. Very happy with Jessica's service and look forward to booking her again.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life. Having pets myself, my oldest dog being 11, I have experience in taking care of senior dogs but I also have a 3 y/o and have raised puppies myself so I am aware of everything that requires a young pup to a senior. I’m working part-time because of college so I would love to enjoy some more time with dogs!!! I am home almost everyday and don’t usually go out so I love being at home with my doggy’s! I have two friendly dogs, 1 a senior pup so he isn’t much involved and another 3 year old who loves meeting new friends and he needs friends to play with!! I also have a small fenced backyard which my dogs use to always go outside
About: I have had pets in my family even before i was born, and ever since then my passion for animals has been nothing but strong. I currently have a dog, two indoor cats, and two outdoor cats. I love spending time with animals, learning their personalities, and forming a bond with them. I am very enthusiastic and can definitely keep your pet occupied, there are lots of pet toys around my home for them to enjoy, and some playmates too! I currently work part time so my availability is pretty open. I am available most days, especially weekdays. I am also more than willing to provide pet care services on Holidays. I have an acre of fenced in backyard, but have no problem leashing your dog if they could hop the fence. My dog is very friendly with other dogs his size, so he will be happy to play! Please be aware, we are not a 100% smoke-free household, however, we do keep smoking restricted to a single ventilated room that our pets (and yours) do not have access to.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - North Potomac
Katie has provided phenomenal care for Paige. She communicates well and is always prompt, reliable, and kind. She has been a godsend, not only with respect to affording me the ability to more easily adjust to new work schedules despite having to leave Paige at home, but also in enabling us to feel secure in knowing Paige is in incredibly competent and compassionate hands. Most importantly, Paige loves Katie. On several occasions, I have had to work from home but did not cancel the walks and observed Paige run to the front door when Katie comes in (she doesn’t even do that with me!). Thanks, Katie!

Kristin did a wonderful job taking care of our two girls! She was communicative and kind, and really got along with our girls and their friendly, boisterous personalities. We felt very comfortable having her take care of them, and definitely will be reaching out to have her back when we need someone!

- 89% of walkers can help with special care needs

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
