“If Manju is available, book her! She was our house sitter and pet sitter for 17 days and we could not have been happier. She sent pictures and videos of our pets everyday and gave updates daily. “Jeffrey saved the day with our anxious pup during a recent stay - while helping us sort out a FedEx delivery AND a problem with our deadbolt! He goes far above and beyond anything one should expect from a sitter and delivered amazing care for our dog who needed to be coaxed into eating and drinking while we were away. He’s also a great communicator who will keep you informed and share lots of pet photos and videos. Recommend Jeffrey highly, but please leave some time on his schedule for us! 😂 He’s a keeper!”

About: I was a professional pet care provider for almost 2 years, servicing dogs, cats, reptiles, and fish. I have had pets most of my life, I grew up in a home with 3-5 doberman at any given time so I'm comfortable and familiar with big dogs. I have been helping my partner care for their tropical and freshwater fish as well as their reptiles for many years now. I am also a proud cat owner of 7 years. So I have a large amount of experience with many types of animals! I am currently a full-time student, school is very important to me right now but animals are a close second. Outside of classes (which of course, has schedule changes every semester) I am very free to care for your animals. I am comfortable with early morning and late nights. I cannot house your pets at my home, but while I am with your fuzzy family members at your homes/in your neighborhoods I will ensure they receive the utmost care, respect, and love! I will follow all the rules and guidelines you have with your animals as well as take extra precautions to guarantee excellent care is given to your babies.
“Keara was amazing with our two dogs. She was professional and gave many updates and treated our dogs with so much love. She was an amazing sitter and we will certainly be hiring her again to care for our two dogs while we are away.”

“Jessica was a terrific pet and house sitter!! She was very attentive to our dogs' needs and went the extra mile to accommodate our schedule. She came early, stayed late and left the house in perfect condition. The fact that her day job involves working remotely was an added bonus. Our pups were well cared for, happy and healthy. We will definitely be using Jessica again.”

“Addie was wonderful! She agreed to a last-minute booking and was flexible when our plans changed. Our dog Monty was well cared for; we will definitely be booking again!”

About: Hello! My name is Shanice and I would love to take care of your fur baby! I have been taking care of animals specifically dogs ever since I was young. I have a dog of my own that I had ever since he was a puppy and he is 11 years old now so we basically grew up together. Not only I take care of a dog at home I also work with dogs on a daily basis. I work at a dog daycare facility so I feed, monitor, and train. I also work at a vet hospital where I help with the sick animals so you can see that animals are my life. If you have me looking after your fur babies I can guarantee that they are in the best hands. I am available for boarding on Sundays from 2pm to 5am. Wednesday from 2pm to anytime you want. I am also available on Thursdays openly. First I will make sure that they are well fed and well hydrated especially during the summer and have some quality playtime. If you allow me to bathe your pet I will to make sure they are all clean and comfortable.
“Taje was so amazing caring for our three dogs for a week. She sent daily pictures and communicated as much or as little as we wanted every day. We had special circumstances where one dog had to be consistently separated from another, and she handled that special situation with professionalism and expertise. Our house was cleaner than we left it (amazing considering how much our dog sheds!), and we had not one worry while we were away. We plan to use Taje again anytime we leave our house in the future!!”

Mia took excellent care of our big goldendoodle and our house while we were out of town. She provided regular updates with pictures and was really mindful about the heat and storms and other issues that tend to effect our pup. She left the house in great shape, too! We would definitely hire Mia to watch our dog again.

We rebook Jony anytime we can…his care for our animals (dog, cat, chinchilla, and fish) and communication to us is exceptional. We recently adopted a new cat and his expertise helped us learn a few new things. We have booked him for staying at our home as well as daily drop-ins. Would highly recommend Jony.

Jessica was amazing with our cats and really easy to work with. She went above and beyond, spending a lot of extra time at the house which we really appreciated—it gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. The cats were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for when we got back. Would absolutely book her again and hope she would choose to work with us again too!

Ivan took such great care of my dogs while I was out of town, and I truly felt at ease knowing they were with him! From the start, he was communicative, responsible, and clearly experienced with dogs. He made the effort to understand their routines and personalities, which meant a lot to me. While I was away, he kept me updated with pictures and made sure they were comfortable, safe, and well cared for. When I picked them up, they were happy, relaxed, and clearly had been treated with patience and kindness. It’s not easy to leave your dogs behind, but Ivan made the whole experience stress-free. I’m really grateful for the care he gave them! Highly recommend!
Tatiana stayed in our home and took care of Zoey in a way that truly touched our hearts. Zoey needed both oral medication and ointment while we were away, and Tatiana handled everything with incredible patience, gentleness, and consistency. What meant the most to us was the bond she formed with Zoey — from the photos and updates, it was clear Zoey felt completely comfortable with her, cuddling up and happily following her around. Knowing our dog felt safe, loved, and relaxed gave us so much peace of mind. Tatiana followed Zoey’s routine carefully, kept us thoughtfully updated, and treated her with genuine affection, not just responsibility. She also took wonderful care of our home and left everything clean and well organized. We came home to a very happy, calm dog and a well-cared-for home. We would trust her again without hesitation — the connection she formed with Zoey truly meant everything to us.

I cannot say enough good things about Mary. She stayed at our home while caring for our dog and my son’s cat, and she took exceptional care of both of them. From the start, Mary was friendly, engaging, and genuinely wonderful to work with. She clearly loves animals, and it showed in every interaction. Mary kept us completely at ease by sending pictures and regular updates, which meant so much to us while we were away. Our pets were happy, relaxed, and clearly adored her, and our home was well cared for as well. It is such a relief to find someone you can fully trust, and Mary is exactly that person. I would 100 percent recommend Mary to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive pet sitter. We will absolutely be using Mary again. If you need a pet sitter, look no further. Mary is truly the best.

I cannot say enough wonderful things! My dog can be quite finicky with people, and he literally jumped up to greet her immediately upon meeting her. She was so responsive and sent me cute videos and pics to show me how much fun they were having. He was such a happy boy when I returned. In addition, my house was immaculate. Lingshan went above and beyond, and I can give her my highest recommendation. I truly felt confident that my little guy was being well take care of while I was away. Thank you so much! -Holly

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Potomac walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Potomac maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Potomac choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
