“Askley dog sitted at our house for the weekend. She was very responsive to initial inquiry as well as continued communication. She was professional yet very friendly and asked appropriate questions about our dogs . Our dogs are quite a handful but she developed a fast relationship with them. She sent pictures and brief update daily. So glad we found an amazing caregiver thru Rover!”

“Samantha was phenomenal! She provided great communication and provided good updates with my dog. She took amazing care of him. I had her housesitting for me and she was extremely respectful of my apartment as well. I would absolutely have Samantha help me out again!”

“Mary is a very responsible sitter. She had great communication and left me very detailed notes of Gracie’s schedule while I was away to let me know that Gracie was very well taken care of. I would highly recommend Mary.”

About: I’ve had animals for my entire life and have learned how to take care of them since I was a kid. Throughout the course of my life I’ve had about 8 dogs and over 20 cats. My mom is also a foster parent for a local rescue so she’s had about 100 animals come through her home over the past few years that I’ve been able to interact with and help take care of. All breeds and ages as well :) I’m currently a graduate student and working part time, but my schedule can be flexible as long as there are a few days advanced notice. My weekends can also be flexible, with notice. I will not be taking care of pets in my home, as I don’t have a fenced in yard and also have two cats that aren’t very friendly to visitors. I am committed to keeping your pets safe and following whatever rules or routines you have in place for your pets, as well as provide updates and pictures while I’m caring for your pet.
“Tatyana is a reliable and caring sitter. She stayed at our house with our 11.5-year-old German Shepherd and provided excellent care, and tremendous peace of mind for us. Having worked at a kennel previously, she is comfortable around all types of dogs (and ours is a big boy). She sent periodic updates and followed our instructions well. We highly recommend her for short or extended care.”

“We feel so lucky to have found Travis - he is so responsible, conscientious, and fantastic with our dog. We have had him sit for us a few times now and will continue to request his services as often as possible! Our house gives him two thumbs, and two paws up!”

“Jen was great with my dog. Super attentive, sent me pictures and updates every day, and left my apartment in great condition. I would definitely use her services again.”

“It was so nice knowing that Autumn was with Greyson while I was away. She took care of things and was thoughtful in sending pictures of Greyson. He appeared to be acting normal and not hiding away like I thought he might. So glad to have Autumn’s care.”

“I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Elizabeth. She was so diligent about following Gus's routine, so great about keeping us updated on how things were going, and above all SO kind and understanding of our pups needs as a spicy/reactive dog. She left me completely at ease and able to relax on our trip. I am so glad we've found her and that our baby has someone he will not just be comfortable with, but excited to spend time with while we are gone!”

“I don’t know how to adequately express how grateful we are that we hired Stella. If you want the short version without the saga: Stella is THEE best dog sitter EVER. I will hire her again and again!! Smudge loved her immediately at our meet and greet, and we felt completely comfortable leaving him with her. Then, just before our trip, Smudge had X-rays on his leg and became very sick afterward. We were worried sick. I had Stella come over a second time so I could walk her through the probiotics and instructions from our vet, hoping he would be back to himself in a few days. We had to leave the next day. What happened after we left was something none of us could have imagined, and I cannot imagine what we would have done if Stella hadn’t been the person caring for him. She tried everything to get Smudge to eat and kept us regularly updated on how he was doing. When she became concerned that he wasn’t improving, she proactively told us she thought he needed to go to the emergency vet. She packed his bed into her car so he’d be comfortable and took him. When the first treatment of fluids and anti-nausea medication didn’t work, she took him back to the ER, where he ultimately had to be hospitalized. Stella took a day off work to care for him. When Smudge came home, she dealt with vomit and accidents, did laundry, cleaned up after him and continued caring for him through all of it. She never once complained or made us feel like any of this was an inconvenience. And after Smudge finally started getting better, Stella herself got sick. She cared for our boy as though he were her own dog. She advocated for him when he needed more care, and I truly believe she saved his life. You would be crazy not to hire this amazing human to care for your pets. Stella is 100% part of our family now. If she ever needs anything from us, I hope she knows she can ask. We will never forget what she did for Smudge, and we will be forever grateful to her.”

“Julia was so pleasant and professional! She asked great questions to prepare for her time with Princeton, and you could tell she really cared - Princeton warmed up to her immediately :) I highly recommend Julia and would definitely hire her again!”

“Samantha did such a great job caring for my dog and my home while I was out of town. She gave me updates letting me know when she arrived and when she left. I didn't worry about the wellbeing of my dog during my entire trip. My place was just the way I had left it. She probably left it a little cleaner. lol. I'd definitely use her services again next time I need a sitter. Thanks Sam!!! ?”
“Tucker did a great job watching Zoe & Mocha - regularly sent photos, provided updates from each visit, and was very communicative in providing care.”

“Sierra was fantastic! She saved us when our planned arrangement fell through and was very caring and responsible with our anxious poodle. When he got sick from worry she took him to the vet, gave him lots of extra care, and even organized a playdate with a new friend they met at the dog park. Definitely went above and beyond!”

“We did a trial overnight for an upcoming vacation with Morgan and things could not have gone any better. Very relieved with how well my somewhat picky dogs did with her and how everything was left. It's great peace of mind for our future trip to know my babies will be in good hands!”

“Audrey is the best! We have 2 dogs and one has anxiety so she doesn’t do well in the kennel. Audrey was able to ‘win her over’ and keep her calm and relaxed which is no easy task. We already booked another weekend with Audrey?”

We could not be happier with the care Samantha provided Harley while we were out of town for a couple of nights. Our dog was under the weather and Samantha graciously handled medication and extra trips outside. She was very communicative and shared helpful updates. I highly recommend her for in home overnight care.

Katie was an amazing sitter for our 20 week old puppy, Hutch. She kept him to a schedule that ensured the right amount of rest for his growing limbs and plenty of engagement for his growing brain and social skills. We came home to a happy, healthy boy. She was so great about updating us on his day and introducing him to neighbors. She also kept an eye on the house, kindly ensuring all was well for our weekend away. 11 out of 10 for Katie!

Wyatt is a fantastic sitter! He makes sure to follow care instructions carefully and I can tell my pup is having a blast when Wyatt’s taking care of him. When I come home my house looks better than I left it. I would highly recommend Wyatt if you’re looking for a house sitter for your pet!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Monona walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Monona maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Monona choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
