“Askley dog sitted at our house for the weekend. She was very responsive to initial inquiry as well as continued communication. She was professional yet very friendly and asked appropriate questions about our dogs . Our dogs are quite a handful but she developed a fast relationship with them. She sent pictures and brief update daily. So glad we found an amazing caregiver thru Rover!”

“Mary is a very responsible sitter. She had great communication and left me very detailed notes of Gracie’s schedule while I was away to let me know that Gracie was very well taken care of. I would highly recommend Mary.”

About: I have parented and fostered dogs for more than 20 years. I believe that every animal has their own special personality and needs and I do my best to recognize and honor that. I currently have 3 gentle playful smaller dogs that love visitors. My dogs live everywhere i do, on the couch and bed. I can manage feeding schedules and any medication as needed (including injections). I have been through it all! I work part-time from home (I’m a writer). I am almost always home unless running errands or taking the dogs to a dog park.Dogs are life and life is good. I have a fenced and secured backyard with a covered deck. Dogs have access to the yard all day unless it’s raining. We have 3 gentle friendly dogs: Maisie, 14 (17 lb dachshund poodle, very chill/frequent napper), Ollie, 9 (45 pound terrier mix and a total chicken), and Cricket, 6 (20 pounds, cocker-spaniel/poodle who thinks she is the leader but has no idea how to do it).
“Tatyana did a great job with our three dogs who range in size from a 90 lb German shepherd down to a 25 lb mutt. She sent pictures and videos, and with it being the first time she watched our dogs, it made me feel 100x more comfortable. We also had one dog who needed to take medication that she ensured was administered.”

“We used Marcia while we were away from our very spoiled Rottweiler for a week. Bella bonded with her immediately so we knew she was the best fit. We came home to a spotless house and a very content pooch. I would give her 10 stars if I could. Bella required medications 3 times per day and Marcia was right on top of that. We hope we can use her again soon.”

“Cassandra was great! So nice to have someone stay with Leo while we were gone. Way less stressful for him and us. Thanks Cassie, we’ll be rebooking for our next trip!”

“Ashley did a great job pet sitting for Tallee! She has been having seizures and Ashely was confident and willing to stay with her at my home. It really helped me enjoy my time away without worrying too much, knowing she was there with Tallee. I'm so happy to have her help!”

“Isaac was very good with our critters, including our 20 year old cat. The dogs seemed to have a great time too. He was considerate with the house, cleaning up after himself and brought in a package that was delivered early without me needing to ask. We would rebook with Isaac.”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life which convinced me to get my own dog a little over two years ago! I really enjoy taking dogs on walks and adventures around town. My dog is black and has thick fur so it definitely depends on the weather where we end up going on a walk (whether there is water or a shaded area). I also enjoy taking dogs to the dog park if they enjoy other pups. I can watch small dogs and big dogs (who might pull the leash a little harder). I am a teacher currently so I have the summer to have a chill job that’s flexible for my needs and other peoples needs as well. I will treat your pets as if they were my own. If you have a schedule where you need to let your dog out every other hour I can help out. I can also do something more chill where they just need to be fed early morning or late at night. Taking trips and being busy is part of life so I will help ease your stress about your little fur babies schedule.
“Elizabeth was amazing with my dog while I was traveling for work. She sent daily updates and many pictures. I would definitely use her services again.”

“We've never had anyone watch our cats except for family. I was extremely nervous, but after reading Abigail's profile, and watching her interact with our cats at the initial meeting, I knew I had found the right person! Abigail took lots of notes and asked tons of questions to make sure she had all the information to not only cat sit, but stay in our house for 12 days. Both cats immediately took to her like they were long lost besties. We were out of the country, but I received multiple photo's and video's every day so we never felt like we were so far away. The people we were traveling with were impressed with the number of pictures, updates and video's we received. Somehow she even got the picky eater cats to eat more than they do during a normal day. If I ever need someone to care for our pets in the future, Abigail will be the first person I look for!”

“Ashley was wonderful - came all the way to us for a meet and greet and gave good vibes right away. Before our event, she came on time and provided updates and we felt very reassured. Our pup also loved her right away. Would recommend!”

“Karina was amazing with our pup! She sent frequent updates and pics and even bought her little treats. She was incredibly flexible with our dates and times, and went above and beyond any sitter we’ve ever had- both for our dog and kids. And super affordable. Highly recommended!!!”

About: I think something, I can proudly say is that I have people meet me once and trust me to watch their pets. I’ve had pets and I have taken care of friends and families pets since I was 12. Truly bonding with my pets was the highlight of my childhood, an experience that I know not every child is fortunate to have. I’ve seen my dog from puppyhood to his frosty senior days. The care is different of course, diets and lifestyle routine slow down and more careful attention is needed. Love is another key, all animals are deserving of being treated with respect and kindness. That includes the animals in the forest, since I work outdoors I see a lot of birds and critters and each one’s life is valued and admired. Like my job, the environment of the pet is important. Keeping the food and water bowl clean, is something I find some families neglect but I find that to be a little disheartening as you would not like to drink out a dirty water glass Services offered * 30 Minute Dog Walks include a fun stroll around your neighborhood or a nearby trail to give your pup the exercise fresh air, and mental stimulation they need during the day * 30 Minute Drop-Ins include potty breaks, feeding, playtime, and of course plenty of snuggles to keep your pet happy and comfortable while you're away * Basic House-Siting include staying overnight with your pup so they have company and comfort in their own home, along with daytime care every 4-6 hours for potty breaks, meals, playtime, and cuddles I currently work outdoors for Ice Age Trail Alliance, and unable to commit to the time for a long term companion, however I have just enough time to spoil and love on other people’s adorable pets :) Truly, the most important aspect of pet care is the establishing the safety and security of your pet. The initial meeting with your pet, getting familiar and making sure the pet feels like they can trust their caretaker is crucial. That establish trust between caretaker and pet, allows me to ensure the best case scenario for your pet. Whether it be, trusting you on a walk or worse case scenario luring your pet from under the bed or loosing the lead for a second. I offer comfort of house sitting or walking your pet to ensure their routine is uninterrupted. :)
“Lisa did a terrific job with our fur babies! She was very careful and caring with them, kept us posted with the right amount of details, and kept the home really clean. Would definitely have her sit for us again!”

“Stephanie took excellent care of our 4 year old poodle, bonding with him immediately and taking him on nice walks and keeping him happy while we were gone. She even brought her own long leash so he could run around at the park while she made sure he couldn’t take off. Very kind, conscientious sitter!”

“Lauren and Nia were great with our pets and us! This was our first time using pet sitters and they really helped put us at ease through the process. With picture and video updates we knew our dogs and cats were having a good time and being well cared for. Highly recommend using them!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - McFarland
Ashley was a dream sitter! Our shy, skittish pup fell in love with her immediately — he looked so happy and at ease even in the very first picture she sent! She was communicative, followed his medicine regimen, and clearly cared about him. We wouldn’t trust just anyone to be with our boy during his least favorite day of the year (July 4), but Ashley went above and beyond to make sure their time together was safe and fun!

This is the first vacation we've been on where we didn't worry about our cat at all! Elise took excellent care of our cat and our house. We really enjoyed her updates and photos. We think our cat actually misses Elise, he was wandering around looking for her and whining when we got home. :) We will definitely book again! Thanks Elise!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred McFarland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in McFarland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in McFarland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
