“Alexis was fabulous! She took care of my cat Alfred over a weekend while I was away, feeding him and changing his water, and made sure to send me plenty of pictures of him enjoying himself! I would definitely book with her again.”

“As a first time Rover user and the first time leaving my 1 year old cats, I was a bit nervous. I had an instant good feeling for Michelle. The cats were also responsive to her calm demeanor and were more curious than concerned. I appreciated the updates and photos! It was a great experience. Now I know who to contact for the next time I have to travel!”

“Cordigen was wonderful and went above and beyond for our two cats while we were traveling. We massively appreciated the pictures and updates about our cats but also how Cordigen regularly took in packages and made sure everything else was in order in our home. Thank you, Cordigen!!”

“Jordan was an absolutely amazing sitter! This was my first time leaving my cat behind as I went on vacation and I was definitely nervous about the process, but Jordan put me at ease right away. As a bonus, my cat was still afraid to meet new people, but Jordan was very patient with her and by the end of my (short) trip, she was comfortable enough with her to sit on her lap. I cannot say how much I appreciate Jordan’s time and how nice it was to come home to a cat that was relaxed and just happy to see me.”

About: Hi, My name is Alex, it's nice to meet you. I have loved dogs my whole life. I enjoy taking care of them and the care they give back in return. Walking your dog will be as rewarding to them as it will be to me. I am a 33 year old male currently living in Mountain View. I am here to walk dogs and to do my best to care for them when I am on the job. Although I've attended a few dog training classes. Most my experience comes from being with dogs and research I've done along the way. I've been walking dogs for years now. I'll do my best to be observant, safe, and professional. My schedule is fairly open so I have the ability to be flexible with my customers.

“We have hired many sitters from Rover over the years but Allison was absolutely the best! Wow! Our cat loved her so much, she sent fun photos every day, and kept us updated on how things were going at home. Highly recommend!!”

About: Preferred name: Fifi Grew up with small and large dogs like Spitz and Golden Retriever. Currently live with cats🐱 Always pet sitting for friends over holidays in the past 12 years including domestic cats, ragdoll, poodles and doodles, Bernese mountain, Maltese, Cotons, Cavapoo, Bichon… Flexible in time and locations. For boarding: I can pickup and drop-off your pets if you are occupied with other things or simply don’t wanna drive :) For house-sitting: Happy to walk your pets around neighborhoods, nearby parks, and trails or beaches (during weekends). My work schedule is pretty flexible, which makes it easy for me to fit pet care into my daily routine. I also enjoy driving and don’t mind traveling a bit for pet sitting or drop-in visits. I’m usually available on weekends as well, so I can be flexible with different schedules and care needs. I always follow the owner’s house rules and care instructions, and try my best to keep each pet’s normal routine while their family is away. Every pet is different, so I’m happy to adjust to their needs—whether that means extra walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply giving them some space. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and at home while in my care. 🐾

“This is my first time having Shannon do a drop in visit for my dog. There was a hiccup during our first appointment but I’ve decided to still go ahead and meet her. I’m glad I did! She went above and beyond in taking care of my dog. She also sends detailed report after her drop in visits. I highly recommend her.”

“Krista was absolutley terrific with our four-leggers when we were out of town for the day. Her timely updates and photos were really appreciated and it was a comfort knowing that our critters were happy, relaxed, and being well cared for. An enthusiasic 5 stars!”

“My dog Harvey loves Vicky! she’s dependable, always on time and does everything we ask of her when she comes in for drop in visits. We have already rebooked her. She’s great!”

“Elena did a terrific job of caring for our newly adopted outdoor cat. She took notes on his schedule and took the time to check his food and water twice a day. The texted pictures were reassuring. We will book her again for future trips.”

About: I've looked after dogs of all sizes and ages, including nervous and special needs dogs. I keep an eye out for other people and dogs on walks while staying mindful of body language to ensure safety and comfort. I am playful with dogs when they are playful and love bonding with them. I'm looking to fill out my schedule with my true passion; dog care. I have plenty of time and attention to dedicate while dog owners are busy during the week. I have a large Chocolate Lab and a small elderly blind Boston Terrier that have given me a range of experience with specialized care. They do however have other support nodes at home, so I'm available to visit your home to walk your dog, keep them company, feed them, or just take them out to the bathroom.
About: I love pets of all kinds, and find it very rewarding to gain their trust and make sure they are living their best life while their owner is away! I have experience with small to medium-large dogs since childhood, and had a senior cat for the last 5 years. I am good at picking up on body language queues or behavior changes, especially in more subtle and shy pets. I have lots of experience with administering medications, including with dogs suspicious of pill wrap and cats who have figured out all nicer methods besides the pill gun/liquid syringe. I occasionally travel for contract work, but keep my calendar religiously up-to-date and have plenty of daytime/evening availability! The more time in advance I get, the more likely I can plan around your pet's needs and ensure availability. I make sure to ask the important questions upfront so to minimally disturb your time away! I also have a sixth sense for when pets get into things they aren't supposed to, and if house-sitting am attuned to their (& your belongings' lol) safety!
About: I’m experienced with cats and dogs Own 3 kitties My daughter is a dog trainer and boards at her facility I used to foster dogs for the Humane Society I work for myself in the beauty industry which has been hit hard by covid. Need some side work to keep busy. Exercise for me and a dog at the same time makes sense… I’m experienced with all animals and have had a dog that liked to run away. So I’m wise to the tricks No one will get lost
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Loyola
We had a wonderful experience with Xiao! She's very responsible. Before her visit, she set up a video call with us to understand our needs. During the visit, she sent us several photos of our cats while she played with them, and she patiently helped us set up our automatic litter box. She even went above and beyond by watering our plants! We'll definitely book her again next time.
I found Barbara to be attuned to my Ragdoll cats needs. She was gentle with them understanding their shyness in accepting her. She was excellent in keeping me informed about their care through texting and photos. I appreciated all the time she spent with them. I would definitely ask her again!

As good as usual! Always like Mireya’s story. It’s been part of my trip every time waiting for her notes. Recently my house has ant problem. Mireya was also very nice rinsing the cat food bowl. Before she left the house, my cat was trying to poop on the bed. Thanks god Mireya stopped my cat from doing that. Can’t thank her more!

Caroline was great! She came every day as scheduled, gave the one cat his 2 medicines, and spoiled both my kitties with treats and playtime. They were happy and healthy when I got home from my trip. Even the plants looked better than when I left them. I'll call on Caroline again!

Lisa took great care of my two cats! One of them is very shy and the other is super playful, but Lisa made sure both felt comfortable and gave my active cat plenty of fun playtime. This isn't the first time I've hired Lisa, but it was her first time caring for both cats together, and as always, she did a fantastic job. Highly recommend her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
