“Xilin was an amazing cat sitter! She did daily drop-in visits while I was on vacation and took such great care of my cat. Every visit, she made sure he was fed, his litter box was cleaned, and his water was refilled. She also spent time playing with him and giving him attention, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She was reliable, attentive, and clearly genuinely cares about animals. I came home to a happy, relaxed cat and a clean space. I would absolutely book Xilin again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and thoughtful pet sitter!”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life ranging from all ages, mainly ages 2-13! Due to having dogs my entire life, caring for pets has always been a big part of my life. I’ve developed a genuine passion for animals and love making sure they feel safe, happy, comfortable, and loved. I’m currently a college student, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of free time to dedicate to caring for your pets! My availability allows me to spend quality time with your dog rather than leaving them alone for long periods. I provide in-home drop ins, so your pup can stay in the comfort of their own home and keep their normal routine while you’re away. I’ll follow your instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications if needed, and plenty of love and attention.

About: I live with two dogs of my own as part of a full multi-pet household, so daily care isn't new to me — it's routine. I have specific experience with senior dogs, including the extra patience and attentiveness that comes with mobility issues, changes in appetite, and adjusted exercise needs. I'm comfortable administering medications — pills, liquids, or topicals — and keep careful notes on dosing and timing so nothing gets missed. My apartment includes an oversized outdoor patio for fresh air and relaxing evenings, and our community also has a dog run that's always accessible for exercise and playtime. Whether your dog is a high-energy pup or a slower-moving senior, I adjust my pace and attention to what they actually need. Pet care is my full-time focus, because I don't work outside the home, my schedule is wide open — which means I can offer walks and drop-in visits at the times that actually fit your pet's routine, not squeezed into a narrow morning-or-evening window like many sitters. Mornings are typically free for early walks or first visits of the day. I have consistent availability through the afternoon for midday drop-ins, potty breaks, or a second walk if your dog needs it. And I'm just as available in the evenings for a final walk or check-in before you're home. Whether your pet needs one visit a day or several spread throughout, I have the flexibility to actually be there when it counts. Safety and trust start with creating a calm, structured environment where pets can settle in and feel at home. My apartment is a full-time, attentive household — with two dogs and several cats of my own, pets who stay or visit here are never left alone for long stretches, and routines (feeding, medication, walks) are followed closely and consistently. I keep a close eye on interactions between visiting pets and my own animals to make sure everyone is comfortable, and I'm attentive to signs of stress so I can adjust the environment as needed — whether that means quiet separate space or supervised introductions. Outdoor time is always supervised, whether that's the patio, a walk, or the community dog run, and I take care to secure doors, gates, and any potential hazards throughout the home. Your pet's safety and comfort are treated with the same level of care as my own.

About: As a devoted pet owner, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your furry family members. I have two cats of my own who are incredibly close to me and are a big part of my daily life. They are friendly with both people and other pets, which has given me extensive experience understanding animal behavior and individual personalities. In addition to caring for my own cats, I regularly help friends by dog-sitting their dogs. I enjoy spending time with dogs of different sizes and temperaments, whether it's going for walks, playtime, or simply providing companionship. My friends often tell me that their dogs quickly warm up to me and are excited to see me again. I treat every pet as if they were my own—with patience, attention, affection, and care. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away, giving you peace of mind knowing they are in good hands. I work full-time from 10 to 6. I am available for morning walks, feeding, and check-ins before work, as well as evening walks, playtime. On weekends, I have a more flexible schedule and can dedicate additional time to dog walks, and companionship. I will provide pet care in my clients' homes, as I have two cats of my own and do not offer boarding services. When caring for pets, I focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. I make sure pets are fed on schedule, have fresh water, receive plenty of exercise and playtime, and get the attention and affection they need. For dogs, this may include walks, outdoor time, and interactive play. For cats, I ensure litter boxes are kept clean and that they receive companionship and enrichment based on their personalities. I also respect my clients' homes and follow any specific instructions regarding pet care, medications, routines, or household preferences. I understand that every pet is unique, and I strive to provide reliable, loving care that helps both pets and owners feel at ease.

About: I've been around animals almost my whole life. I volunteered at an animal shelter in high school, have had cats of my own since 2013, pet sat cats and dogs for friends and family, and have had experience raising kittens as well as experience in TNR. Starting in late August I will be unable to visit your pet between 8am-1pm during the week as I am a part time preschool teacher. However, I can spend all weekend taking care of your pet. Even though I am working part time, I am more than happy to spend as much time as possible with your pet when you're not able to so they have company until you return home! As a life long animal lover, I understand pets are more than just an animal, they're part of the family. I take time to get to know each pet and will do all I can to ensure that they are always safe in my care, whether during a walk or pet sitting in your home.

About: Our place is 15 mins from SFO. You can drop off and park at street during your trip! I’ve provided boarding and day care service for my clients, family & friends for over 5 yrs now. We have a 4-yr old Formosan Mountain Dog, Koko. She is no longer a playful pup but would once in a while would love to chase with her fur friends in our backyard. I take no more than 3 dogs at a time. If it’s the first time your dog boards with us, I won’t take any other new client at the same time. Your pet will receive great attention and a careful watch during their stay with us. I’m currently working from home so I’m always there for your pup. Staying at our home will include 1-2 walks a day around the neighborhood. If your pet is good with car trips, we also go to a large near by park by car frequently. Potty breaks can be provided as frequently as every 2 hours in our large, fenced backyard. Your pet is welcomed to stay indoor or if they like taking a nice sun bath on our backyard porch. The side doors to our backyard and fences are always well secured. We have a spacious backyard with fence for your dog to have fun and exercise. My schedule is rather flexible depends on your pet’s need. Normally we do 1-2 walks a day and frequent potty breaks in the yard. See description section for our routine. I have a large fenced yard, with natural grass, turf playground, and a porch for sun bath. The yard always has plenty of shades and drinkable water. The side doors are always well secured. We will never open front door without securing your pet. I watch when your pet is playing outside. We also have cameras around the house that’s always on.

About: I've taken care of dogs since I was in high school. A lot of my neighbors have asked me to take care of their dogs while being out on long vacations. Most visits did not include overnight stays, but I would show up in the morning to take them for a walk and to play, come back around noon to play with them again and stay for about an hour or two, come back around dinner to make sure they were fed and walked again and stay a little longer so that the dogs were not alone when it would get darker. Especially during thunder storms! I currently have a full time job that I work at 5 days a week. However with my job I have a lot of availability to work remote so if there were any circumstances where you would need me to stay all day at your house to watch your dog I would be available to do so as long as I have a wifi connection :). I had moved from New Jersey to California, so as you can imagine I miss my family dogs everyday so I have a lot of love to give to other dogs. I live in an apartment so I will unfortunately not be able to have dogs here, however, I am willing to travel multiple times a day to the owners house to play, feed, walk and even go to parks to keep them fresh and active.

Yiheng cared for our two 2 year old cats, (Chestnut and Jinx) during our 15 day vacation in Korea and Japan! We are so very happy that we found her and we absolutely highly recommend her! She is the absolute best & she’ll definitely take excellent care of your kitties. An important note is that she makes sure to wash her hands every time at the start of her visit, and ensures she locks the door when she leaves. Yiheng is very caring, patient, friendly, organized, understanding, prepared, and went above and beyond by helping clean! She followed our very detailed instructions and we came home to two very happy, well-fed, and relaxed cats! My cats love her and I am so happy she was patient with them. Yiheng is also very trustworthy and ensures she is prompt to the assigned visit schedule. She even gave us some cat toys for Chestnut and Jinx! While we were vacationing overseas, she provided us with that much needed peace of mind and confidence that our cats would be well taken care of every day. Her detailed end-of-visit Rover cards (which explained everything during the visit) and attached pictures for each visit helped reassure us that everything was going smoothly! Yiheng also paid attention to the litter boxes and gave reports of each cat’s bathroom breaks. She also has excellent communication and was very responsive whenever there were any questions. Yiheng also followed very precise feeding instructions and was very patient with our shy and easily distracted Chestnut. Furthermore, she was also incredibly helpful in maintaining our clean apartment, she cleaned (swept, vacuumed, wiped) and sanitized any accidents such as hairball vomit and any bathroom accidents. While we were very happy to come home to two happy cats after the trip, we felt bittersweet that her current booked visits with us were concluding. 🥹 However, it’s not a goodbye because we are for sure going to book future visits with Yiheng again!! 😊 Thanks again Yiheng!!

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Laurel

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
