“Melanie communicates so well and our dogs are so happy with her! They’re calm when we get home which tells us how much love they had over the couple of days we were gone. We definitely recommend Melanie!”
“I cannot recommend Lydia enough for all of your petsitting needs - she watched our pups AND backyard ducks when we went out of town for the weekend. My husband and I came home from our trip to two content and relaxed boys (our dogs) and four happy and peppy girls (our ducks). Lydia went above and beyond by taking out the trash, washing the towels, and changing the sheets before she left…we’ll most definitely use her again!”

“Maura was fantastic! She took great care of my babies and my home. One of my cats has a serious health condition and is on several medications, and I certainly left him in great hands! Highly recommend!”

“Zoey is very kind and considerate of me the pet owner as well as my pup. She communicated with me during her stay just to put my mind at ease. She sent pictures so I knew my pup was well taken care of. She is responsive and reliable.”

I’ve also taken care of squirrels and possums before so I am pretty confident in animal care! I have a hybrid/mostly remote job and no pets of my own so I have a flexible schedule! I often have meetings during the day but plenty of time in between them! I also travel around the Charleston area for meetings! I am very caring towards animals and will give your pets lots of love! I miss my pets back home so I would really enjoy getting to spend some time with yours as if they were my own!
“Kyler was great!! Kyler house sit for us over the weekend and took care of our Aussie Nellie. He sent lots of photos and kept us updated on how she was doing throughout the weekend, couldn’t have asked for a better experience!”

“First time using Kelsey, and she accommodated a last-min request when all my regulars were unavailable. My two dogs were so well taken care of, and home was just as we left it. Got lots of updates and pics throughout the long weekend, which I appreciate. I didn’t have to worry about anything at all. They were also really calm (no anxiety) and happy when we got home. They can be challenging for me on long walks, pulling and barking at other dogs and people, but she seemed to handle them really well. Would def recommend her services.”

“Immediately upon meeting Jess, we knew we would be fortunate to have her as our in-home caregiver for our high energy 2yr old Golden Retriever, Finnley. It would be the first time ever leaving our sweet boy overnight, and we planned a visit with family abroad for 10days. In addition to her experience and integrity as an emergency vet nurse, Jess brings all the other special qualities one hopes to find in a highly trustworthy pet sitter- a genuine love and understanding for all animals, a friendly and calm demeanor, excellent communication skills paired with reliability and flexibility to accommodate my special routines for Finnley. With complete confidence, we were able to enjoy our time away with absolute peace of mind about Finnley’s wellbeing. We looked forward to Jess’ daily, detailed “Pupdates” with multiple photos and videos of one very relaxed and happy pup with Jess on what we referred to as “Finnley’s at home vacay.” She spoiled us all with her dedication, professionalism and love for Finnley. We have already scheduled our next overnight sitting with Jess! She is the absolute best!💙 Jesswith their activities that day.. Every evening we looked forward walks of his daily routine as well as those that make Finnley unique. For 10days, she spoiled not only Finnley, but us with daily photos, videos, and detailed “pupdates” which we looked forward to each evening. Her focus was 100% on Finnley as she took on no other clients during this time even tho we had assured her that he would be ok if she wanted to take on check ins or walkers.”

“Jessica was amazing!! We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! One of our pups had a medical issue throughout her stay and Jessica was so incredibly kind and patient with her. She was very thorough with her check ins and responses. She sent videos and pics every day with how overnights went and the mornings and evenings. I felt very confident with her ability to take care of all of our pups. She was also very diligent about picking up poop which is something we didn’t even ask her to do. If she will have us, we will definitely be using her again!! 💕💕💕”
“Megan did a great job house sitting my two vizslas and two cats while we were gone a week. She took them for long walks and works from home so kept them company all day. I will be using her services again!”

About: I grew up with dogs my whole life, labs in particular have a special place in my heart. I first started dog sitting for my neighbors when I was young. As I have gotten older I help family/friends/ coworkers. When dog sitting over multiple days, I have stayed over night and have had the dog stay over at my apartment. My responsibilities include: feeding, potty breaks, walks, and playtime inside/outside. My current work schedule is Monday-Thursday, till 3pm. I am available for dog walking in the afternoon/evenings anytime after 4pm. For dog sitting I am available Friday-Sunday. While I live in a townhouse, I do not have a fenced in yard. However, I do live in a walkable neighborhood. I also live with a very friendly golden retriever who would love to be friends with your dog.

Rachel was amazing with my dog and bird! She kept me up to date on how they were doing and sent me photos throughout the week I was away. She was prompt in her responses from the very beginning. I will definitely be booking her to care for my babies in the future!

Anna was a life saver when our dog sitting situation fell apart and we needed someone on short notice. She took wonderful care of our two wild Australian Shepherds and did a great job communicating with us everyday. We highly recommend her for all of your pet sitting/walking needs!

Sage was so sweet and easy to work with. She came early to meet Nellie in a meet and greet, and watched Nellie for 2 nights while I was away. She was kind enough to bring in packages that got delivered and my house was left in perfect condition. Will definitely book with Sage on my next trip!

Mary was fantastic. Five stars isn’t enough! I was able to enjoy my time away from my pup (Mona) stress free. Mona loved Mary and she provided me with fun photo updates along the way. For anyone looking for a caring and communicative dog-sitter, Mary should be your go-to!

Rachel was awesome with our two dogs Zoey and George! She gave me regular updates, no problem feeding my one dog her special diet and meds, and walked them every morning! When I came home, they looked happy and relaxed, we will definitely use her again and highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Isle of Palms on Rover is $77.86 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Isle of Palms walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Isle of Palms maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Isle of Palms choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
