“I cannot recommend Lydia enough for all of your petsitting needs - she watched our pups AND backyard ducks when we went out of town for the weekend. My husband and I came home from our trip to two content and relaxed boys (our dogs) and four happy and peppy girls (our ducks). Lydia went above and beyond by taking out the trash, washing the towels, and changing the sheets before she left…we’ll most definitely use her again!”

“Zoey B. Is an amazing pet sitter! She handled all 5 of our cats and two dogs over 70 lbs for the weekend. Our pets absolutely loved her, and they are pretty picky! Zoey sent us amazing pictures of each of our pets several times a day. This meant so much to me because we were very far from home attending my father-in-law’s funeral. Seeing my pets happy, healthy and safe with Zoey just gave me such peace in such a sad time. I highly recommend Zoey, and I absolutely intend to contact her through Rover the next time we need to go out of town. Thank you, Zoey! You’re Awesome!❤️”

“Maura was fantastic! She took great care of my babies and my home. One of my cats has a serious health condition and is on several medications, and I certainly left him in great hands! Highly recommend!”

“Melanie communicates so well and our dogs are so happy with her! They’re calm when we get home which tells us how much love they had over the couple of days we were gone. We definitely recommend Melanie!”

“Reagan was great! She sent plenty of photos and proivided updates on how everyone was doing. Very respectful of the house. When we got back, the animals were happy to see us, but did not act like they had been ignored, which is the best compliment I can give.”

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was young, volunteered at animal shelters, and have had two dogs of my own! I’ve also taken care of squirrels and possums before so I am pretty confident in animal care! I have a hybrid/mostly remote job and no pets of my own so I have a flexible schedule! I often have meetings during the day but plenty of time in between them! I also travel around the Charleston area for meetings! I am very caring towards animals and will give your pets lots of love! I miss my pets back home so I would really enjoy getting to spend some time with yours as if they were my own!
“Megan is our dog, Daisy’s favorite sitter. Why? Because she treats her like she’s her own. She is extremely good at getting back to any kind of communication and my house is always sparkling when I get home. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter and Daisy loves her and so do we.”

“I cannot recommend Jess highly enough! Communication was exceptional from start to finish. I received detailed updates, lots of photos, and thoughtful journal entries every day, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. My cat has medical needs and requires medication, and she handled everything with incredible care, attention, and compassion. It was clear that my cat wasn’t just being watched—he was genuinely cared for and loved. Leaving a sick pet can be stressful, but I felt completely confident knowing he was in such capable hands. Her professionalism, reliability, and kindness exceeded all of my expectations. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for an outstanding pet sitter!”

About: I’ve been caring for animals of all kinds for over a decade. I have cared for cats, dogs, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, parrots, bunnies, and fish. I love animals and have a very open schedule, so I am looking to spend my time doing something i love- caring for animals! I have cared for animals of all personalities and types, and have experience handling medications and fixing invisible fences as well! Im currently a fresh grad and job searching so I can very flexible. I want to keep working while i search for my next move in life! I live in an apartment downtown, so I do not have a yard. That being said, it is better for me to house-sit than board, but I am open to boarding as i live near several parks like Marion square!
“She did a great job and obviously handled our nervous/leash aggressive dog super well! She was really communicative and met all of (our and) Annie's numerous needs!”

“First time using Kelsey, and she accommodated a last-min request when all my regulars were unavailable. My two dogs were so well taken care of, and home was just as we left it. Got lots of updates and pics throughout the long weekend, which I appreciate. I didn’t have to worry about anything at all. They were also really calm (no anxiety) and happy when we got home. They can be challenging for me on long walks, pulling and barking at other dogs and people, but she seemed to handle them really well. Would def recommend her services.”

“Absolutely amazing care and such a sweet person. Carla came over before our doggy staycation to meet Blaze and Luna and they were immediately in love with her. We got daily update photos and they seemed to be living it up! Thank you so much Carla!”

“Emma was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of both of my dogs while Lorena and I were away for a few days, and we couldn’t have felt more at ease. She was attentive, responsible, and clearly loves what she does. We got regular updates, and it was so reassuring to see how happy and comfortable our dogs were with her. I would 100% recommend Emma to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. We’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sullivans Island
Naomi was very communicative and great with my two older dogs. She watched them over Fourth of July weekend, and was very caring for them both during the insane amount of fireworks that were going off. She updated me daily and sent pics, will totally rehire her to stay at my home with my babies again!

Jennifer was great! Provided just the right amount of updates about my dog while we were out of town. I knew he was being well cared for and didn't worry at all while we were out of town. She was an even wiling to help out when our flight was delayed getting back. I would highly recommend her!

Jessica is the best dog sitter we have ever had! Mature, caring, friendly, and a great communicator. We were very appreciative of Jessica for staying in our home with our two dogs. She provided frequent updates and communicated any concerns (i.e., our boy was licking himself incessantly, checking if another dog could come over and play). We could tell the dogs not only felt comfortable, but had a great time and were cared for by Jessica. The house was in perfect shape when we returned, as were our pups 😊

We had Kelly to provide care for our two Poodles (Murphy and Sophie and she was fabulous. She played with them in the backyard, fed and gave them their medications and let them sleep with her. Kelsey followed our instructions to a T. Upon return I noticed the house was tidy, their feeding bowl were washed and best of all the dogs seemed relaxed and well cared for. We will definitely have Kelly back and I know the dogs would like to see her again,

Wow - Tammie was amazing and highly recommend. Very responsive and helpful. She cared for our older cat and dog - we know they got a lot of love and attention because while they were happy to see us, they did not complain or cling all night, which can happen. Our dog had an upset tummy but Tammie was great and took care and of our girl. And, we were delayed coming home so Tammie made sure our dog had a mid-day walk. Can’t say enough nice things - she even did laundry to wash towels and sheets. She went way above and beyond.

Sage was so sweet and easy to work with. She came early to meet Nellie in a meet and greet, and watched Nellie for 2 nights while I was away. She was kind enough to bring in packages that got delivered and my house was left in perfect condition. Will definitely book with Sage on my next trip!

Katie was one of the best pet sitters I have ever had. She gave my cats lots of attention. Even though I hadn't requested it, she gave me feedback and sent photos. I had a long page of instructions which she followed perfectly. I returned after a long day of travel to a pristine home with food and fresh water for the cats and a clean litter box. Katie is superb both as a pet sitter and as a person and gets my highest recommendation.
Kelsey stayed at our house and watched our dog for about a week. She is reliable, friendly, and reaches out with any questions. The house was impeccably clean when we arrived home. Our doggo was so loved while we were gone, which was a huge peace of mind. She sent daily pics and updates. Highly recommend Kelsey as a dog sitter. Her dog, Gizmo, is friendly and gets along with other animals.

Mary was fantastic. Five stars isn’t enough! I was able to enjoy my time away from my pup (Mona) stress free. Mona loved Mary and she provided me with fun photo updates along the way. For anyone looking for a caring and communicative dog-sitter, Mary should be your go-to!

This was my first time using Rover and I felt very nervous about leaving my 2 dogs with a stranger. Olivia built my trust with our conversations before my booking. Once booked she continued the trust building by being quickly and appropriately responsive to my requests. Upon her arrival at my hotel room I liked how she interacted with my dogs and me. She seemed comfortable caring for them and they responded positively to her interactions with them. I will definitely hire Olivia the next time I am in Mt Pleasant and need a sitter. She is trust worthy and competent.
I had a great experience with Bethany. She was incredibly reliable & always on time and super communicative throughout the weekend. I loved that she sent regular photo updates of my pup Hagrid, which totally put my mind at ease. He looked so happy and well cared for! It was also great knowing she was always reachable if I had any questions. I’ll definitely be booking her again. Highly recommend!

Wow! Olivia knocked it out of the park with house and dog sitting!! She went above and beyond to take care of my pup, and tend to some things that came up unexpectedly when we were out of town. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Will use her again and again! Very trustworthy, very attentive!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sullivans Island on Rover is $47.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

As of July 2026, there are 1,626 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sullivans Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sullivans Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sullivans Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sullivans Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
