“Emma did a wonderful job taking care of our puppy, Leia, while we were out of town. She was great with communication, kept us updated every day and was both responsive and proactive throughout. Highly recommend and we will definitely book her again. Thanks, Emma!”

“We needed a last minute sitter to stay with our dog Banksy for a week. We were naturally worried about inviting a stranger to stay in our home but when Rachel came over for a quick meet/greet we immediately relaxed. Rachel was so friendly, kind, honest and normal that we had no worries whatsoever. And we were right. Rachel kept Banksy busy and updated us daily with info and pics. We just got home and Banksy is happy and the house is spotless. We highly recommend Rachel for your pet sitting needs!”

“Julia was great with our energetic pups and took perfect care of our house while we were away! We’re thankful we found her relatively last-minute and would definitely book with her again!”

“Here's a warm, genuine review you could leave: Jai was absolutely amazing with Roo, especially while she was recovering and not feeling her best. She went above and beyond to make sure Roo was comfortable, carefully administered all of her medications, and kept me updated every step of the way. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing Roo was in such caring and capable hands while I had to leave the house. It's never easy leaving your pup when they're under the weather, but Jai made the entire experience so much less stressful. I truly couldn't have asked for a better sitter, and I would trust her with Roo again in a heartbeat!”
“Sophie and Jacob were the best. They took great care of Baby and Flint and sent pictures every day. Our dogs absolutely loved them both! They also left our house very clean when they left.”

“Devon was amazing with our fur babies, Susan and Daisy! She kept us updated daily with photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear they were well loved and cared for the entire time. We came home to two very happy pups and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Mackenzie stayed with my dog overnight in my apartment and everything went great! She was very communicative and responsible and I felt very comfortable with her at our meet-and-greet. During her stay she sent a photo and provided updates, and she followed all the instructions for Osito’s feeding and walk schedule. My apartment was very clean when I returned and exactly how I left it. I will definitely use her services again in the future and recommend her for pet sitting!”

“I cannot recommend Lydia enough for all of your petsitting needs - she watched our pups AND backyard ducks when we went out of town for the weekend. My husband and I came home from our trip to two content and relaxed boys (our dogs) and four happy and peppy girls (our ducks). Lydia went above and beyond by taking out the trash, washing the towels, and changing the sheets before she left…we’ll most definitely use her again!”

“Amy was an excellent petsitter! Our dog was very happy when we came home from our trip and Amy took good care of our house. Amy was highly communicative with us, reached out when she had questions and set us a couple of pictures each day. I would definitely book her again!”

“I came home to a happy and healthy doggo, she updated with pics as needed and responded very quickly to any texts. Left the apartment spotless and even had everything already cleaned in the wash before leaving. Will definitely be trusting Alicia with my dog again!”

About: I have been around animals for my entire life, growing up with two cats along with two dogs. For the past four years I have taken care of animals within numerous families in Charleston and during my stint at UofSC in Columbia. I have experience with older animals along with puppies. I am also experienced with medications and giving them to animals. I am a 22 year old graduate of the University of South Carolina currently working a fully remote position. I am able to create my own schedule and can work from anywhere which is a great benefit that I can provide. I do my best to keep up a normal routine with your animal in hopes that they are comfortable and not miss you too much! I can be very active with an active animal, along with being lazy with your lazy animal! Please reach and tell me what you need and I will try my best to do it!
“We are obsessed with Laura! Our boys, Murphy and French Toast, had a great time hanging out with Tobe! We had some travel issues with flights delayed, having to get a rental car and took much longer to get home and Laura made sure the boys were all set before we knew when we would be home! Loved getting cute pics while on vacation! Definitely going to be booking again for our next vacation 🫶🫶🫶”

“Julia was amazing! She was very responsive throughout our trip and updated us with tons of pictures! She came over before we left to meet our animals and took diligent notes on the dogs routines, feeding schedule, sleep situations, etc. We will definitely look to book Julia again in the future!”

“Anna is amazing and took such good care of our babies!!! They’re our whole world and we don’t like to leave them with just anyone, we’re lucky we found Anna because she went above and beyond and treated them like her own! We can’t recommend her enough!!”

“Tonya was a fantastic sitter for our 2 senior dogs. She was incredibly responsive providing daily updates and photos and gave the dogs so much love and care while we were away. We will absolutely be using her again for our dog sitting needs!”

“Reagan was great! She sent plenty of photos and proivided updates on how everyone was doing. Very respectful of the house. When we got back, the animals were happy to see us, but did not act like they had been ignored, which is the best compliment I can give.”

“Absolutely amazing care and such a sweet person. Carla came over before our doggy staycation to meet Blaze and Luna and they were immediately in love with her. We got daily update photos and they seemed to be living it up! Thank you so much Carla!”

This was the second time Rachel has stayed at our home for a long weekend to watch our dog. It was a stormy few days and she took extra good care of our anxious boy throughout all the thunder. Great communication, lots of photos and came home to a happy dog and well kept home. Thanks again Rachel!

Alicia was amazing watching my dog! She was so easy to communicate with the whole time and I never once worried while I was away. I even noticed my apartment was sparkling clean when I got back, she definitely went the extra mile and didn’t have to do that! She’s down to earth, easygoing, and someone I trust completely with my dog and my home. Can’t recommend her enough, if you need someone reliable and trustworthy to watch your pup, Alicia is the best!

We had a fantastic experience with Sandi and would absolutely book with her again! From the meet and greet, she was incredibly attentive—she asked thoughtful questions, took notes about Moose’s routine and preferences, and made us feel completely comfortable leaving him in her care. While we were away, Sandi sent frequent, detailed updates and tons of pictures, kept him active and entertained, and clearly treated him like her own. She even took him on little adventures and surprised him with some new toys. It was obvious from the updates (and from a very happy Moose when we got home!) that he had an absolute blast. We couldn’t have asked for a more attentive and caring sitter. Highly recommend Sandi!

Jenna is the absolute best cat sitter! She sent detailed updates multiple times per day with photos and videos of happy cats! She’s so kind, follows all instructions, and truly goes above and beyond. Not to mention we came home to an absolute spotless home. I would recommend Jenna to anyone! We’re so lucky to have found her in Charleston.

WE LOVE AMY!!! She took great care of Ruby, and of our house, while we were gone. This was our first time leaving Ruby behind, and Amy kept in touch with us all week with pictures and updates, so we knew she was happy and cared for. I hope she is free every time we go on a trip, we will definitely be reaching out to her again!

My wife and I recently moved to Mount Pleasant from Colorado and have always had great pet sitter(s) over the years . Our two large dogs have passed and we’ found ourselves down to our 9 year old cat, Boo. We had a 10 day trip coming up and hired Delanie to do overnight stays with Boo as she was accustomed to that. Wow!! Delanie is 100% “5 Stars” and and probably the best sitter we’ve ever had, and we’ve had some awesome pet sitters. I highly recommend her - she’s attentive, engaged, responsible and responsive. Plus she send great pet pictures and stays in touch with updates without us having to ask - again, wow!! Delanie is our pet sitter as long as she wants the job - highly recommended. Thx! Jim & Michele

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Avondale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Avondale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Avondale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
