About: I’ve been surrounded by animals since I was a kid. I had a wiener dog for 17 years, so I have tons of experience with senior dogs! I’ve had 4 dwarf hamsters and grew up volunteering with horses. I love playing with dogs, so high energy is not a problem for me! I also love long walks! I’m currently a 1L at Charleston School of Law, so I can’t have a pet of my own yet! This is a great way for me to gain experience and play with animals! I’m currently a Law School Student, so I have a decent amount of free time to take your dog on a walk! Or I can stop by to check in! I cannot care for pets at my place since I live in an apartment! Although, I am more than willing to care for them at your place!

I normally don’t leave reviews, but Brittany truly deserves one. She gave me complete peace of mind while I was away, knowing my dog, Lola, was in such caring hands. Brittany is organized, punctual, kind, and genuinely loves what she does and it shows. Lola was so well cared for, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will absolutely book with her again every time I need a sitter. She is, without a doubt, the best caregiver I’ve found since joining Rover. Highly recommended!

Brandi was an awesome house sitter for our two babies! She was wonderful with the dogs and left the house prefect! She even laundered the sheets and towels she used which we didn’t expect her to do. That was a nice surprise! We hope to have her come back and stay again in the future!

Katherine was great! She was able to accommodate my last-minute request for in-home sitting. She was fantastic at communication and met my sweet boy's needs. It was wonderful to have someone in my home whom I felt comfortable leaving my babies with. I love how many pictures she sent over the weekend, and I was able to relax and enjoy being out of town with family. I would absolutely recommend her for all of your pet setting needs, and I plan on having her watch my babies again!

About: Hi, I’m Kiana. I’m energetic, fun, and creative. I love animals and would like to paint them while I’m watching them. I’m a watercolor and acrylic artist and poet. I recently lost a beloved dog of 15 years in our home and life feels a lot emptier without a pet to play with and go on walks. I would be thrilled to meet your pet and give it the love and attention it deserves. During your pet’s stay with me or an overnight visit in your own home, you can expect that I will play with your pets with their favorite toys after taking them out on a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. You can expect at least 3-4 walks, and photo updates from me. When they seem adequately tired, I’ll take out my watercolor paints and do my best to capture them while they are still. You have the option of purchasing anything you like later. Otherwise, it was still time spent having fun. I look forward to meeting your furry companions. I am a self-employed illustrator/graphic designer. I’ll have time for pet-sitting most days or times kf the day and in any weather. I love to walk long distances and can handle dogs with high energy! I have no pets in my home currently, but I do sometimes care for my parents’ two large dogs and my sister’s two weenies when needed. The big dogs are very energetic and active, so I take them for very long walks and sometimes bring them to county parks nearby. The weenies tire out when walking, so I enjoy bringing a wagon with me in case they need a lift. I used to own two cats with my ex, but he owns them now. When I did own cats, I had a good understanding of their dietary needs and mental stimulation needs.

About: I am comfortable hanging out and cleaning up after them. I will give them the care and attention as if they were my own! I can give medicine if needed, will clean messes and litter boxes! I work from home and have the flexibility to drop in and spend time with your fur babies! I can walk or just chill, whatever is needed. I will follow your care instructions to a T - you know your pet and what's best! I will be sure to keep doors/gates closed, use crates if you instruct to, and keep a generally cleaned up space to not lose a sock ha!

Monica was amazing! She came through for me pretty much last minute and took phenomenal care of my boy. He loved spending time with her and Basil (Monica’s dog, they are practically twins). She administered his allergy meds and sent me photos and videos of my pup which meant a lot to me because I missed him so much. I absolutely recommend Monica, she is AMAZING!

Victor was so wonderful with our pups. He sent plenty of pictures and updates. They are seniors and take a decent amount of medication, which was no issue at all. They obviously were very comfortable with Victor right away and cuddled right up to him. He even put a relaxing doggy channel up on the tv when he left. So cute! We will definitely be working with Victor again.

About: I have been loving on dogs and cats whole life and taking care of them for the past ten years. I currently have two cats and had two dogs in a previous relationship so have plenty of experience with both animals. I work from home mostly and have flexibility to go on walks during the day. I also live centrally on James Island so quick access to Folly Beach, downtown, and Johns Island. I love waking up early to start the day productively so have no issue with early morning feedings or walks. I would care for clients pets in their home. My cats aren’t used to other animals and I don’t want to invade their space with random visitors.

About: My family has had dogs since I was a teen (golden retriever, poodle, and Great Pyrenees). I’ve been asked to take care of other friends’ dogs, cats, a horse, goats, and even alpacas. Deciding to get on rover because I miss having dogs, but aren’t able to own any right now! I work a full time job, 8-5p, Mondays through Fridays, but am usually able to take care of your pups over the weekend. I’m available all day on the weekdays to play with you pup, or take them on adventures (I.e. beach walks, parks, dog-friendly breweries) if you’re comfortable with that! I live in apartment complex that is on the first floor. It has plenty of sidewalks and grassy areas for easily accessible potty breaks, and walks. I am able to crate in my apartment, or have your pup hang out in my living room overnight.

Leaving a nearly 15 year old dog behind for a week is never easy, but Jess made us feel completely comfortable while we were away. She stayed with both our senior pup and our retriever mix and took wonderful care of them. Our older dog requires daily medication and a little extra attention, and Jess handled everything without issue. Her communication was excellent throughout the stay. We received daily updates and photos as well. Thank you again Jess for taking care of our pups!!

We are so lucky to find Lydia as our Pet Sitter. My two large dogs fell in love with her. My Shepherd does not take to strangers at all, but after meeting Lydia, she had him laying on the floor beside her while she was petting him. I was truly amazed and happy knowing that I would be leaving both of them with someone who they liked. I felt very confident in her, and she did not let me down. My house was as it was when I left. She had taken her sheets off the bed and had them on my washer, which I really appreciated. She respected our home and our beloved and yes spoiled brigs. We will definitely will be using Lydia again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Shell Point

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Shell Point on Rover is $54.77 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,655 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shell Point. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shell Point walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shell Point maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shell Point choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shell Point. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
