We had such a great experience with Tonya watching our house and dogs. Our older pup is a bit needy and Tonya was so good to him. We felt at ease on our vacation knowing that they were being well taken care of. She even sent us an update with pictures each night.

About: Decades of experience caring for dogs, horses, and a variety of animals. Trusted, reliable, and committed to providing safe, loving, one-on-one care tailored to each pet. Because every pet’s needs are different, I work closely with each client to create a care schedule that fits both your pet’s routine and my work schedule. Advance booking is recommended, especially during Charleston’s busy tourist seasons. I love leaving things exactly as I found them—except your pets. They’ll receive extra love, attention, playtime, companionship, and compassionate care while you’re away, giving you peace of mind when you return home.

Once again another easy stay with Jenny watching our two senior cats and 1.5 year old puppy. Very easy to communicate with, the animals are always happy and healthy. She always takes out the trash and strips the sheets at well. Thank you! 😊

Elise was fantastic! We have a somewhat challenging situation as our two dogs currently don't get along and have to be separated. Elise was really understanding and hyper aware of the situation, ensuring both dogs would be safe. Our dogs took to her immediately making us feel at ease. She sent a bunch of photos, walked the boys a ton and gave them the attention they needed! She stayed overnight at our house and was very respectful of our home. We will definitely be using Elise for future out of town trips!

I cannot recommend John highly enough for house and pet sitting. While I was traveling overseas, one of my dogs, Charlie, experienced a serious medical emergency involving multiple seizures. Being thousands of miles away, I was incredibly anxious and felt helpless. John responded immediately with professionalism, compassion, and calm under pressure. He quickly adapted to Charlie’s changing medical needs, coordinated veterinary care, administered medications as directed, closely monitored his condition, and kept me informed every step of the way. His clear communication and thoughtful updates provided tremendous peace of mind during an incredibly stressful situation. At the same time, John made sure Kimber continued to receive the same level of attention, exercise, and care, ensuring both dogs’ routines were maintained despite the unexpected circumstances. It’s one thing to care for pets during normal circumstances—it’s another to confidently manage a medical crisis with such dedication and composure. John’s reliability, compassion, and genuine concern for my dogs went far beyond my expectations. Knowing he was there allowed me to focus on getting home while trusting that Charlie and Kimber were receiving exceptional care. I would not hesitate to have John care for my home and pets again and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for someone dependable, knowledgeable, and truly invested in the well-being of their animals.

Katherine was great! She was able to accommodate my last-minute request for in-home sitting. She was fantastic at communication and met my sweet boy's needs. It was wonderful to have someone in my home whom I felt comfortable leaving my babies with. I love how many pictures she sent over the weekend, and I was able to relax and enjoy being out of town with family. I would absolutely recommend her for all of your pet setting needs, and I plan on having her watch my babies again!

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats my entire life and love them. I have been a dog walker and pet sitter in my spare time for years as well in my down time. Now that I have relocated to South Carolina from Massachusetts I am looking to rebuild those relationships with some deserving furry friends. I am available to take your pet for walks, play dates and will board them for you. I have a beautiful, clean and spacious two bedroom apartment and have all the love in the world to shower them with. Please reach out! I am available every day for mornings, afternoon and night visits, walls and boarding! I am also available for last minute check ins late at night. Whether I am hosting a pet in my home or visiting yours, I offer a high-touch, organized service. For boarding, I focus on creating a calm, predictable environment with plenty of exercise and affection. For in-home visits and walking, I leverage my experience in property management to ensure your home is treated with the utmost respect while your pet receives my undivided attention. About: I've been actively caring for animals for more than 14 years :). Growing up, I regularly pet-sat for family friends, and my family often took in stray cats and litters of kittens, giving me hands-on experience with pets of all ages and personalities. Today, I have three cats of my own and continue to pet sit for friends and family. I understand how important it is to find someone you trust with your pets, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. Whether your pet needs playtime, companionship, a consistent routine, or extra patience and attention, I'm committed to providing loving and reliable care while you're away. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I have a full-time job with a very flexible hybrid schedule. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I can work from anywhere, which gives me plenty of flexibility to provide care, check-ins, walks, or companionship throughout the day. I currently specialize in occasional bookings, vacation care, and drop-in visits. At this time, I’m not accepting recurring weekly walking schedules. I'm also fully available on weekends. At home, I care for my three cats with my partner, which allows me the flexibility to accommodate pet sitting while ensuring every pet gets the attention and care they deserve. I enjoy spending time with animals and am committed to keeping them happy, comfortable, and on their normal routine while you're away. I provide care that is tailored to each pet’s needs and routine, whether in my home or in a client’s home. In my client’s home, I focus on keeping pets comfortable by maintaining their normal schedule as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, playtime, litter box care, and any specific instructions provided. I also make sure pets get plenty of attention, affection, and companionship while their owners are away, along with regular updates for peace of mind. In my own home, pets are cared for in a calm and safe environment. I ensure they are supervised, given a consistent routine, and treated like part of the family. I currently have three cats of my own, so I understand how important it is to create a clean, low-stress space where animals feel secure and cared for.

About: I have been a lifelong pet owner and have over 15 years of professional experience working with animals. My journey began as a volunteer at an animal shelter and grew into roles as a pet groomer and veterinary technician. Currently, I am pursuing a double master’s degree with a focus on animal ethics, welfare, and conservation. In my free time, I dedicate myself to supporting local conservation initiatives and caring for animals of all kinds. With the flexibility of graduate school, I now have the opportunity to expand my pet sitting and dog walking services. I am currently providing cat sitting and dog walking for several clients in the West Ashley area and am excited to expand my services to West Ashley, John’s Island, Ravenel, Hollywood, and downtown Charleston. I love caring for dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, and other small animals. In addition to pet sitting and dog walking, I am trained to administer medications thanks to my veterinary technician background. I also offer baths and nail trims for both cats and dogs. While I am retired from full grooming, I provide “mini-makeover” services such as teeth cleaning, ear cleaning, and paw pad shave-outs. Feel free to reach out with any questions—I’d love to help care for your pets! I am currently a double masters student and a TA part time. I also have private cat sitting and dog walking clients. I have plenty of time to take on new clients as my main school schedule is twice a week in the evening. I do teach downtown three days a week for 3 hour blocks but have plenty of free time otherwise. I promise transparency, trust and commitment to taking care of any pet or animal under my supervision. As a double masters student with a focus on animal ethics, welfare and conservation, I promise the best care for your pets. Pets are family and should be treats as so. I am experienced with giving oral and intravenous medication for animals. I have previous experience as a vet technician and 15 plus years of animal husbandry skills.

About: I've owned and loved dogs across the size spectrum from tiny lap dogs to large breeds, so I know firsthand that a Newfoundland and a Papillion (I have had both breeds) need very different kinds of care, energy, and attention. That range of experience means I can adapt to your dog's specific needs, whether that's a long run, a slow walk, or just quiet couch time. I have cared for the pets of my friends and family. I work part-time on weekend nights as a tour guide, which leaves me flexible and available for daytime dog sitting and walking throughout the week, plus overnight house sitting where I stay with your pet in the comfort of their own home. I prefer to care for pets in their own environment, where they're most comfortable. That said, I may be able to host a loveable pet at my pet-friendly apartment, depending on the breed and length of stay. My building has some breed restrictions, so please inquire if you're not sure whether your pet would be a fit.

FAQs for House Sitting - Meggett

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 1,634 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Meggett. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Meggett walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Meggett maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Meggett choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Meggett. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
