About: I have been taking care of my own dogs since I was 12, and I’ve always loved training them to do cool tricks! I also, since about 14, have been taking care of other people’s dogs I am not a professional dog trainer, but I do have experience (from training my own pup) in puppy/dog training. I have my pup, Dove, who is a 9-month-old Swiss Shepherd. She is super sweet and loves to play and be outside. I also have 3 cats and 1 kitten. I just moved to Charleston. It fits in perfectly with my schedule! I don't have any other jobs currently, so I have plenty of free time to hang out with your pets! In my home, pets will not be left unattended and will be walked with leashes and harnesses. In their homes, I will always make sure doors and gates are locked and secured properly, also watching out for any signs of discomfort at all.
“Carly did a fantastic job taking care of my two cats while I was away. She was available on short notice, and she took great photos of my pets each time she checked in. Thanks Carly!”

“Sara was a phenomenal cat sitter, and we were so grateful that she was able to accept our booking the same day after our original sitter canceled. She took wonderful care of our two cats while we were away, they warmed up to her quickly, and we truly appreciate everything she did! Thank you so much, Sara!”

“Amy did a great job taking care of our extremely shy cat while we were away, even coaxing her out of her hiding spots for treats/petting. We received updates from Amy daily and notes about how our cat was doing, and felt very comfortable that she was in good hands.”

“Kristin was incredible!!! So so sweet to our kitties and sent such great updates while we were away. So grateful for her and highly recommend to anyone looking for a sitter!”

“WOW! I will be reaching out to Anna any time I need someone to let out my sweet girl. She sent so many pictures of play time and gave me a thorough message about her visit.”

“Emma watched Ava for two weeks while we were out of the country. I am so happy we had her as our sitter!! She was extremely reliable and timely and I could tell truly has a passion for animals. She is so sweet and took great care of our girl - and I would rebook her again in a heartbeat!”

“Katie was outstanding from start to finish. She was incredibly communicative throughout our entire trip, sending updates that put our minds completely at ease. She went above and beyond in every way — she proactively asked if she could take care of the litter boxes without us even having to request it, played with our cats regularly, and was on top of defrosting their food at exactly the right times. It's rare to find someone this thoughtful and reliable. We came home to two happy, well cared for kitties and a spotless setup. Cannot recommend Katie enough — she will absolutely be our go-to sitter going forward. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“Colby is so great and reliable! We have complete piece of mind knowing that she is checking up and taking care of our very energetic Doberman pup and we highly recommend Colby for your dog sitting needs!”

About: Hi! I had my doggie for 11.5 years and have worked at animal shelters, a zoo, and PetSmart in the past. I LOVE all kinds of animals and would love to help you take care of yours. I'm happy to help with small pet and reptile drop in visits/feeding as well. I have some training experience and will keep all your routines and rules on walks and visits. No request is too specific or strange! I work full time downtown and have a very predictable schedule. I do have some flexibility to leave early or be late some days, with notice. I live on James Island and have a reliable car. I know how important routines and predictability are for our pets. I will follow any and all rules, training, and routines you have for your pets. I'm happy to go the extra mile for "weird" requests as well (like if your pup needs a song before dinner or needs their food fake cooked in order to eat). Feel free to provide a checklist, a binder of instructions, or whatever makes you most comfortable!
“Ally was amazing! She was so thoughtful and thorough with our old dog Boone. Her messages and photos each walk assured us he was getting the best care. I would 100% recommend her to be your pet sitter and we will absolutely hire her again!”

About: I have had dogs my entire life and have pet sat for lots of my neighbors and family friends. My family currently has three crazy labs so I know how to care for multiple at once with different personalities! I am working in a restaurant and have plenty of time in the mornings, afternoons, and on my days off to care for and walk your pet ! Having dogs my whole life, I have perfected the skill of walking dogs and caring for them, inside and outside of the house. I will love any dog I get the chance to meet!
“Brittany did an amazing job caring for my fur babies while I was away! She kept me updated with photos and comments about how they were doing and made me feel super comfortable! I would definitely recommend her and use her again!”

“Lydia is amazing!! She is so sweet and patient with our pups. They were well taken care of when she stayed the weekend with them. We came back to a house cleaner than we left it!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Avondale
We couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter! She did a fantastic job taking care of Crooks and Piggy while we were away. The house was fresh and clean when we got home, and she sent us pictures every day so we could see how happy and relaxed they were. We truly felt like our cats were in the best possible hands the entire time. Highly recommend, thank you so much!

Victoria was one of the best sitters I’ve had to date! She was extremely thorough and deeply cared about the wellbeing of my animals (their routines, play time, favorite toys, etc.). My cats are absolutely OBSESSED with her, and I know if I ever need to go out of town anytime soon, she’s definitely the sitter I’m contacting. Can confirm she’s a 12 out of 10 great sitter and person!! Definitely book her!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Avondale. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
