“Gionna was great! From the first message I sent to inquire through the last message after her last walk with Roxy! Her communication was spot on and her care for Roxy was very assuring. She came for a meet and greet since she was Roxy’s first walker. They hit it off and had great walks while I was gone making me more relaxed and less worried to enjoy my weekend away. Thank you Gionna, we can’t wait to work with you again!”

About: I have over 13 years experience doing vet assistant and vet technician tasks and skills as a volunteer at The Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge, IL. I have been employed as part of the membership and philanthropic department at Lincoln Park Zoo from which I learned a great deal, stemming from my biology classes on taxonomy to zoology, to specific animal facts and conservation of threatened animals. I therefore know a great deal of educational background on animal behavior. I studied psychology and comparitive human psychology/animal behavior with a bachelors in science from IIT. I have grown up with dogs, cats, and ferrets. At Southwest Animal Care Center, I bathed, fed, walked, medicated, and cared for boarding and patient animals. I graduated with my veterinary assistant certificate in 2018. After graduating from IIT, I became a kennel attendant and learned a great deal about how to care for animals. Pet care is a daily task for me as I take care for two little fuzzbutt ferrets, Icarus and Agatha. Icarus often wakes me up with his bushy tailed excitement. I'm lucky to have such wonderful critters in my life. Right now, I am only offering dog walking and off-site at client's home services. From what I've read from the anthropologist book "Inside of a Dog" by Alexandra Horowitz, animals, especially dogs, crave human attention so being attentive to an animal's needs is to me, what's most important. This includes communicating with animals to know when they need a bathroom break, when they want play, when they want affection and cuddles, when they want nappy time, being fed according to what their schedule is, and of course, offering healthy treats (if allowed) and new novel smells, toys, etc. I can manage 4-5 walks per day with one or multiple dogs at a time 5-6 days a week. This is my main job and I'm dedicated to providing top care as if they are my own. I take extra care to be a courteous and contentious guest in the owner's home. I treat my stay with respect and humbly care. You can trust me to provide excellent care and keep everything tidy and clean.

“With the busy schedules my husband and I have, we use Melissa weekly for recurring walks. She is great about picking up extra walks when we need, so our fur baby has some consistency with all traveling I do for work. Bruno loves her and I love the peace of mind she gives us! Thanks Melissa for all you do!”

About: I’ve lived around animals since I was a little girl and have owned a diverse range of pets myself. I grew up caring for my Hungarian Vizsla into college as well, even while he got sick and eventually had to be put down. I have experience owning rabbits, gerbils, dogs, cats. I live with two sweet cats now with my boyfriend and his mother, I’m home most of the time taking care of them. I love animals and have always felt more comfortable with them than humans sometimes. I believe every pet should be taken care of with compassion and a watchful eye. I understand animal body language and always respect what the animal needs or wants for their own sake and for my safety. I’d be honored to help any family with their furry babies! Since I am a university student online my schedule is very open and flexible. I expect most pet sitting jobs to require seeing the animals at least 3 times a day, every day needed. I am looking for another part time job but would allow me to leave work in cases where animals need care in the afternoon as well. Our cats are kept inside most of the time but we do have a yard with a fence that allows them to be outside supervised. If the weather allows for it, we let them out to get exercise in and just have some stimulation. We have to feed them separately as one cat likes to try to steal food from the other. They’re both on their diets to lose some weight so feeding times are in order now for them.

About: I know how important it is to have a sitter you can trust and that will provide all your pet needs while you're away. I've had pets around me my whole life. I've cared for other pets while family or friends have been away and have become really good at reading different animal emotions and recognizing what they may need. Whether it be cats or dogs, I am confident in my abilities to form a relationship with your pet so they are comfortable with me and I will be sure your pet knows they are safe and cared for even when you aren't there. I work at a school so, during the week, I am available to care for your pet(s) from early afternoon (around 3:30pm depending on the commute) until the evening (around 9:30pm) and may be able to squeeze in some early attention before work between around 6am-7am. during typical weekends I can be much more available to check in on your pet(s) multiple times if needed. You can be sure that while I am in your house / on your property my only focus is on your pet and what they need. I will only access supplies or areas that have been "okayed" by you and you can be sure your belongings will never be touched, taken, or tampered with and your pet will be cared for and have all they need while you're away
“June can be nervous initially but warmed up to Patrycja quickly! I can tell June enjoyed her walks by the pictures and updates sent! Patrycja really went above and beyond to make sure June was comfortable! We both appreciated the help today! Thank you!”

“I recently adopted a rescue who is having a hard time adjusting to new people. Kathryn did a great job with him! Despite him growling at her she was patient with him and helped him calm down so she could walk him. She was reliable and understanding. I then asked her if she could come again last minute and without hesitation she agreed! I would definitely work with Kathryn again!”

About: Hello, my name is Maritza. I’ve taken care of dogs and other pets for about 15 years. Family, friends and, neighbors have relied on me to babysit their dogs for a day or days while on vacation or business trips. I have experience on feeding them, bathing them, potty training them, and understanding the love language and their comfort zone. For me a pet is not only a pet. They are family. I’m currently working part time so I have plenty of time to babysit and play with your pet. In addition to that, my part-time job is very flexible and is only a couple of hours a day three days a week. So I could work around your schedule if needed. I live in a peaceful and safe neighborhood with lovely neighbors, and I have a fenced yard all around. Your pedal would be more than safe here.
“Sandy & her son PJ are fantastic with my high energy pup, Ace. They are on time & consistent & Ace is completely exhausted upon his return. He seems to really enjoy himself. 🐾. I highly recommend them.”

“My Stella and I were extremely happy with Margaret’s dog walking services. My Stella loved her at first sight. A sixty-one pound dog can be hard to handle and Margaret handled Stella with ease. Always willing to accommodate changed walking times, extremely reliable and very friendly. I plan on using Margaret in the future. Five star service for sure!”

About: I enjoy one on one care with your pets only, I’d like to dedicate walks and playtime for just them when needed in your home or mine. Offering care Monday- Friday as well as weekend care for those out of town trips. I currently have plenty of time for play and care for your pets, as my schedule is mostly flexible when it comes to weekdays. I can also accommodate most weekends. I have two lovely dogs of my own who love long nature walks and enjoy playing at the dog park. I’d love to interact with your dogs and see what their favorite things to do are.
About: I’ve always had a natural connection with animals, especially dogs, and finally welcomed my own pup, Leia, into my life five years ago. Since then, I’ve handled all of her training, walks, feeding schedule, etc., myself. I learned a lot from years of watching "It’s Me or the Dog," and put what I've learned into practice with my dog, Leia. What sets me apart is my mix of genuine love for dogs, hands‑on training experience, and a calm, reliable presence. I’m excited to meet your pup and give them a walk they’ll remember; one that’s safe, stimulating, and tailored to their personality. I am a college student at DePaul University, majoring in Finance and Criminology. I commute on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I am free to walk your furry friend any day that isn't Tuesday or Thursday :) I have one energetic five-year-old Wheaton terrier whom I have trained by myself. I walk her at least once a day, feed her, play with her, and train her when time allows. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow your established rules and routines to ensure your dog feels comfortable and stress‑free. I pay close attention to safety — from securely leashing during walks to double‑checking doors, gates, and feeding instructions. My goal is to treat your pet and your home with the same care and respect I give my own.

About: I love dogs. I have had one Doberman, one mutt who was the best, and two English Mastiffs. I had a dog everyday of my life until five years ago when my 200 pound English Mastiff named Max died. It broke my heart and hasn't felt right to replace him. But I love dogs and cherish watching the relationship people have with their dogs. I say hi to every pooch on the street that I pass. Rest assured, your dog will be treated with the utmost friendliness and care imaginable. I work from home so your dog will always have a friendly companion around. A side note. No Pit Bulls, No Rottweilers, No Stafford Terriers, No Husky of any sort, and No Doodles of any sort. I'm sure if any of these five dogs are part of your family that you are a wonderful person and so is your dog. However, they are far from my cup of tea. I work from home. I'm home basically all the time. And other than that, I just work on landscaping my front and back yards. I have a fenced in yard. Your pet is in great hands. I work from home. About: Hi there! I'm Maya. I'm a newbie to the pet-sitting scene however I've been around dogs my whole life. I also am a pet mom of 5 years to two dogs, named Millie and Matcha. I also had a dog for 13 years. I took great care of her. I knew what she needed and when.
“Megan was a wonderful addition to our extended pet family! She was on time and always sent every update on every walk with photos. She’s a very kind woman and my pets loved her! She took my one dog on walks and helped my senior dog go outside and was successful in keeping my escape artist cat in the house. She fed them right and was just very accommodating to their every need. I will definitely use her again and I recommend her to you! Thanks Megan!”

Kaitlyn is very careful, caring and responsible! Had great communication and went out of their way to make sure i knew everything that was going on with my pet! The job was taken on last minute and I appreciate that she had questions and made sure i felt comfortable with everything too. Highly recommend Kaitlyn!

I was lucky to find Laura. Our regular dog walker had an emergency situation so I had to find someone to walk my dog for 2 days. My dog is 15 and moves sometimes at a snails pace but my dog liked her walks with Laura so much she had an extra pep in her step. She also ensured my dog had fresh water before she left. She is caring and compassionate. We were lucky to have found her on such short notice.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
