“Shayna was excellent! We were very nervous leaving our overly anxious labradoodle for a few days and Shayna put all of those nerves to rest. She is clearly a professional. Thank you so much for everything Shayna!”

“Chelsea is such a wonderful sitter !!! My dog absolutely loves her and her family. It’s great knowing that my dog is in great hands when I’m away and Chelsea always takes great care of her. Highly recommend Chelsea !!”

“I left my dog with Dara for 2.5 weeks and I did not worry about him at all. Finding a good Rover is tricky especially that my dog is reactive and can’t stay with other dogs. She consistently sent updates with photos and I loved hearing about his little quirks! I appreciate her celebrating his birthday too! I can tell that my dog had a great time, we highly recommend Dara!”

“Amy was the best …. Took amazing care of my fur baby I knew he was in good hands ❤️ got pictures and videos and updates really made me feel at ease with everything while I was gone”

“Shani (and her kiddos☺️) LOVED on my pup while I was away. Shani was an excellent communicator and sent update photos and videos, too. I really appreciated such good communication and how well Lady was taken care of. When you see your dog smiling in the update photos, you know it’s real. I’ll be looking to book Shani for my next trip away.”

“Sandy was great, she was sweet and kind, I could tell Jax was comfortable with her as soon as we arrived. She sent us consistent photo updates which really put me at ease on my trip knowing he was in good hands and having the best time!”

“Bridget was amazing with our dog, Miller. Miller has separation anxiety and can be a hit or miss with sitters, but he warmed up to Bridget and her family right away. Great communication and felt extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend to let your dog stay with her family and pup of her own who is both adorable and friendly.”

“Cassandra took great care of my dog Ace during his 4-day stay. I can tell he had a good time hanging out with her dog, Chewy. Cassandra was a pleasure to work with and I hope to use her services again for future boarding.”

“My Gizelle walked right into Victoria's place inspecting every corner before Victoria could give her a proper greeting! Gizelle was very comfortable and tool to Victoria who sent photos throughout the days I was gone. Somehow Victoria got Gizelle to use a pee pad and play with a toy. Things she never does at home. I am grateful for Victoria's care. Thank you!”

“Liliana and her family gave me such peace of mind to leave my Whiskey in their care. The initial visit with the family in their beautiful home was so warm and friendly. And while I was away, I was so grateful for the updates and pics throughout each day. Whiskey got attached to one of Liliana’s teenage daughters. So sweet!”

“Guillermina absolutely took care of our pup really well! She provided daily updates where he looked extremely happy, comfortable and at home. Would recommend her services to anybody.”

“Elisa did a great job with Winston. It is not easy dealing with a high-energy 7-month puppy who is new to boarding and meeting other animals like kittens. She is very attentive, provides prompt pictures/updates, and Winston enjoys her fenced yard and dog.She is on my "speed dial."”

“Thankful to have met Susan & her grandson to help me care for my little kitty Church. This is the second time I've boarded him while I was away for my studies. I felt very comfortable leaving my little man knowing he was cared for as I care for him at home. Highly recommend to board ✨”

“This was my first time using this app. We needed a cat sitter last minute and I came across Susseth’s profile. She had so many amazing reviews and she responded back with thoughtful questions and was ready to assist me with any questions I had. Our cats stayed 8 days and she sent pictures and videos throughout their visit. She truly cared and loved on them. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. We’ll definitely be going back to Susseth again soon.”

“Sarai was awesome. Even though our conversations were short due to a language barrier, she took care of Aly like she was one of her own. She allowed her to burrow on her sofa and even sleep on her bed. Aly had play time with other dogs and she had fun romping around in a huge fenced in yard. Sarai also updated daily with photos and videos. I will be booking her again for two weeks.”

“Bailey is a dog whisperer. She took care of our poodle mix over the holiday and was extremely communicative and sent pics and videos/ so that we knew he was in good hands. She is so sweet and has a genuine understanding and love for dogs. Highly recommend! !”

“We planned our trip ahead of time and Bola made sure to keep open communication along the way. As we dropped our pup off to Bola, the transition was very easy. While Bola had Junie, Bola made sure to keep us updated with pictures. Thanks Bola”

“Barbara had great communication and provided pics and updates. I appreciated that she provided my pup with lots of activity and our dog was pooped when she got home!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hometown
Karina went above and beyond to make our dog Tlali feel right at home and us more than comfortable with leaving her with someone else for the first time since we've adopted her. We're always stressed about vetting people for things like this and Karina made it a no-brainer to choose her. We're now much less stressed about needing to find Tlali care and looking forward to Karina helping us in the future!

My dog, King, and cat, Zi, stayed with Jessica for 9 nights. This was my first experience with Rover and pet sitting in general. Jessica is a very attentive care taker. I was not sure how King would do in a new environment. King is a stray dog we took in about a year ago. While he has improved greatly he is still anxious and can become easily frightened. Jessica and her fur babies took King in with open arms and paws. Jessica was a great communicator who updated me everyday. She worked with King to get outside in the yard even though he hesitated. Her yard is secure with high fences. King enjoyed playing with Jessica's puppy. So it was great that he bonded with the other doggies. Zi is a pretty chill cat who likes to get cuddles. Jessica made sure she felt loved. Zi has some unsolved health issues that have led to weight loss. Jessica kept an eye on her eating. It got to a point where she reported Zi was not eating so I delivered different food with the hopes that she would eat. Luckily, Zi was interested in the new food. Overall, I would use Jessica again if we needed a long term pet sitter again.

I couldn’t be happier with the care my dog received! This was my first time trusting someone new, and they completely exceeded my expectations. They were kind, patient, attentive, and made sure my fur baby felt comfortable and loved while I was away. They kept me updated, which gave me so much peace of mind. It’s not easy leaving your pet with someone for the first time, but they made the entire experience stress-free. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter. Thank you so much—I will definitely be booking with you again!

We had a wonderful experience with our Rover sitter, Jim! He boarded our 5 month old American Eskimo puppy, Millie, over the busy Fourth of July weekend and we couldn't have been happier with the care he provided. This was our puppy's first time away from home and he made it such a positive experience! Thank you!

This was the first time we used Rover and we couldn't be happier. Matt was great with our 4 year old German Shepherd. He gave her plenty of attention and played ball with her. He sent me pictures and videos everyday. She stayed there for 7 nights and when we picked her up, she was excited to see us but was not trying to leave. She felt at home there and very well cared for. I am more than pleased.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Matt & Leslie are absolutely amazing! My 15-year-old Australian Shepherd, Bear, requires special attention with his medication, mobility, and feeding, and they cared for him with such compassion and dedication. They even built a ramp to make Bear more comfortable during his stay — that level of thoughtfulness meant the world to me. They also sent me daily photos while I was away, which gave me so much peace of mind and let me see how happy and well cared for Bear was. It is such a blessing to find people who treat your dog like family. I feel SO BLESSED to have found Matt & Leslie, and I recommend them wholeheartedly. Five stars all the way!

Jose was incredible! He was able to take care of Riley in such short notice, sent me consistent updates and pictures of my boy playing with his adorable dog, Solomon. He was communicative about everything that could’ve came up. Overall an amazing sitter I’d recommend to anyone. Would be grateful to have Jose take care of Riley again in the future if he’s able to! :)

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
