“This is our second time with Salem who did a wonderful job house sitting our 2 pups. Frequent updates, happy dogs and clean house when we returned. Will definitely ask to come back in the future!”

“Great experience with Ryana. It was a last minute appt so we couldn’t do a meet and greet ahead of time but she came 30 min early to learn about Zuko and his routine. She was very communicative the whole time and kept us updated also with pics. Would highly recommend.”

“Miki did an outstanding job caring for Cinder(ella) at our home. Very good communication. You can always tell when someone TRULY cares and is an animal lover. Miki is exactly that. I recommend her services and would use her again without a second thought.”

“Great house sitting experience with Kristen for our two dogs! She kept us updated with texts and pictures. Our house was very clean and pups were super happy when we came back. Will definitely ask Kristen to house sit again!”

“Aline was outstanding with my elderly baby. He's practically blind and she did everything to make him feel safe and comfortable. She stayed in my home with him. He connected with her from the very beginning. She perfectly gave him his medicines (pills and liquids), she made sure he wore a diaper at night and when she was away. And she gave him all the snuggles he wanted. She looked after my Max perfectly and I will definitely book her again!”

“Amber was wonderful and took very good care of our dogs. One had a small injury that happened the day before she started watching them and she was amazing about rolling with that punch.”

“Kathleen took great care of our pups. We were a little nervous to leave them in the care of someone they didn’t know but they were very comfortable with her from the start. She was communicative and sent plenty of updates and photos to assure us that they were doing well and having fun.”

“Haylie was very caring and gave multiple report on Stanley’s condition as he was recovering from an accident. She did not cut corners with his walks and time needed outside. She even made sure to carry water and bowl in case he got over heated.”

About: I have been around animals my entire life, especially dogs and cats, and I have experience caring for pets of all ages and personalities. In addition to growing up around pets, I have pet sat for friends and family on numerous occasions, including caring for a bunny. I have hands-on experience with feeding, walking, playtime, and providing daily care. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and making sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while their owners are away. Whether this is your first time using Rover or you’ve used pet sitters before, you can trust that your pet will be treated like family and receive the best care possible. I currently work part-time, which allows me to maintain a flexible schedule. I do my best to accommodate last-minute bookings whenever possible and will communicate clearly about my availability. My goal is to make the pet-sitting experience as stress-free and positive as possible for both you and your pet. Please tell me as much as possible about your pet ahead of time. I want to provide the best care possible, so it is helpful to know about their routine, personality, favorite activities, medications, dietary restrictions, health concerns, behavioral quirks, and any specific instructions or “no-no’s.” The more I know, the better I can keep their routine consistent and ensure they feel comfortable while you’re away.
“She did really great watching our two rambunctious boys, we received many updates as it was our first trip without taking them. We would highly recommend her to watch anyone’s babies, and we are definitely going to be hiring her again. Thanks for all you did for Mason and Houdini Kiki.”

“Marissa was available to step in last minute when thanksgiving plans changed and stayed an extra night when the weather held us up on our return. The crew seemed happy and taken care of when I got back.”

About: Over 20 years of experience of dog walking pet sitting - from puppies to older pups. Currently working towards certification to become a veterinary assistant :) I'm currently on summer vacation as a teacher so I have plenty of time to hang out, play, and walk your pets. During the school year I'm often available on weeknights, weekends, and holidays :) I am currently not hosting pets in my home as I have a grumpy senior dog prone to seizures if overly excited. At your home, I will follow any rules or boundaries that you set in place :)
“Rachel was fantastic. She took great care of Murphy who can be a little skittish at times. She did everything I asked her to do. When I returned home my house was just as clean as when I left and Murphy greeted me at the door (a good sign he had a good weekend too). Thanks Rachel.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Genlee
Our dog loves Kyle. Our family went on a 17-day international trip and had Kyle house sit our 5 month puppy Wooloo. Wooloo loved Kyle a lot. The house was kept clean and everything where they should be. We received pictures every day which made our mind at ease during the whole trip. We are so thankful!

Great experience from start to finish. Lacey gives you complete confidence that your pet(s) are in the best hands. She made sure she had all the relevant information recorded so that she didn’t have to trouble me unnecessarily while I was away, then gave regular updates with a well written summary of the day and great pics (really great pics!). One of my dogs had a GI upset and Lacey dealt with that with minimal fuss. You can tell that she really loves animals and that provides great reassurance. I couldn’t have left my boys in better hands! On top of that, she clearly prides herself on taking care of your house and makes coming home as painless as possible. No hesitation in recommending.

Aline was outstanding with my elderly baby. He's practically blind and she did everything to make him feel safe and comfortable. She stayed in my home with him. He connected with her from the very beginning. She perfectly gave him his medicines (pills and liquids), she made sure he wore a diaper at night and when she was away. 10 Stars Super Duper Star Sitter indeed! We booked Miranda at the last minute when our scheduled pup sitter had a medical emergency before a week-long trip out of town. Our 3 dogs loved her; she provided multiple updates a day with pictures, and our house was immaculate when we returned. Would love to have her watch our pups and our house again in the future
Danielle was absolutely wonderful! I booked with her last minute and she was super flexible with scheduling a meet and greet with my pups before hand. I have one dog that gets scared and anxious around new people but she was not thrown off one bit and took her time to let my dog warm up to her. She was super communicative while I was gone (even sent daily pictures)! I will definitely be booking with her again!

Taylor did a wonderful job with my pup! She’s punctual and attentive, with very a calm and friendly demeanor which helped keep my dogs emotions balanced while I was away. She was mindful of my dogs schedule and remembered her medications. I came back to a very clean apartment and a happy dog. I highly recommend Taylor!

Claire took excellent care of our senior cat who needs medication administered twice daily. She was very attentive and patient while finding the right way to coax him to eat and finish his medicine. I appreciate her attention to detail and helpful hints! I will be booking Claire again and highly recommend her service!

Marnie house sat for me during a week-long vacation that I took recently. I had read Marnie's reviews and was excited to meet someone with such a wealth of experience with all kinds of animals. I felt Marnie's positive energy immediately when I met her at our meet and greet. My dog, Cookie, and my cat, Lula, responded to her warmth and energy as soon as she walked in. Marnie made a very careful note of everything about Cookie's and Lula's routines and everything necessary to care for my place. She kept in touch with me during the whole week, sending me fabulous daily photos of Cookie and Lula, and keeping a careful eye on both of them since they were off their food at the start of the week. Cookie was very stressed on the first day, adjusting to someone new, but his stress disappeared as soon as Marnie reassured him ever so gently that everything was OK. If I could give Marnie 10 stars for all that she did for Cookie, Lula and me, I would do it!! I am very excited and looking forward to having Marnie take care of my little ones every time I go away!!! I will always know that they are in such experienced, professional and caring hands. Thank you Marnie!!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Genlee
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Genlee on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,000 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Genlee. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Genlee walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Genlee maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Genlee choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Genlee. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
