“Fantastic!!! Amazing!!! Almost scared to review - her schedule may become too packed to sit for Bodhi again :) In all seriousness, Salem was beyond attentive - sent more photos than I could have imagined- updated us regarding his meals, meds, and behaviors. His photos demonstrated how happy he was - and well cared for. Our Bodhi is a huge dog with separation anxiety and needs the "right sitter." Salem was more than right! She was perfect. Communicative, Caring, Compassionate, Complete care. Will 100% hire her again!”

“Alessandria did a great job keeping my dogs safe and happy. I appreciate that she was able to be flexible on times as I wasn't sure with the weather if we were going to make it back on time. The house was left neat and tidy, and she helped prepare for a bad winter storm coming.”

“Cameron was amazing. My dog is very nervous and doesn't open up to anyone new, not even sitters I've had for years. As is her usual, I told Cameron she likely wouldn't even come out of her crate for him, but I got pictures of her playing tug, getting belly rubs, and lying by his side. I was astonished. Cameron checked in regularly and sent tons of pictures and videos. Highly recommended.”

“Anna did a wonderful job looking after our two boys. She was incredibly caring and attentive, spending time playing with them and even creating new activities to keep them engaged. She consistently kept us updated on how their day was going and shared pictures, which gave us great peace of mind. Anna paid close attention to all of our needs, and communication with her was always smooth and easy. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would happily recommend her to anyone.”

“Alexandra was great and sent me updates on my old man while I was away. She took the time to take him on walks and made him feel safe. Hes very anxious but he seemed to be comfortable with her. Would definitely recommend”

“Sia was an awesome pet/house sitter for our old hound and very shy cat. The house was clean and the pets were happy and healthy when we returned. Both animals have health issues and many meds to manage. Sia took care of everyone. Sia even drove to the vet to pick up a new prescription that our cat needed. Great communication and super helpful!”

About: I have 5 cats of my own as well as a small dog, and I cherish all animals. I have been petsitting for family and friends since I was about 10, and am flexibly available to take care of your babies when you need. I'm a high-school senior about to graduate, so during the summer I will have plenty of free time to devote to taking care of your animals! I will do anything requested of me regarding caring for your pets in your home, including keeping them company, going on walks, and giving them plenty of love.
“Avery was a phenomenal house and pet sitter for us! She took care of our dog, and three cats for the weekend, and I'd never had such peace of mind when leaving our fur babies. She gave an update per day, but was willing to give more if asked, and our house was clean and exactly the way we'd left it when we returned. We're definitely booking with Avery again!”

“Madison was a life saver! Very professional and responsible, I was not worried while I was out of town and she took great care of the house. She even came back by when my return was delayed! Highly recommend!”
“Suzanne took great care of my special needs dog, rambunctious puppy, and sweet cat while I was away for an extended period. I highly recommend her as your next sitter! She’s the best!”

“If I could leave more than 5 stars, I would. I was super stressed about leaving our puppy here while on vacation, and she made it absolutely painless, anxiety free, and more. We received so many pictures and videos and there was constant communication. We came home to a clean house, a happy puppy, and she even helped us with puppyifying our place so she doesn’t get into things she’s not supposed to. Brittney will be our go to from now on.”

“Meredith has been absolutely incredible as our house and catsitter over a week-long trip. We have a somewhat complicated situation (some of our cats don't get along), and she's navigated that wonderfully. She provided many pictures and detailed summaries to help us understand how they've been doing and has been responsive to suggestions or requests along the way. Meredith really went above and beyond, and I would happily recommend her services and hope to work with her again in the future.”

“Alexander was a terrific dogsitter for our high-energy 3-1/2 year old Black Lab. We appreciated his immediate response to our Rover request when we were called out of town on short notice. He set our minds at ease as we could see how quickly Zoey took to him. Alexander posted photos and videos for us while we were away, which was such a comfort. We will definitely plan to ask for him again!”

About: I've been caring for dogs and other pets for the past 20 years and am a trusted housesitter in Durham, Chapel Hill, and beyond! I've provided extended care and regular housesitting for up to a month at a time in my home or theirs. In my own home, I have a fenced yard and no other pets, providing a great setup for boarding. I love spending time with animals and can't wait to meet your pet, large or small, fosters and rescues! I'm also experienced with birds, rabbits, and other small animals. I'm reliable, organized, and ready to work with you to provide the safest and most enjoyable experience for your pet. I have a flexible work schedule and love hanging with pets during the work day, whether staying in your home with your pet, boarding them in my home with a fenced yard, or providing drop-in care and walks. I can provide bathroom breaks every 4-6 hours most days. I'm a trusted housesitter for several local families, providing extended care in their homes for up to a month at a time over the past few years. In my own home, I have a fenced yard and no other pets. I do have a variety of indoor plants, so dogs that chew on plants may not be a good fit safety-wise.
“Lydia was super accommodating with last-minute housesitting. She also did great with our pit-mixes who aren’t the most well mannered. Definitely recommend Lydia!”

“Kay was lovely, we are glad we trusted her to watch our pups. When we got home from our vacation, they seemed relaxed and happy. We got daily updates, extra support trying to encourage them to eat, and we came back to a very well kept home. Thank you, Kay!”

Alexander was a terrific dogsitter for our high-energy 3-1/2 year old Black Lab. We appreciated his immediate response to our Rover request when we were called out of town on short notice. Sarah was an amazing pet sitter for my pups! She took care of them while I was out of town for over a week. She sent me photos and updates on them everyday, which I really appreciated, and went above and beyond taking care of the house as well! Sarah was also very attentive to my older dog who sometimes has stomach issues. I’ll definitely be rebooking soon, and recommend her to anyone!

Cameron couldn’t have taken better care of Beanie or our house! He was very responsible and communicative, sent many updates, and we came home to a clean home and happy pup. He clearly loves dogs, and went above and beyond to take good care of her. We’d book Cameron again in a heartbeat

Corey did well with my crew on an extended trip, also took care of the house, even when asked to do a few extra things. Everyone was happy when I got home. Would have liked more detailed updates such as how they were eating or doing, and he went a little rogue on treats that I didn’t want them to have, but overall everyone was happy when I returned.

Alex did a fantastic job taking care of our two kitties - especially because one of them is elderly and had a health emergency the day before we left. Undaunted, she gave him two kinds of medicine daily and treated both of them with loving kindness. Sent great photos every day. We would not hesitate to trust her with care of our home and pets again in the future.

FAQs for House Sitting - Joyland
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Joyland on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,941 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Joyland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Joyland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Joyland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Joyland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Joyland. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
