“It was great that Maria made the time to do a meet & greet prior to taking care of my dogs for a few days! I got lots of pictures while my pups were cared for, & they were happy & healthy when I got back!”

“This is the second time Salem has pet-sat for me. She's very good at communicating and sending updates. She keeps the house nice and tidy and is very trustworthy. My dog seems very happy when Salem's taking care of her.”

“Marlena is fantastic. I never leave reviews so that tells you something. My senior dog has diabetes and other issues and has gotten very used to me being home. I was definitely the “anxious parent”. Marlena came over and met both of us and then right before my trip, came over again. She very much allowed me to enjoy my trip. Bogie didn’t want to see her go. I would use her again without hesitation. 5/5. Thanks Marlena for taking such good care of my boy!”

“Kelsey was a delightful house sitter for my cats and dog. They seemed to delight in each other. She was very communicative and respectful of my home and asked questions when necessary. She had a handful with my crew and handled it all very well. Would recommend and use her again.”

“Rachel was prompt and responsive with meeting our pup and in communications. I would recommend Rachel and we will likely reach out to her for future stays with Domino. Thanks, Rachel!”

“Kristen did a great job with my 3 "babies". They were naturally comfortable with her and she with them. My dog followed her around and snuggled with her. I will rebook again. Thanks Kristen!!”

“It is obvious Syria loves animals! She made us feel very comfortable about leaving our dog for a week. she sent updates and pictures and made us feel like we didn't have to worry at all! we will definitely invite Syria back again!”

“Leslie was absolutely wonderful while house sitting for my dogs, Roo and Ringo. From the moment we connected, she was kind, personable, and easy to communicate with, which gave me a lot of confidence while I was away. She took excellent care of both dogs, followed all of my instructions carefully, and made sure their routines stayed consistent. One thing I especially appreciated was how proactive she was with updates. She regularly sent messages and photos, which gave me peace of mind and let me see that Roo and Ringo were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I would not hesitate to book Leslie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy sitter. Roo and Ringo were in great hands!”

“Kelsey was a great sitter for our little lab piper. Lots of updates throughout the sitting and left our pup nice and tired out. We’d always look for Kelsey if in need again!”

“Hallie is a phenomenal pet sitter. She took great care of our dog and our home. She even stayed a couple extra nights when our flights were canceled last minute! We loved the photos she sent and we could tell our girl was happy spending time with Hallie while we were away. Can’t recommend her highly enough!”

“Lily was great!! Daisy loved her, while I was away she sent pictures and let me know Daisy was doing well. I will hire her again if I have to travel and would definitely recommend her!!!”

“Maria is so nice and wonderful! We booked her for house sitting and she made sure my cats were loved and properly looked after. She was able to administer medication to my cat just fine, which was something I was nervous about initially. My cats loved her and both the house and cats were well when I got back! Thank you so much <3”

“We’ve had to rely on Brooke for a lot of house sitting this month, and she’s one of the most reliable sitters we’ve used. Always gives timely updates and consistent care. Thanks, Brooke!”

We have had many dog sitters through Rover over many years and many dogs! Brooke was the “BEST “ dog sitter we have ever had! Her daily communication and puppy pictures were so welcome knowing our Maddie girl was getting such good care and love! I would highly recommend Brooke!

Owen did an amazing job watching our house and our dog, Oliver, for 5 days. He was incredibly kind, highly complimentary, and took fantastic care of everything. We returned to a happy pup and a perfectly kept home. We highly recommend Owen to anyone looking for a reliable, sweet, and trustworthy sitter!"

Anna has watched my dog Lulu twice and has done a wonderful time each visit. My dog can be somewhat shy and does better when sitters stay with her to give her time to warm up. Anna was great at working with me to figure out the best schedule and time my dog needed to feel comfortable. Looking forward to booking Anna again!

Kristin was exceptional! She really cared about the wellbeing and safety of our three dogs. It is such a relief to have someone you can trust and depend on so that we could fully our vacation. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants a dog sitter who takes care of your dogs like her own.

Our dog loves Kyle. Our family went on a 17-day international trip and had Kyle house sit our 5 month puppy Wooloo. Wooloo loved Kyle a lot. The house was kept clean and everything where they should be. We received pictures every day which made our mind at ease during the whole trip. We are so thankful!

Marlena was great with Maddie. This was our first experience leaving our dog with someone other than family and it went great. Maddie was well taken care of by Marlena. She sent us updates and pictures during her stay, which we really appreciated. We will definitely be requesting Marlena again!

Polina was absolutely amazing with our almost 5-month-old puppy, Sadie! She stayed with her for a full week and took such great care of both our dog and our home. She was incredibly attentive, kept us updated with frequent messages and lots of pictures, and made it so easy for us to relax while we were away. It was clear Sadie was happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, communicative, and caring dog sitter—we would definitely book with her again!

Taylor did a wonderful job with my pup! She’s punctual and attentive, with very a calm and friendly demeanor which helped keep my dogs emotions balanced while I was away. She was mindful of my dogs schedule and remembered her medications. I came back to a very clean apartment and a happy dog. I highly recommend Taylor!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carpenter walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carpenter maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carpenter choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
