About: Dogs have been my constant companions throughout my life, and I've loved training and caring for them every step of the way. Currently volunteering with the La Plata County Humane Society has only deepened my commitment to animal welfare. Since I work from home, your pet will rarely be alone. I'll keep you connected with plenty of photos and updates, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your best friend is in loving hands. Since I work from home, your pet will rarely be alone. I do not have any hobbies or obligations that would take me away from them for more than a few hours. If your pet has any special needs, I am sure I can accommodate. I will care for your pets however you may wish! I love playing with dogs, taking them on walks or to the dog park, or simply lounging at home with them. About: I've been caring for animals as long as I can remember, from chickens to horses, to, of course, dogs! I grew up living near a lot of farmland, so I always had special respect for animals. Being away from home for my education, I miss my parents' dogs and cats a lot. I've spent a lot of time in Durango volunteering to take my friends' dogs to the dog park, on walks, etc. I'm excited to meet you and your pup! Over the summer, I'm working a part-time job that gives me a lot of free time! More likely than not, I'll have time to take care of your pets. I spend a lot of time pet sitting for friends, so I already spend a lot of time at the dog park and going for walks! The most important aspect of pet care for me is communication with owners. I like to have a good idea of what is best for your pet before I care for them, to make sure that the experience is best for everyone.

About: Have taken care of dogs and cats my whole life! Never had a year without living with dogs, cats, and the many other lovely creatures I have as pets. I’m all about getting outside with animals and having fun! I’m currently a F+B manager working nights and have Sunday and Mondays off. Every morning, 6am -12pm, open for any adventure and/or pet care. Love taking care of senior dogs and running with high energy pups. I have no fence around my yard and keep all dogs on a leash or tether when outside and always accompanied when outside. I live right on the Animas River and love to walk my pets down. I have a 3 year old female dog Daisy and a 1 year old black male cat named Felix. Both are friendly and love making new friends! Will always take care of a clients pet and home like it’s my own.

About: I grew up with dogs of my own and have dog-sat for several friends and employers. I find dog-walking very meditative, and the personality of dogs can really come alive outdoors. I’m very attentive to energy levels, food/water intake, and of course, play time! I’m currently working part-time during the week but have my mornings and evenings open, as well as most weekends. I’m happy to chat more about what your pet care needs look like! Having my own cat, I always cat-proof my home to ensure that my cat is safe whether I am home or not. Before leaving the house, I always ensure my cat has enough food and fresh water. I would not only do this at your home, but I would also leave it better than I found it, treating your home as your sacred space that deserves respect, privacy, and cleanliness.

“We full time live in our RV with our dogs, a 15yr old partially blind and deaf dog and our spunky 9yr old poodle mix. We were visiting the area and had a long day planned at the last minute and needed someone to walk our 2 dogs throughout the day. River reached out to me and wanted to make sure our dogs would be OK with a stranger just coming in to take them out (since we didn't have time for a meet and greet). I'm just so used to our dogs being friendly with everyone I, didn't think anything about it. Communication between River was great, we worked out all the details, he made sure to keep us up to date on the girls and how they did! His concern for our aging dog was greatly appreciated! Our dog didn't want to go down the stairs and with her age he wanted to make sure she was OK with being picked up to take out. If you are looking for someone who is great with your dogs, great Communication and caring about the treatment of your pets, I would ask River to watch them again!”

About: I grew up with all kinds of animals (dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, and a few unexpected ones in between), so caring for pets has always been second nature. I adopted my dog over 10 years ago while living in Colombia, and he's been with me ever since. Over the years, I've gotten comfortable with all sorts of care, including giving medications and supporting him as he gets older. I have experience with dog-walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting, and I know how important it is to find someone you trust with your pet. I'll treat yours like one of my own... with patience, care, and lots of attention! Caring for my own dog is already part of my daily routine... walks, exercise, and making sure he's well cared for and mentally stimulated. I work locally and have a consistent schedule, which allows me to plan ahead and make time for drop-ins or walks as needed. Every animal has their own personality and quirks, and their humans have their own expectations of care. I'm here to listen and adjust to both, whether your dogs needs an active walk to burn off energy or a calm visit with more snuggles than steps. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, cared for, and comfortable in their own environment.

About: I’ve had pets since I was born, and have also fostered puppies since a young age. i’ve always grown up with cats and dogs around, which makes me a good candidate for taking care of your pet. i have always had the responsibility of caring for pets young and old, so i know each pet may have unique needs. i have petsat for multiple friends over the years, and i make sure to always communicate with the owners and cater to each pet’s needs. i am working mainly nights, so will be around all day to drop by and take your pets out and spend time with them! i am very flexible right now, really just let me know what you need and i can make it work! i understand that different pets require different things. therefore, i like to follow the owners directions very carefully in order not to distress the animal while their family is gone. i can give multiple walks a day, administer medicine, feed at certain times, and spend time with all pets. please let me know what your routine is like!

About: I have always had at least 1 dog in my home and cared for many of my neighbor’s/friend’s/family member’s pets. In the course of that care I have administered medication, raised puppies, taken care of up to 5 dogs at one time, cared for elderly pets, helped pets with disabilities, and overall taken care of all the extra work that comes with being a pet caregiver. I have yet to meet a pet that I didn’t prefer over most humans. I have been my children’s stay-at-home parent for the last 9 years, so I have a great deal of experience as a caretaker in general and I have raised them to always be kind and respectful to all animals. *My kids do not need to come in contact with your pets if desired/required/needed and would never be left alone with your pets for any length of time* Other than odds jobs and side work, this will be my primary job. The only times I’m not available is during pick-ups and drop-offs for school and after-school activities. I have a fenced yard with 2 friendly dogs and 2 kids(8&9 years old who will not come in contact without your expressed permission and would never be left alone with them), I will care for your pets and house as attentively and lovingly as I care for my own home and pets. I am a home owner with two kids in a local school, so I am deeply rooted in Durango. I care deeply for pets and prefer their company over the company of most people. I am working on getting certified in pet first aid, but I currently have an app that can be used as a quick guide with videos in an emergency that was put out by the Red Cross.

About: I’ve worked with animals my entire life! I’ve cared for horses and other pets with varying levels of medical and dietary needs and I’m comfortable with any type of pet and can stay on top of any unique medical needs they may have while giving them companionship! Since the age of 6 I’ve cared for a horse with very specific and high maintenance needs and I’ve even worked as a wrangler and caretaker in Yellowstone where I cared for over 30 horses at a time. I’m great at basic in home vet care and medication distribution if that is necessary! I’m very detail oriented and great at sticking to whatever specific schedule may be needed! I’m currently working a very flexible schedule and am available for drop ins, house visits, and any type of care you may need! I currently have a very flexible schedule and I am able to come for visits, provide outings, bring your pet to my house or come to your home. My home is directly on a trail head so I am able to provide fun outings for your pet if they are staying with me. I am a runner so if you like your dog to run I can take them running. I also enjoy walks and will meet your dog with whatever their needs may be.
