“Isa housesat our large dog over a weekend. She kept in touch with us via text and photos throughout her stay, and clearly took great care of our pup. She was punctual, responsible, and neat. I appreciated her proactive communication with me, and how responsive she was when I checked in. Would love to use her again!”

About: As a current parent to 2 cats and prior dog/fish mom, I have a lifetime of experience caring for critters of all shapes and sizes! My main job is being a Psychology PhD student and teacher at GMU (you can google my name!). I’ve worked with animal behaviorists and can handle a rowdy big floof, scaly friend, or tiny pooch! Senior care is a passion of mine, both in the animal and human domains. I am strongly against aggressive handling techniques and believe in a care first approach, focusing on your pets unique needs and personality. Im a PhD student at Mason during the day, so Im mostly available in the afternoons and evenings (past 3 pm). Im available for overnight stays, but will need to return during the day to get to school. I follow a gentle, care-first approach, following your pets needs based on their personality and your experience. I ensure that all needs are cared for holistically, and as a current psychology student I have plenty of experience ensuring your pet feels comfortable, safe, and happy. I am always available to reach by phone during care, and will provide twice-daily (minimum! you will likely be spammed with pics haha) updates on wellness.

“Michelle was really great. She was prompt and clear when communicating with me. She sent pictures and updates through out each day. Most importantly she was understanding and patient with ME as I explain in detail a lot of what my dogs need. I have a 13 yo and a 13 month old, both labs and each comes with some very specific handling needs especially around feeding and walking and Michelle was open to letting me communicate these needs. Her care and attention to the dogs' needs helped me relax on our vacation. I will definitely be asking her again to stay with the dogs. Thanks Michelle”

“Gabriella took care of my golden doodle for a long July 4 holiday weekend from Thursday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. She did a fantastic job! I received updates and pictures once or twice a day, which completely put my mind at ease while I was away. She administered medicine to help my furbaby’s anxiety from fireworks as requested and made sure my baby was calm and safe through the fireworks. It’s always tough leaving your pet over a busy holiday, but Gabriella was incredibly reliable, communicative, and attentive. I highly recommend her. She will not disappoint.”

“Winnie is such a sweet person and loved my dogs. I will use her again and because I am going to be selfish and not want her to be to busy to watch my dogs.... she is wonderful.”

“McKenna did an excellent job with our high-energy Aussie, who can be a bit anxious sometimes. She was super communicative, punctual, and shared lots of photos and updates. This was the first time we left him overnight with someone other than family, and it was great to know he was in good hands with McKenna. She also left our house as clean, if not cleaner, than it was before. Excited to work with her again soon!”

“Allegra constantly exceeds expectations and alleviates any anxieties I have about leaving my dogs for several days at a time. She is responsive and great with the dogs and house. I'll never book another dog sitter if Allegra is available!”

“This was my first time having someone from Rover do a house stay, and I'm so glad that Tamara did it! She took great care of Hailey and kept me up to date on everything going on. Tamara took great pictures as well. I'd ask her to sit Hailey again.”

“Seth did a fantastic job house sitting and taking care of my 11 month old Golden. He was punctual, responsive, caring and knowledgeable. Maverick was in very capable hands which gave me peace of mind and the opportunity to really enjoy my time away. Highly recommend. I would give him more than 6 out of 5 stars!”

“Layla was in great hands with Livia! She sent us photos throughout and took Layla on plenty of walks. We came home to a happy, well-looked-after pup and a house left in perfect condition—exactly as we’d left it. Livia is trustworthy, kind, conscientious, and clearly loves animals. Highly recommend!”

“Elizabeth was absolutely fantastic. She communicated regularly and sent pictures often. She also went above and beyond cleaning up which was a nice surprise after a week of business travel. I would highly recommend her and will be reaching out again.”

“Stephanie was wonderful with Wiley. Wiley was living the good life with lots of walks and attention while we were away. Thank you, Stephanie, for taking such good care of our pup and our home.”

“We had a wonderful first experience with Anna and Hieu. They stayed in my home for a week to watch my Chihuahua mix baby and Chihuahua grandbaby. I knew my grand-dog would be okay, but my dog is such a mama’s boy that I was nervous about leaving him. As expected, he was very sad the first day or two but Anna and Hieu made sure he had plenty of love and attention to help him feel better. They were wonderful about keeping me updated with photos and a daily activity summary which I greatly appreciated. I could tell from the photos and information that my baby was adjusting and felt very comfortable with these two sitters. As a nervous first time Rover user, I left a ridiculous number of instructions on both the dogs and the house, and the ladies happily received them and didn’t make me feel like a crazy dog mom haha. I felt totally at ease about having them in my home; they left the home clean and were very respectful of the property. I am so grateful to these sitters for the excellent care they gave my dogs, and I will happily book them again when needed. They are both so sweet, very responsible, and fabulous with the pups!”

About: I’ve been caring for animals since I was 10 years old and have experience with dogs, cats, and many other types of pets. I’m a trusted dog and cat sitter in my neighborhood, and many of my clients come through referrals. I treat every pet like they’re my own and always strive to provide safe, reliable, and loving care. Zena was absolutely wonderful! We had to find a new house sitter and dog walker at the last minute after our original sitter canceled just a few days before our trip, and we couldn't have been happier that we found her. She took such great care of our dog and kept us updated throughout the week with frequent texts and lots of pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that she genuinely cared about him and made sure he was happy and well cared for. When we returned home, the house was spotless. Honestly, you would never have known someone had been staying there. We are so grateful for everything she did and wouldn't hesitate to book Zena again. Highly recommend!

This is my third trip booking Misa for house-sitting this year and, as always, she was great! She sent photos and notes of my pup, left the house in great condition, and best of all, I know that I don't need to worry about my pet when I'm on travel because she's in the bestest hands! Highly recommend Misa for watching your pups or kitties!

Charlotte has been absolutely wonderful with our dog! She walks our dog weekly and has also stayed in our home while we were away, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she provides. Thank you for everything, Charlotte—we’re so grateful and highly recommend you to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter or dog walker!
Anna did a wonderful job looking after our slightly neurotic Bernedoodle and newly adopted cat for several weeks. She sent us lots of picture updates and managed to get our picky dog to eat without issue. She left the house just as clean if not cleaner than when she came. I would definitely recommend her for your pet sitting needs!

Lauren was an excellent house sitter! She sent us fun updates of Luke and Buttercup every day! Her compassion and dedication to our dogs made us feel as we left our fur babies with family! We would highly recommend her for any future dog families that need a fun and caring dog walker!

Batel stayed with our 2 year old American Bully for a week while we were away on vacation and she was great!! We were apprehensive about using Rover just because of some stories we have heard in the past, but Batel was very responsible and trustworthy and put us at ease while we were gone. She was super responsive and good at communicating, sent updates and pictures daily, and even stayed an extra day when we decided to stay at the beach longer. We would definitely recommend Batel and will be booking with her in the future again!

Josie was great, it had been a while since our dogs spent time with her, but they immediately remembered her and warmed up to her, Josie is very responsible and took great care of our dogs and our home while we were gone. Looking forward to having her dog sit again in the near future.
Dionisia was very attentive to my pup's (Charlie) needs, even when she had an unexpected responsibility elsewhere. Charlie who is quite timid, took to her rather fast, which is saying a lot. Unfortunately, Charlie developed a stomach issue which required to be let out several times throughout the night. Dionisia was a champ, taking care of her! I would not hesitate to utilize Dionisia for future visits.

Nikki and Johnny really hit it off during their meet and greet. He as so excited and happy to see Nikki when she arrived to stay with him. He went right out and wanted to play ball with her and he seemed very happy to be with her. We got great pictures and information from Nikki while we were gone. Everything went very well.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Donovans Corner walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Donovans Corner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Donovans Corner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
