“I was really pleased with Ty and Charlie. Their setup worked extremely well for our very Velcro-needy guy. I was initially a little hesitant about having two people watching him, simply because we’d never had a couple before, but if you’re on the fence like I was, don’t pass them up — it worked perfectly for us. They arrived on time for both the meet-and-greet and the sitting job, and they checked in to confirm the times I had listed before coming and when they were scheduled to leave. Our guy is very routine-oriented, and they followed my detailed instructions (yes, I’m that parent!) to a tee — including giving his meds on time, which was huge for us since some past sitters have struggled with that. I truly couldn’t have asked for better sitters; they’re probably my favorite so far. I’ll absolutely continue to use them and am already working to see if they’re available to sit for us again. I would definitely recommend them to others. Thank you both so much for taking such great care of him!”

“Melissa is a wonderful sitter and did an excellent job with our pup. She’s very attentive, communicative, and professional, and she went above and beyond. We would absolutely recommend Melissa to anyone, and we’d love to have her care for our dog again!”

“Grant and Yunrui took great care of our dog, Ellie, for a full week at our house. We appreciated that they did a meet and greet ahead of time so we could make sure it was a good fit. They sent pictures and an update every night and Ellie seemed very happy when we got back. Thank you!”

“I would give Deborah 10 stars if I could! From our initial meet & greet, I knew she would treat both our senior pup and our home with love and care. I loved the daily updates and pictures that were sent, along with any additional communication about our pup or home that needed clarification. Our home was left spotless and just the way it was when we left. Our pup was cared for with love. I couldn't be happier with Deborah's stay here and I will look forward to having her over again for our future travels.”

“Clara was a joy to have in my home. She clearly loves animals and was always very prompt and communicated very clearly, sent me sweet pictures of my loveable, albeit large, german shepherd. She is great and would highly recommend her!”

“Andrea took such amazing care of our elderly dog. Our dog gets anxious, and needed to remain in our home while we were away, to lessen her stress levels. Andrea provided such quality care. Not only did she sent me frequent updates, she reassured me that our dog was doing really well. And she was! We’re truly thankful for Andrea’s wonderful care, and will definitely be booking with her again.”

If you have any special requirements, safety concerns, or additional accommodations, then I am always happy to work with pets and their owners for the best possible situation.
“Cathy was amazing with our Fair Lady Belle. Cathy had a sweet manner when dealing our three year old Bolo and spent lots of walking and playing time. When Cathy left Belle sat in her window and cried. That was all we needed to see. It was obvious that they had formed a bond. Thank you Cathy for taking such good care of our “baby”. We wil be excited for your next visit and Belle agrees.”

“Angelica did a fabulous job watching my Aussidoddle and my Sheltie. Would highly recommend her for house sitting She watched my babies for a week while we were on vacation and sent us a bunch of pictures.”

“Sharon did a wonderful job taking care of our two pups. One we had some health concerns about right before we left town. Sharon provided updates about how she was doing so that I was able to have an informed conversation with the Vet. Both pups seemed happy and well taken care of when we got home. I really appreciated all of Sharon’s communication.”

“Shaun did an amazing job! He followed all of our directions, kept us updated, and took great care of Lex while we were away. Lex was very happy, comfortable, and clearly well cared for when we got home. We really appreciated the attention and care he gave our dog and home. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter!”

“Michael was AWESOME! Because of some behavior issues with our dogs, boarding them wasn't an option. This was our first vacation since COVID so our dogs had never been left alone. As you can imagine, we were nervous to find someone whom we trusted with our precious dogs. We had no reason to worry. Michael took the time to meet with us and our dogs before our trip. We reviewed routines and familiarized him to our home. During our vacation he kept in contact with us by messaging questions and updates with pictures. He was even able to get our dogs to let him put on their harnesses and go for walks (previously they only let us do that). Needless to say we felt very at ease knowing Michael was caring for them. We will definitely be using Michael again in the future.”

“I highly recommend Katherine! This was our first time using her services, and she definitely met our expectations. She was extremely communicative, followed our specific care instructions to the letter, and took wonderful care of our cat and dog. In her home visit beforehand, she asked specific questions that showed she was listening and cared about corrective care. When we returned, not only were our animals happy to see us, but they seemed completely at ease - as if we’d never left. The house was just as we left it, and she even took care of thoughtful little details, like refilling the water pitcher we use for their bowls. You really can’t ask for more when trusting someone with your pets.”

“Meghan was an awesome sitter! She took such great care of our dog, cat, and house! She left the house spotless and communicated with us throughout our trip. Would highly recommend her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lake Ridge
Hannah managed to coax our three shy cats out of their hiding places and eventually even got kisses from the boy cat. She kept us informed of her progress along the way to feline acceptance with emails, photos and new toys from them. As a house sitter, Hannah dealt with Verizon FiOS when our wifi went down by troubleshooting and meeting with the technician who was able to fix the problem. And she left the house cleaner than we left it! We (both humans and felines) look forward to calling on Hannah for our next vacation.

Andrea was amazing with my two German shepherds and cat! She took my younger pup on long walks with her dog every day and they had a great time hanging out. She handled their care expertly and I am so grateful! My cat has asthma and she also did a great job administering her medication as needed. Andrea is kind, professional, and trustworthy and I will absolutely book with her again!! Thanks again, Andrea!

Natalie took great care of our dog while we were away. I had some concerns leaving our dog with a stranger for the first time because he can be protective of his home. Natalie made the time to come meet our pup at a neutral spot and then headed to the home so he could get use to her in his environment. The meet and greet went well and our dog was excited to see her when she came to stay overnight. Natalie was very quick when returning my texts and calls. She took great care of our pup while we were away and we will use her again in the future.

Brigette was excellent watching our dog and 3 cats. She stayed with them and they were very happy. She was very responsive before and during the visit and she provided us regular updates on the pets. I would highly recommend Brigette for house and pet sitting anytime.
Excellent dog and house sitter. Pets were calm and well cared for while we were away. Erin communicated with us several times a day and kept us updated on their daily activities. She has a great deal of experience working with pets and catered to their individual needs.

Tiana is the ultimate professional. I almost had to cancel the booking due to unforeseen circumstances. She handled it with understanding, grace, and patience. I’m glad I was able to make alternate plans and keep my booking with her. She was early to everything related to the booking which shows how serious she takes her job. I made a short notice decision to come home early and Tiana responded and adjusted well to that also. She made sure the puppies were taken care of and everything in the house was in order so I can just go straight to bed.

Kelly watched our older dog and cat while we were gone for a week. We came home to two happy and healthy fur balls! As always, Kelly was super communicative the entire time and sent a ton of adorable pictures of them. They love her! Highly recommend booking with her, she leaves you with some happy fur babies! The house was exactly as we left it, she is also extremely respectful of your home and property. She is our go to Rover!

Everything seemed pretty okay overall, but there were several issues I wanted to mention. I had asked Sarah to bring her own toiletries, including a towel and washcloth, but she ended up using mine instead. I also noticed that the dogs did not eat their dinner, and I’m not sure what time they were fed or whether their normal feeding schedule was followed. I specifically asked that their food be served in the ceramic bowl, but it was put in the wrong bowl. Aston also had an accident and peed in the bed. I’m unsure when their last potty break was, so I can’t say for certain whether the timing contributed to the accident. I would have appreciated clearer communication about their feeding and potty schedule and closer attention to the care instructions I provided. Following the rules and instructions provided is important to me, especially when it comes to the care and safety of my dogs and home. I also expect personal belongings that do not belong to the sitter to be respected and not used without permission. Most importantly, Sarah left the door open without knowing what time I would arrive. This was a serious safety concern, as anything—or anyone—could have entered my home. Safety is very important to me, and this should not have happened. Overall, the stay was okay, but following instructions, respecting boundaries, communicating clearly, and prioritizing safety would have made the experience much better.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Ridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Ridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Ridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
