“I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for taking such great care of Brandi. She’s definitely spoiled, and her irregular eating habits are just part of her missing us—it’s nothing to do with you. Once again, thank you so much for taking care of Brandi. It truly means a lot to me!”

“Melissa was an absolute dream to work with for my two standard poodles! She stayed at my house while I was away, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. When I came home, the house actually looked better than when I left it — everything was neat, clean, and in perfect order. She sent wonderful photos and updates throughout the trip, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing my pups were happy and well cared for. I came home to happy, relaxed, well-exercised dogs who clearly adored her. This was hands-down the best pet sitting experience I’ve ever had. I will definitely be using Melissa again for future trips! Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“She was great with my 16 year old dog which takes patience and love. My pup sammie seemed so happy when I returned from my trip which filled me with piece of mind. I’ll definitely book in the future.”

“Shaun did an amazing job! He followed all of our directions, kept us updated, and took great care of Lex while we were away. Lex was very happy, comfortable, and clearly well cared for when we got home. We really appreciated the attention and care he gave our dog and home. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter!”

“There’s no one else we trust staying with our newfs! Vanessa is the best - our dogs love her and they’re always so happy. She sends daily updates and we appreciate her so much!”

“Winnie is such a sweet person and loved my dogs. I will use her again and because I am going to be selfish and not want her to be to busy to watch my dogs.... she is wonderful.”

“Deloris did an amazing job house sitting and taking care of Holly! From the start, communication was great, and we felt completely at ease leaving Holly (and our home) in her care. She kept us updated with regular check-ins and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away.”

“Zamiya was absolutely outstanding, very communicative and took wonderful care of my fur baby. I will definitely book with her again!!! I never had to wonder how my baby was doing because she kept me updated with pics and videos which I loved because I didn't have to reach out to see how he was doing. I already knew!!”

“Deborah took such great care of my babies. She sent an update and photos every morning and throughout each day. She was always available if I needed to reach her, and I know that my dog and my car were in the best possible hands. I am so glad that we found her!!”

“Cathy was amazing with our Fair Lady Belle. Cathy had a sweet manner when dealing our three year old Bolo and spent lots of walking and playing time. When Cathy left Belle sat in her window and cried. That was all we needed to see. It was obvious that they had formed a bond. Thank you Cathy for taking such good care of our “baby”. We wil be excited for your next visit and Belle agrees.”

About: I have had pets all my life. I started helping take care of my cat and dogs at around 10 years old. I help out with my friends and extended family members pets as well. My dog takes medication in the morning so I can administer medication if needed. She has also gone through two surgeries so I can help during pet recovery as well. I’ve had hyperactive dogs as well as territorial/ toy-aggressive dogs and know how to deal with them. I have also had dogs who needed extra care due to being old. I do know a little bit about training dogs but not much. I work part time and go to college full time. However, I live at home with my parents so I can fit pet care into my schedule. I have a fenced backyard for my dog to run around or just lay outside. I walk her 2/3 times a day and she gets fed twice a day, morning and evening. I also spend a lot of time with her whether it’s playing around or just watching tv. If I am caring for someone else’s pets, I feed the pets and play with them as well as hang out with them.
“Natalie took great care of our dog while we were away. I had some concerns leaving our dog with a stranger for the first time because he can be protective of his home. Natalie made the time to come meet our pup at a neutral spot and then headed to the home so he could get use to her in his environment. The meet and greet went well and our dog was excited to see her when she came to stay overnight. Natalie was very quick when returning my texts and calls. She took great care of our pup while we were away and we will use her again in the future.”

“Andrea took such amazing care of our elderly dog. Our dog gets anxious, and needed to remain in our home while we were away, to lessen her stress levels. Andrea provided such quality care. Not only did she sent me frequent updates, she reassured me that our dog was doing really well. And she was! We’re truly thankful for Andrea’s wonderful care, and will definitely be booking with her again.”

“We had a wonderful experience with our dog sitter. She was incredibly responsive and communicative throughout our time away, which gave us real peace of mind. We loved receiving daily photos and updates, and it was clear our dogs were well cared for and comfortable. She also left our home clean and tidy, which we really appreciated. We’re very grateful for her care and would happily book with her again.”

“Angelica did a fabulous job watching my Aussidoddle and my Sheltie. Would highly recommend her for house sitting She watched my babies for a week while we were on vacation and sent us a bunch of pictures.”

“John Paul did an absolutely fantastic job taking care of our fur babies and ensuring our house was still standing during our time away. He was very attentive to our pets needs, followed every instruction, and sent us frequent photos of our fur kids to let us know how well everything was going! We cannot wait to ask for his assistance again in the future, and we know our little guys will be super excited to have him back anytime!”

About: 🐾 Hi, I’m Ana! I’m a proud dog mom to a special needs German Shepherd who has idiopathic epilepsy. Because excitement and overstimulation can trigger seizures, he’s kept separate from other dogs for his safety. His condition has taught me the importance of patience, reading canine body language, and providing calm, attentive care! A little about me!😊 I’ve worked with exotic animals for over four years and have experience caring for a wide variety of species, including rabbits, snakes, fish, turtles, dogs and birds. During that time, I’ve bred rabbits and snakes and have cared for them through every stage of life from newborns to healthy adults. I’ve also taken in surrendered animals from owners who could no longer care for them, giving those animals a safe place while helping them get the care they need. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’m truly passionate about providing them with the love, patience, and care they deserve. Whether they’re furry, feathered, or scaled, I treat every animal as if they were my own. ❤️🐾 🏡 A Comfortable, Dog Friendly Home. Your pup will have everything they need during their stay from extra leashes, bowls, food, and treats to lots of room for play and rest. I always make sure each dog feels right at home. 🏠 House Sitting & Drop Ins. I’ll give your pets the same love and attention I give my own feeding, playtime, potty breaks, companionship and enjoyment!! 🦮 Dog walks. I bring my own leash and supplies to keep things simple, clean, and stress free!! 🍲 Homemade Meals with Love. I also enjoy preparing fresh, home cooked dog meals made with real ingredients like chicken, turkey, beef, or fish, plus healthy veggies such as carrots, sweet potato, peas, cucumbers, and pumpkin. Let me know if I can share these delicious warm meals with your pup!! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m home often, so I have plenty of time for walks, play, feeding, and cuddles throughout the day I create a safe, calm, and loving environment by supervising all pets closely, keeping spaces clean and secure, and following each owner’s care instructions to make sure every pet feels comfortable and protected.

Melissa was totally awesome!! She gave us an update every day and sent pictures along with it (some of them were truly hilarious. I was able to communicate our dog Tater’s fear of thunderstorms and that we give him a calming treat to help with the anxiety. Melissa understood this instruction and was able to follow the protocol to a tee. We left Melissa a list of instructions along with point of contact phone numbers and other helpful information. She reviewed these with us during our face-to-face meet and greet and had it under control. Because of an unfortunate incident with a hot pan, Melissa let us know right away and offered to pay for it. The pan was not expensive so it was no big deal; we were more concerned about her and our dogs getting burned. To make it for it, Melissa left us a note and treats (for both us and the dogs) which was a pleasant surprise. In addition, when we arrived home, the dogs were “put behind bars” in the family room and soothing music was playing. This allowed us to enter the house with our luggage and not be attacked. We could tell they missed us but were sad to see Melissa go. Melissa also washed the sheets and towels she used during her stay and the kitchen was spotless. It looked even cleaner than when we left. I would HIGHLY recommend Melissa for her service and if she is available will book again for a February 2027 vacation we have planned.

I was lucky to find Alissa and book in short notice. I have 2 Belgian Malinois and it can be quite difficult to find a sitter to care for this special breed. My dogs immediately gravitated towards her so that was the first good sign. Alisa is trustworthy and responsible. She sent photos and texts with updates which gave me a total peace of mind while I was out for an event. She took excellent care of my babies especially my boy who is currently in chemo. I strongly recommend Alissa to anyone looking for a compassionate, trustworthy, and experienced dog sitter. I will most definitely be using her services again! Thank you, Alissa 💜

William did a great job house sitting for our pup Willie and our family bunny for a week. He was attentive and responsive, periodically sharing updates. He was flexible too. He came back the evening and night after the scheduled services ended due to a mistake on my part. Super appreciative of that.

Shaun did an amazing job! He followed all of our directions, kept us updated, and took great care of Lex while we were away. Lex was very happy, comfortable, and clearly well cared for when we got home. We really appreciated the attention and care he gave our dog and home. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter!

Excellent dog and house sitter. Pets were calm and well cared for while we were away. Erin communicated with us several times a day and kept us updated on their daily activities. She has a great deal of experience working with pets and catered to their individual needs.

Clara was absolutely amazing with our dog, Leo, while we were away for over a week. She took such great care of him, making sure he was happy, comfortable, and well looked after the entire time. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. Clara was reliable, attentive, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. Leo was so comfortable with her, and we could tell he was well cared for when we got back. We’re so grateful for her help and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!
Douglas did a great job caring for our pet! His communication was excellent throughout the stay, and we really appreciated the regular updates and photos—it gave us real peace of mind. Everything went smoothly, and we came home to a happy, well-cared-for pet. We’d absolutely book with Douglas again!

We will always have Xiomara watch our dog and cat as long as she’s available, she is incredible. She sends constant updates, pictures, videos, and my dog LOVES her. So does our cat. She is such a wonderful person and she leaves our place sparkling clean. Having peace of mind about our precious animals makes traveling a thousand times more enjoyable. Thank you so much Xiomara ❤️

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dale City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dale City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dale City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
