“Grant and Yunrui took great care of our dog, Ellie, for a full week at our house. We appreciated that they did a meet and greet ahead of time so we could make sure it was a good fit. They sent pictures and an update every night and Ellie seemed very happy when we got back. Thank you!”

“Eyowyn took excellent care of our critters while we were away. She followed the directions we left, gave our dog his eye medicine, made sure to give them attention, and gave us updates to let us know all was well. I would book Eyowyn again without hesitation to house sit our dog and cat!”

“We had a wonderful experience with our dog sitter. She was incredibly responsive and communicative throughout our time away, which gave us real peace of mind. We’re truly thankful for Andrea’s wonderful care, and will definitely be booking with her again.”

She also left our house as clean, if not cleaner, than it was before. Excited to work with her again soon!”

About: Hi friends! I have been caring for an array of beloved creatures for 7 years and have intermediate experience in dog training. 🫶🏻 From special needs cats and dogs to exotics (especially aquatic), your pet is sure to be safe and sound in my home. I have air-purified rooms, a fenced yard large enough to comfortably run laps in and two spare bedrooms to dedicate to your pet if you wish-- whether a dogs' crate or a cats' private sanctuary. 🐾 Experience includes but not limited to: Enrichment through play, building trust, delivering medications orally and subcutaneous, basic obedience and enclosure maintenance for caged pets. I accept puppies that are not yet crate trained and I will happily crate train them to the best of my ability. 🫶🏻 Other experience: fowl, rodents, rabbits, reptiles and insects. I work from home, so my schedule is extremely flexible. Drop ins, house sitting, boarding and 15 minute walks can be scheduled at nearly any time. ● I provide daily updates and photos on your pet. ● 3+ references are provided upon request. ● Home details: Large fenced yard, Coway air purifiers throughout the house, neutered 36 lb English bulldog and neutered male tabby. Both of them are notoriously chill, and I am more than willing to do a meet and greet prior to boarding. ● I DO NOT smoke or use incense, oils, etc.
“I have never had anyone stay in my home to doggy sit while I was out of town, but my regular drop-off sitters were unavailable. I contacted Hieu and Anna about sitting in my home for my almost 15 year old furkid, Zoe. We did a meet and greet and I was instantly comfortable with both Hieu and Anna. Zoe was her usual standoffish self, but I knew she would be fine. Hieu and Anna showed up on time and took excellent care of Zoe while I was away! They took Zoe on long walks and a couple of car rides. They provided pictures and daily updates of their time with Zoe. It was evident, when I arrived home, that Zoe had been well cared for. They also took excellent care of my home while they were here! The place was cleaner than when I left! I recommend Hieu and Anna 1000%! I will definitely ask them to sit for Zoe in the future!”
“Tara did a great job watching my two collies Bruce and Rusty. She communicated and sent pictures daily. This was their first time with a sitter so I was a little nervous initially, but everything went great. There were no issues throughout the 5 days and they both seemed to really take to her. I highly recommend Tara and would not hesitate to book her again if the need arises.”

“Angelica did a fabulous job watching my Aussidoddle and my Sheltie. Would highly recommend her for house sitting She watched my babies for a week while we were on vacation and sent us a bunch of pictures.”

“Gwendolyn took such good care of our dog while we were on vacation. It was our first time traveling without our dog, Fiona, and Gwendolyn put us at ease with her excellent communication. Highly recommend!”

“Cathy was amazing with our Fair Lady Belle. Cathy had a sweet manner when dealing our three year old Bolo and spent lots of walking and playing time. When Cathy left Belle sat in her window and cried. That was all we needed to see. It was obvious that they had formed a bond. Thank you Cathy for taking such good care of our “baby”. We wil be excited for your next visit and Belle agrees.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Colchester
We have two very anxious pups, and against all odds ZaNai won them both over. She was patient, knowledgable, and clearly experienced. She kept us informed and even FaceTimed us daily so we could see the dogs. She took great care of our house, leaving it clean and even ready for us to come home with fresh linens on the beds and freshly baked brownies on the counter! We are so grateful for ZaNai and would 100% recommend her to anybody looking for an in-home dog sitter!

Excellent dog and house sitter. Pets were calm and well cared for while we were away. Erin communicated with us several times a day and kept us updated on their daily activities. She has a great deal of experience working with pets and catered to their individual needs.

Eyowyn was great! She sent multiple photo updates and took great care of Dixie. She was responsive and made sure to take the time to do a meet in greet giving me piece of mind and letting Dixie get comfortable with her. The house was left clean and as if she hadn’t been here. She’s the best!

Tiana is the ultimate professional. I almost had to cancel the booking due to unforeseen circumstances. She handled it with understanding, grace, and patience. I’m glad I was able to make alternate plans and keep my booking with her. She was early to everything related to the booking which shows how serious she takes her job. I made a short notice decision to come home early and Tiana responded and adjusted well to that also. She made sure the puppies were taken care of and everything in the house was in order so I can just go straight to bed.

Telma took care of my sweet Hank and treated him as if he was her own. She provided updates and photos and even put hit sweatshirt on him when it was cold out. He had a blast on his walks and she was very quick to Respond and provide updates on Hank. She did a great job and I would strongly recommend her to family and friends. Thank you, Telma!

I had a great experience with Maya as a sitter for my puppy Nela. She showed up on time, was reliable, and communicated clearly throughout the day. She followed all feeding instructions exactly and went above and beyond by giving Nela plenty of playtime and sending me updates. Highly recommend!

Kelly watched our older dog and cat while we were gone for a week. We came home to two happy and healthy fur balls! As always, Kelly was super communicative the entire time and sent a ton of adorable pictures of them. They love her! Highly recommend booking with her, she leaves you with some happy fur babies! The house was exactly as we left it, she is also extremely respectful of your home and property. She is our go to Rover!

Katherine was great with Zelda, they had a lot of fun. She took very good care of my house, even changed a battery in my smoke detector that was starting to beep. The house was immaculate when I got home, and Zelda was really happy. The communication was really good and I plan to use her again soon!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Colchester on Rover is $46.07 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 9,599 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Colchester. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Colchester walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Colchester maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Colchester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
