“Vanessa was a great sitter for our 3 cats. She showed up on time and made sure the cats were fed and the litter was clean. We received daily pictures and updates. She also communicated well whenever there was a question. I will book her again for future trips.”

“Nothing but great things to say! Stefanie was super accommodating and flexible with my schedule especially when I had to modify the dates a couple times. My dogs can be a little much but she took great care of them and I am sure they already miss her. I will definitely be using her services for the future. 10/10 - would recommend!!”

“Taylor is awesome! She walked our dog Carson daily for a couple months and she was an absolute lifesaver. Her flexibility and reliability was greatly appreciated. Carson is not the easiest dog to walk and she did a great job. We would highly recommend her!!!”

About: I have been pet and house sitting since 2022. So far I have been pet sitting for friends and their friends, but I wanted to extend my services to the lovely people in my area. I grew up with a big dog as our family pet. Though he is no longer with us he was the perfect sassy addition to our family. Since I have started pet sitting I have had 4-legged clients of ALL sizes, we are talking teacup pup to 100+ lbs. I also have experience with all ages ranging from ~6months to senior and I understand their different needs and energy levels. I love to run and walk especially when a doggy friend tags along. I am by no means a professional trainer but I understand dog’s need for clear commands and exercise I am an engineering student at GMU and my schedule can be a little funky compared to a typical 9-5. Please reach out to check my specific daily and long term availability! I take very great care for the safety of the animals that I watch over. I take special care when unleashing dogs to make sure that we are in a secure location (ex. Closed garage/door or fence). While on walks, even with friendly dogs, I try to stay away from others to prevent any potential incidents from happening. I also have experience with giving animals oral medication. I take close care to keep the medications on schedule and triple check that the medication was taken and not spit out (they can be sneaky sometimes).
“Finding Melissa and having her help care for and pamper Sky during these days has been a true blessing. Both my cat Sky and my family clicked with her immediately. Melissa is incredibly loving and empathetic, as well as helpful and proactive. She kept us posted on everything. We are so grateful for her excellent support. The fact that she is bilingual adds even more value to her work. Thank you so much, Melissa! 🙏🏼”

“Caila watched my 6 month lab puppy during her spring semester and did a great job. She was always communicative and took the time to build a connection with my pup and was always patient.”

About: Hi nice to meet you. My name is Lohan I am a Belgian American now living in the US. I am new to life in US after living abroad since young, but I am trying to implement myself with the community and help anyone in any way possible. Please feel free to contact me and ask me questions, I am here to help. That being said, with animals I have had cats since I was 8, currently have 2. I also took care of many rabbits. I had a pet ball python named whiskey. And I love dogs, never owned one but take care of family and friends dogs. I would say I am a patient person and always willing to give 100% with your pets. If you dogs is energetic I can match that energy, if you dogs or cats are quiet I can be gentle as well. I am currently waiting for the next academic year to start, therefore I have a lot of free time on my hands. I am free most days at anytime just preferably not late night. I always keep check of my outside doors to be properly closed. I always make sure I have seen all pets before I exit the house. And make sure no pets are left accidentally in rooms.

“Samantha was awesome! From the meet and greet to the drop-ins on my dog, she was great all around! Samantha sent me updates and lots of pictures, and I came home to a very happy pup. Highly recommend!”

“Very communicative and helpful. I have two skittish cats and she managed to befriend them - that alone deserves 5 stars! Haha Did a great job, would totally recommend if you need someone to take care of your fur babies.”

“Brenda was fantastic! Not only did she take great care of our cat, make sure litter box was clean and she was well fed, but sent pics and even helped bring in packages and a huge dresser that was delivered when we were gone. Highly recommend Brenda!”

About: I have had pets all my life. I started helping take care of my cat and dogs at around 10 years old. I help out with my friends and extended family members pets as well. My dog takes medication in the morning so I can administer medication if needed. She has also gone through two surgeries so I can help during pet recovery as well. I’ve had hyperactive dogs as well as territorial/ toy-aggressive dogs and know how to deal with them. I have also had dogs who needed extra care due to being old. I do know a little bit about training dogs but not much. I work part time and go to college full time. However, I live at home with my parents so I can fit pet care into my schedule. I have a fenced backyard for my dog to run around or just lay outside. I walk her 2/3 times a day and she gets fed twice a day, morning and evening. I also spend a lot of time with her whether it’s playing around or just watching tv. If I am caring for someone else’s pets, I feed the pets and play with them as well as hang out with them.
“They were amazing!! Our cats were well cared for, and we received several photos and videos of our cats :) We would heavily recommend that you go with Amanda for all your pet sitting needs!!”

“Alyssa is so very sweet and gentle with our furbabies. She’s lovely, uber-reliable (no reminders needed), and absolutely trustworthy! We appreciated communication with feedback about her visits and photos to see that our dogs were OK!”

“Anna has been great with my 3 month old puppy! She has been very flexible with my hours since they change a lot and has given me a great peace of mind every day I have her stop by.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Dale City
Ashley was great! Both cats seemed to really like her, in fact I think they were waiting by the door yesterday afternoon for her to visit! She also noted that she had poor cell service while visiting the cats in my home, which was a good note to make sure she has the wi-fi information next time!

Once again Paige was excellent! So genuinely concerned for my babies as though they are her own. The updates she gives are so far above and beyond. All the photos make me so happy to see while I am away. She is detailed and thorough! I am so thankful she has cared for my babies. They love her!!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
