“Isa stepped up on short notice. She did a phenomenal job with our furry kids. She communicated often, and was extremely flexible when we came back on short notice. She showed up on time. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for pet care needs. She’s very responsible.”

“Layla was in great hands with Livia! She sent us photos throughout and took Layla on plenty of walks. We came home to a happy, well-looked-after pup and a house left in perfect condition—exactly as we’d left it. Livia is trustworthy, kind, conscientious, and clearly loves animals. Highly recommend!”

“Davis was great: took great care of our dogs and our home, which includes chicken coop, koi pond and garden!. Very responsive, keeps in touch, trustworthy and loya. Will hire him again when when needed”

“Amazing communication and very accommodating ! Very kind and loving to my baby, Mocha. Shared lots of pics and videos and I could enjoy my time away knowing she was in great hands! Thank you so much !”

““Gabriela did a fantastic job taking care of our 12-year-old Shih Tzu, Daisy! She is very kind, loving and detail oriented-just what we needed when leaving our senior fur baby! We loved the photos she sent—they really put our minds at ease. When we returned, the house was impeccable and Daisy was a happy camper! Gabriela is a wonderful sitter, and we will definitely hire her again!”

“Matthew was amazing in providing updates on the dogs. He definitely spoiled both dogs and handled them with love and care. Additionally, he left the house tidy and clean even washing the sheets and blankets that were used. Definitely a great sitter that I would use again!”

“This is the first time I’ve felt comfortable leaving any of my dogs with someone else. It was obvious when I came home from my trip that my dog was well cared for. She was happy and extremely well adjusted. Also. Seth left the house spotless.”

“Kyle did an amazing job taking care of my two big dogs after a last minute request for a weekend stay. My dogs warmed up to him immediately and he was very attentive to their needs. Kyle has also done additional drop in visits, providing updates and photos. I have already booked him for future housesitting and we will continue to book him as our trusted sitter.”

“I highly recommend John and I am so glad I decided to leave my pets in his care while I was away. For my elderly dog, kennel isn’t an option anymore. She was able to stay home while being cared for, fed and loved. I received daily updates and pictures. John was caring, meticulous and very communicative. I will absolutely use his services again next time I’m out of town. Thank you!”

“This was my first time having someone from Rover do a house stay, and I'm so glad that Tamara did it! She took great care of Hailey and kept me up to date on everything going on. Tamara took great pictures as well. I'd ask her to sit Hailey again.”

About: I have owned dogs my entire life and am lucky to still be caring for my childhood dog (17 years old!). Because of this experience, I know some dogs require a routine schedule to make sure they continue to be happy and healthy. Every dog has a one of a kind personality and I love getting to know each dogs quirks and little joys! I will be working close to a 9-5 schedule around 4 days a week. I will be able to give potty breaks or walks before and/or after my work during the work week but I am much more flexible Friday-Sunday. I live in an apartment so I unfortunately cannot offer dog sitting at my place at this time. Because I live in an apartment, I make sure to give my dog morning and evening walks and can make sure your dog gets the same treatment!
“Great sitter! Jessica provided updates and pictures during the stay and maintained constant communication. I am always hesitant when I have to book a new sitter, but glad I found her! I have 3 dogs with weird quirks (one food aggressive, another anxious, and the last very hyper and annoying lol) so it can be difficult to find care, but Jessica took them on with ease. Would absolutely book again and recommend for services.”

About: Growing up, I always begged for a pet every chance I got. I have so much love, appreciation, and passion for not only pets but for animals as a whole, and this hasn't changed since I was a kid. In my free time I enjoy playing with my pets and watching animal documentaries. In terms of experience, I am PetTech certified, I am working with a local pet sitting business for over a year now, where I do drop-in visits for dogs and cats, as well as walks and house sitting too! I also previously volunteered with a local animal shelter where I worked with mainly cats and kittens, and dogs on occasion. As a volunteer, my responsibilities mostly included transport, playing with the shelter animals, weighing, and checking in/watching. I currently have 2 cats, 1 male and 1 female, that I got as kittens. I have had these cats for about 2 years. In the past, I had a dog for 3 years. My responsibilities with these pets include/included feeding, bathing, playing, walking, cleaning up after, etc. I am not currently working and have reliable transportation. I have a flexible schedule and lots of time to take care of and spend time with your furry friends! I have experience pet sitting in clients' homes before. I am detail oriented and follow the directions left by clients well! I clean up after not only myself but also your furry friends and leave the home as I found it!
“Renee took fantastic care of my dog while I was away and clearly loved on him totally! She sent great videos of their walking adventures and him playing. The house was in terrific condition when I got home. I look forward to booking with Renee again when I travel. I trust her to keep my fur child safe and happy. Thanks Renee!”

“Allegra constantly exceeds expectations and alleviates any anxieties I have about leaving my dogs for several days at a time. She is responsive and great with the dogs and house. I'll never book another dog sitter if Allegra is available!”

“This was our first of two sittings with Tara and we couldn’t be more pleased with the attention and care given to our pup and our home. She is so communicative, offering updates as frequently as desired and was proactive in learning and doing everything she could to ensure our pup was happy and comfortable with her. We have a Velcro pup so we do worry about his anxiety while we are away but Tara put our minds at ease.”

Livia was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Gotti. He is a blind, special-needs senior who requires extra care, including medication and being carried from place to place. Livia handled all of his needs with extraordinary kindness, patience, and attention. Throughout our trip, she provided thoughtful updates, great feedback, and plenty of pictures, which gave my wife and me complete peace of mind. We were able to relax and truly enjoy our time away knowing that our little guy was safe, comfortable, and receiving exceptional care. We could not recommend Livia more highly and will absolutely book her again for our future pet-sitting needs. Thank you, Livia, for taking such wonderful care of Gotti!

Harper was so good with our two dogs! Wouldn't hesitate to use her again. Great, clear, quick communication which makes everything less stressful. She was adaptable to our changing schedule. Sent us pictures and most importantly the dogs seemed calm and unstressed.

Our first pet sitter, also hired through Rover, had a medical emergency. With the help of Rover Customer Support, we chose a new sitter halfway through our trip. Rydia stepped up and handled things beautifully. Our minds were immediately at ease, despite Rydia's never having been in our home or having met our pets prior. She was at the house within half an hour of our first phone contact, and our pets and home were clearly in very good hands. Thank you, Rydia, for coming in clutch and saving the day!

I highly recommend John and I am so glad I decided to leave my pets in his care while I was away. For my elderly dog, kennel isn’t an option anymore. She was able to stay home while being cared for, fed and loved. I received daily updates and pictures. John was caring, meticulous and very communicative. Isa took good care of our two miniature schnauzers. We didn't have to worry and were able to enjoy our son's wedding. Isa sent us a few messages to update us on how the girls were doing along with pictures. If we need a dog sitter again, I would definitely try to get Isa. Thank you!

Dounia was great with my dog while I was gone for a week. My dog was initially wary and Dounia gave her time to get used to her. Within a few days they were buddies and snuggling. Dounia sent me many updates on her arrivals and walks and when she was leaving the house. She washed all the linens before leaving. I would use her again

Zena was absolutely wonderful! We had to find a new house sitter and dog walker at the last minute after our original sitter canceled just a few days before our trip, and we couldn't have been happier that we found her. She took such great care of our dog and kept us updated throughout the week with frequent texts and lots of pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that she genuinely cared about him and made sure he was happy and well cared for. When we returned home, the house was spotless. Honestly, you would never have known someone had been staying there. We are so grateful for everything she did and wouldn't hesitate to book Zena again. Highly recommend!

This is my third trip booking Misa for house-sitting this year and, as always, she was great! She sent photos and notes of my pup, left the house in great condition, and best of all, I know that I don't need to worry about my pet when I'm on travel because she's in the bestest hands! Highly recommend Misa for watching your pups or kitties!

Charlotte has been absolutely wonderful with our dog! She walks our dog weekly and has also stayed in our home while we were away, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she provides. Thank you for everything, Charlotte—we’re so grateful and highly recommend you to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter or dog walker!
David dog sat our two dogs who can be a handful. It was the first time we'd left them for over a week. David kept us up to date with pictures and notes of what was going on at home so we could enjoy our trip. When we returned the dogs were happy to see us; they showed no signs of being stressed/anxious/needy from their time with David. We won't hesitate to call on David again when we need someone to care for our dogs.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Burke walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Burke maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Burke choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
