“My dog, Chloe, felt right at home with Kelley. Kelley was very communicative and sent fun pictures and videos of my happy dog :) She also followed instructions and was very responsible. I definitely recommend hiring her to take care of your furry friend!”

“We hired Lisa for a last-minute trip to visit family, and she was a fantastic housesitter. From the start, she put us at ease and we felt confident our two cats would be well cared for. She was super communicative, sent frequent photo updates, and was flexible with our changing plans. When it looked like our dog care might fall through, she was even willing to step in and help with her too. Lisa went above and beyond - she assured us she’d check in on the cats again if anything came up with our travels, and we came home to an impeccably clean house. She even washed the sheets, which made coming home that much better. We’ll definitely be hiring her again!”

“Orianna was wonderful. Tater Tot felt very comfortable with her. He ran to her when she came to the door. She stayed overnight at our house and was a model guest! She even offered to take the trash out with her. How thoughtful.”

“Davis was great: took great care of our dogs and our home, which includes chicken coop, koi pond and garden!. Very responsive, keeps in touch, trustworthy and loya. Will hire him again when when needed”

“The way I could not recommend Madilyn enough. She managed all 3 of our pups beautifully and always sent us pictures and updates while we were gone. She was so attentive and our dogs seemed so happy throughout her visit and when we got home. She is also amazing with big/high energy dogs. She also took great care of our home and made sure we came back to a clean place and happy pups. We will definitely be requesting her services again in the future.”

“Jennette took the time to come meet our “old ladies”. They took to her, in time and we were pleased she would be watching our girls for a few days. She kept us up to date and we would gladly have her watch our old ladies again. Very serene around our doggies.”
“Zosha did a fantastic job taking care of our home and, more importantly, our dog while we were away for almost a week. He kept us informed with updates and photos and we’ll likely use him again in the future.”

“August was great! I completely messed up our dates and they were so kind and accommodating. We really lucked out. We came home to a happy dog and a well cared for house. Thank you again!!! 💜💜”

“Christina was incredibly responsive and showed our dogs lots of love while we were gone. One of our dogs doesn’t usually eat when we leave but Christina made her feel so comfortable that she ate all her meals. We received updates regularly while gone in addition to Christina making sure our home was taken care of. Highly recommend using Christina!”

About: Having taken care of a precious Springer Spaniel for 14 years (Cocoa), I'll do my best to take care of your dog as if he or she were my own. I'm usually quite responsive when it comes to bookings and arrangements, responding within 15-20 minutes. I'll take them out to play and walk and feed them at least three times a day. I'll also bathe them, if need be. Most importantly, I will be as flexible and accommodating as possible to ensure that your dog will have fun while with me. I currently have open availability in my schedule, so I could most definitely sit your dog full-time if necessary. Above all else, I just love working with dogs as they are my favorite animal.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Annandale
Sophia stayed in our home and cared for our dog and two cats while we were away on vacation for a week. She was respectful of our home, kept everything tidy, and ensured our pets were well cared for. When we returned, all three of our fur babies were healthy, happy, and clearly comfortable in her care. During our trip, our dog got into the trash and required an emergency trip to the vet to induce vomiting. Sophie handled the situation responsibly, communicated with us promptly and clearly, and made sure our dog received the care she needed. Thankfully, she made an easy recovery without much issue. Based on our experience, I would not hesitate to hire Sophia again as a house sitter or pet sitter and would confidently recommend her to others.

Lana was absolutely FANTASTIC with my 4yo bulldog. She did a wonderful job looking after him, sending me great photos and videos, and I could tell she genuinely loves animals. She housesat as well, and left the place perfectly clean, even running her bedding through the washer and dryer! She also gave me good behavior status reports, and some extra tips for how to handle my dog’s overexcitement during first meetings. I am already trying to see when I can go away again whenever Lana is free, as it’s one less stress to know my sweet dog is in her capable care :)

Patricha was absolutely amazing! She stayed with our dog and house sat for us for several days. We have a very temperamental golden doodle, who can be a bit particular about her food and a bit attention-needy. Not only that, but our pup was also taking medication during our time away. Patricha was very communicative, attentive, and kind. She was also respectful of our home. We felt very comfortable, leaving our pup in her care which meant we were able to truly relax on our vacation. We will absolutely book with her again in the future!

We were so grateful to have Elena come and care for our sweet Olive during our wedding weekend! Especially on somewhat short notice! She took great care of our space and our girl! Would definitely recommend and book again. Thank you so much again, Elena!

She was absolutely wonderful! She was so sweet, caring, and attentive with my dog, and he absolutely loved her. It gave me such peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. I would definitely use her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving dog sitter. Thank you so much for taking such great care of him! ❤️🐾

Denise is the best! She stayed in our home and cared for our two dogs for two and a half weeks while we were on vacation, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She sent us frequent pictures and updates, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about bonding with our dogs and keeping them happy, comfortable, and safe. One of our dogs has severe anxiety, especially during storms and loud noises, and Denise was incredibly patient, attentive, and understanding with her. Knowing she was in such caring and capable hands gave us so much peace of mind. She also took wonderful care of our home, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Being able to enjoy our vacation without worrying about our dogs or our house was priceless—and probably the hardest thing for any pet owner to achieve when traveling! We couldn’t recommend Denise enough and would absolutely trust her to care for our dogs and home again!

Elisabeth did a great job for us on July 11. She was prompt, arriving when I asked her to come, followed my instructions and communicated and sent pictures throughout the day. Came home after a long day to happy, stress free dogs. We will definitely reach out to her again if her availability allows. 👍

The average cost for House Sitting in Annandale on Rover is $53.28 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Annandale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Annandale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Annandale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
