“Tamara was an amazing sitter to our two dogs! Both dogs (one a recent rescue) were immediately comfortable with her. She was very responsive and gave us frequent updates so we didn’t have to worry at all about how the dogs were doing. She was also very flexible with our pick up time when our flight was canceled and we got home much later than expected. We will definitely book again in the future!!”

“Scout was not ready to leave this house. David and his family were amazing sitters and will be hearing from me the next time I require care. Thank you guys for taking such great care of Scout!!”

“Heather is one of the best sitters on Rover! She does a great job of taking care of the dogs and keeping them on schedule. She is extremely kind and cooperative, and can work with any dog. Heather also sends updates throughout the day so that you can see how your dog is doing. If you are looking for a dogsitter, I would highly recommend bringing your dog to Heather! -Rachelle R.”

“Henry was great watching our two dogs for 8 days. He was very responsive to any questions or information we were seeking. He was highly communicative sending pictures and updates. We could tell he genuinely cared about our dogs. Highly recommended.”

“Sabine is awesome! She took really good care of my pup and kept me updated on how he was doing. She was friendly, flexible with drop off and pick up times, sent lots of pictures, and treated Rambo like her own. I would definitely recommend Sabine!”

“MARCELA was amazing! She not only did the pick up and drop off, our German Shepherd returned with a shiny coat and calm demeanor. She shared pictures every day and made sure I was comfortable 24/7! I’m sooo grateful for her and highly recommend her services...”

“This is my second time booking with Helena & Nathan! Louis loves doing zoomies in their backyard and came back home exhausted. He had a minor paw injury before dropping him off which required them to clean his paw every night and they had no problem doing it. Thanks so much!!”

“Mariel and her family were lovely. We received daily updates with pictures and videos. They took Remy on all sorts of fun adventures, entertained him with new toys and gave him lots of snuggles. Our pup is our baby and we would happily use Mariel again in the future.”

“Jeannette took good care of LuLu during the stay, and sent multiple pictures updates. I will definitely recommend and will book again if I need a sitter in the future! Thanks again Jeannette!”

“Brianna was fantastic! She sent me pictures every day and it literally looked like my dog was smiling in every one of them! Brianna is super responsive and took such great care of our pup! I’m already rebooking for summer vacation!”

“Daisy is naturally nervous and not all that good with change, or with other dogs. It says a lot about Miguelina & family that Daisy seems genuinely happy to arrive at their home, and both happy and healthy when we pick her up. We're very happy!”

“Highly recommend! John took such good care of our dog Bandit while we were away. Even with the cold temperatures I knew he was taken out for walks multiple times and dressed accordingly. John updated me daily with photos and information about Bandits day. I knew he was spoiled and loved on the entire 9 days we were away. I also appreciated the fact that Bandit had company all day, everyday.”

“Cowboy had another great visit with Corey and family. He always comes back worn out from all the activity. We know our guy is well loved and cared for. Corey continues to send regular videos which puts the kids at ease. He even helped with pickup bc we were in a pinch. Look forward to the next stay! Thank you Corey!”

About: Over the past 20 years, I’ve had three dogs, a Pomeranian, an Akita, and a Yorkshire Terrier. Each one had a different personality, but they were all very attached to me. None of them went to a training school, but they were all well-behaved. I trained them myself before they turned one year old. I currently live in a clean, quiet, pet-free home. There are no pets living in the house at this time, so visiting dogs will not have to share the space with other animals or adjust to another pet’s presence or scent. I only accept small dogs up to 20 lbs and prefer low-shedding breeds. My home provides a calm, clean, and comfortable environment where dogs can feel safe and relaxed during their stay. I’m home most of the day, so your dog will rarely be left alone. Big park around the house. Like walk and play with dog. Small dogs need lots of attention and one-on-one care, which is why I only host one dog at a time. I follow each owner’s feeding routine and do not give dogs any human food. Small dogs can have sensitive stomachs, so I believe consistency is important. My goal is to provide a quiet, comfortable, clean, and healthy environment where every dog can feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for.

“I couldn't recommend Gail more- she was absolutely amazing, and Bella (our pug) really seemed to enjoy her stay. Gail was very respectful of Bella's daily routine and sent us daily updates (which put our minds at ease during our trip). You can tell Gail loves dogs as she even makes her own dog biscuts -- so cool!! We hope to use Gail in the future and highly recommend her to others.”

Mariel went above & beyond taking care of our 16 yr. old cairn terrier. She made sure Cinnamon was given all her medications, and taken on daily walks. She also gave recommendations for dog beds and supplements. Mariel even took Cinnamon to get her nails clipped because she noticed they were causing her discomfort. Mariel sent us updates, pictures, and videos of Cinnamon every day. We are grateful and relieved we found such a genuinely concerned sitter, so we could go visit a family member out of state.

Our two dogs were very loved and cared for while we were out of town for four days. Erika checked in every day, and sent pictures. Lucy and Bernice got a lot of love and attention, which was great because both the dogs having anxiety. It was also the dogs’ first time staying with Erika and family, and they did really well. Thank you.

Connor was amazing for our pup while we were away for a trip! I loved that she got such great one on one attention and care - plenty of walks, playtime, and cuddles. It was clear from the many photos (that we loved getting) that our dog was relaxed, happy, and having fun. We will absolutely book with Connor again!!

GREAT SITTER AND VERY ATTENTIVE! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ She took excellent care of Atlas! I mentioned that he sometimes accidentally pees on his leg and that, with previous sitters, he has come home with staining on his white fur. Not this time! Atlas came home just as clean and white as he was when I dropped him off! 🥰 It’s the little details like this that show how attentive and caring she is. I truly appreciate the extra care she took with my baby and would absolutely recommend her!

Bella had a great time with Dorrie, Rob and their sweet dog Dottie during our 5 day vacation. I knew after our meet and greet that she would be well taken care of, comfortable in their peaceful home and get all the attention and walks that she loves. Bella was so happy to return and Dorrie sent multiple updates and photos during her stay. Communication, drop off and pick up were also terrific. I highly recommend Dorrie!

Bonnie is wonderful! She always takes fantastic care of our lab, Maisy! Bonnie is great with communication and we appreciate the pictures and updates she sends. We can tell that Maisy loves her (and Charlie) and it means the world to us knowing that she is being loved and well cared for!

Angelica has taken care of my pup multiple times and I’m always super happy with his care. She communicates well and sends pics so I feel good knowing my pups a happy healthy boy while I’m gone. She’s great to work with and I will definitely do so again in the future!

Brendan was absolutely amazing with Jim!! He sent daily updates, usually a few times a day, took such great care of him, exercised him, played with him, and was overall just so attentive and caring. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Jim will absolutely be going back to stay with Brendan in the future. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

We had such a wonderful experience! John, Gretchen, and their wonderful family took such great care of our dogs and treated them like their own. We really appreciated the daily updates and adorable photos—it gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Our pups were happy, well cared for, and clearly loved. We couldn’t have asked for better sitters and would absolutely recommend them! ❤️🐾

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Macy was in wonderful hands from start to finish and enjoyed her time with Emily, who is very friendly and incredibly communicative. We truly appreciated the attention and care Emily provided and would absolutely recommend Emily to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.

It was my first time using Rover, and Jaelyn was an amazing sitter! She would send me frequent updates with photos of my dog and made the experience so easy. She also had a dog similar to my dog and a backyard, so playtime seemed really fun. My dog was having a hard time adjusting and wasn't eating a lot, but Jaelyn was sure to update me frequently when he ate and made multiple attempts to make sure he was fed. I would definitely recommend her to anyone interested!

We’ve booked with Joelle twice now, and each experience has been wonderful! She is incredibly kind, accommodating, and genuinely cares for the dogs she watches. Her mom and dad also help out, and they are such kind and welcoming people. Joelle kept us updated every day with photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She even made sure our dog had a bath before we picked him up, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our dog occasionally has potty accidents, and Joelle was always so patient, understanding, and never made us feel like it was a problem. We truly appreciate the love and care she gave our pup. We highly recommend Joelle to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitter. Thank you again for taking such great care of our fur baby! We highly recommend Joelle❤️🙏

Maren and her family took very good care of our two bulldogs, Mia and Baixa, while we were out of state for four days. Baixa, unfortunately, arrived with an intestinal upset, but Maren was unphased, and immediately arranged her space to accommodate the problem. I definitely would use Maren again to care for our dogs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Donovans Corner home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Donovans Corner.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Donovans Corner sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
