About: I grew up with dogs and cats my whole life! I love spending time with animals and going on walks with them, or just relaxing at home and playing with them. I work from home full time. I love animals and this would be perfect for me to do. I am home all day and am able to watch them and let them out to play and use the bathroom frequently. I live in an apartment right next to a park! i make sure that i'm very cautious when walking and am always paying attention to your pet.
“Bishop did a great job with Murphy! He sent us pictures regularly and I swear Murphy was smiling! It was a complicated schedule and Bishop handled it perfectly giving us great peace of mind. We look forward to using him again.”

“Erica was amazing! We are so grateful to have found someone who took such great care of our Ollie. She was communicative, sent regular updates, and even pictures along to let us know how things were going. I highly recommend using Erica for pet sitting.”

“Emma watched Sadie while we were away for a day. She was communicative when needed, did everything we asked of her, and even stayed a little while extra to comfort Sadie when Sadie was afraid of fireworks going off outside. Sadie was cared for and in good spirits when we returned. We would happily book Emma again!”

About: I have been taking care of dogs and cats for 25 years. I have owned dogs from goldens to Boston’s and helped take care of dogs of all sizes in between. We currently have two one year old cats, who turned me from tolerable to cats to adoring them in a short period of time. I work from home, except when traveling, which are typically 24-hr trips, during the week. I am happy to do drop-ins or stays depending on availability Your pets will be taken care of as if you were home. I will do everything I can to maintain the same routine from breakfast/lunch/dinner times, to walks and playtime.
About: I have grown up around dogs my entire life and have always had a passion for caring for them. I have trained my own dogs and previously worked as a pet sitter while I was in college. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I’ll provide them with the same love, attention, and care I would give my own! I am currently enrolled in online classes, so I have plenty of time and flexibility to take care of your pets. whatever their needs are. I care for pets by following their routines, providing food, water, walks, playtime, and plenty of love and attention. I treat every pet like my own.
About: I’ve been walking my two dogs around downtown for more than 5 years—we know all the best spots! I nursed one of my dogs during surgical recovery and both are technically geriatric at this point, so I have experience with dogs of nearly all ages. Would love to get to know your fur babies! I work remotely downtown so my schedule is fairly flexible. Some days I have no meetings at all! Even when I do, they are few and far between. I generally tend to stay local to Downtown when I’m not working too. Plenty of walks and playtime, always making sure to keep an eye on them so they stay out of trouble. My dogs love to snuggle so we often curl up on the couch with a good show or movie!
“First sitting with Christine and she made it a breeze! Appreciated all her updates and especially her patience with my anxious fur baby. She helped put my mind at ease and allowed me to truly enjoy my vacation! Would recommend her without question ❤️”

“Zach was such a blessing to us. He was so understanding and flexible with our needs and our old doggies and kitties love him. He was attentive and thorough with all our millions of instructions for taking care of our geriatric Great Danes with many health issues. He also took care of some things last minute for us that I had forgotten to do. It was such a relief to find someone we could trust to stay with our boys. Thank you Zach ❤️”
“Stephanie was a wonderful sitter - she was quick to reply to us, even for a last-minute request, and provided us with frequent text/photo updates just how we like it. We came home to a clean apartment and a happy pup. We’d love to have her take care of our dog again!”

About: What sets me apart is the genuine care and attention I give to every pet. I understand that leaving your pet with someone new can be stressful, so I make it a priority to keep them comfortable, happy, and on their normal routine. I’m dependable and organized, and I take commitments seriously. I’ll make sure your pet’s care is a priority and that they receive the time and attention they deserve. I know pets are most comfortable when their routine stays consistent, so I’ll take the time to learn their preferences, habits, and any special instructions before you leave. About: I love dogs so much. I've always been willing to dog sit for friends, family, and neighbors. I have dog sat for many different kinds of dogs (including small, medium, and large dogs) since high school and I love every single dog I meet! I also have a pug puppy named Marshmallow! I currently work a full-time job (8am-4pm) so I'm generally free in the evenings and on the weekends to walk and play with your pet! I love dogs and I understand the importance of potty breaks, walks, and play time. I care about your dog’s safety during walks, play time, and potty breaks! I also understand the importance of giving medications to dogs when they need it. Caring for animals is something I genuinely enjoy, so it naturally fits into my routine. As a pet owner myself, I'm already planning my days around walks, feeding schedules, playtime, and making sure my own pets are happy and healthy. I have a flexible schedule and love being active, so adding walks, drop-in visits, or spending time with pets throughout the day is something I look forward to. My goal is always to provide dependable care while helping pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved until their family gets home. Your pet's safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I know every pet has different needs, so I take the time to learn their routine, personality, and any special instructions before each visit. Whether we're going for a walk, playing outside, or relaxing at home, I'll always keep your pet's safety in mind and make sure they're supervised and cared for. When caring for pets in a client's home, I treat both the pets and the home with the same respect I would want someone to show mine. I'll follow your instructions closely, keep your home clean and secure, and make sure your pet receives plenty of love, attention, exercise, and enrichment. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. My goal is simple: for you to come home to a happy, relaxed pet and feel confident that they were cared for as if they were part of my own family.

Miriam did a great job housesitting for our cat while we were away for a few weeks. She watered flowers and put the trash out as well as the car she gave to my kitty. She also contacted me when issues came up regarding the house, which I greatly appreciate appreciated.

Kai had a few issues with my dog Jackson, who still has young-dog energy and can be a handful. Kai was honest about the situation and we agreed to cut the stay short. I appreciated that Kai was upfront but still continued to work with him on training points thru our designated time. Would book again under different circumstances.

Christine did such a great job caring for our two sweet pups and our home while we were away. We received so many great photos throughout our trip and she is always so responsive. Christine also was super communicative for potential flight delays we may have experienced and offered to go check on them again before we got home, if needed. Thank you, Christine! Chip and Olive look forward to seeing you again!

Autumn watched my cat for the weekend and truly took care of her as well as I do. Autumn was kind and respectful of my home the entire weekend. She went above and beyond with care and transparency, such as letting me know when my cat was not drinking as much water so we could come up with solutions together. I would highly recommend Autumn to anyone and everyone looking for a pet sitter who will treat your animal like her own.

Sana did a great job taking care of my standard poodle. She was dependable, trustworthy, and followed all my instructions. She kept me updated throughout, and I felt completely comfortable the whole time. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter!

McRae did a great job taking care of my 8 year old dog. She left my house clean, and even stayed 90 minutes later than expected for my return when my flight was delayed. Her communication was excellent, and my dog really liked her. I would definitely book her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Columbus walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Columbus maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Columbus choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
