“I can't say enough good things. We were a little stressed about leaving Guapo (our anxious and sometimes reactive pittie mix) with someone new on short notice over the holiday weekend, but Bishop was willing to come do a meet and greet prior to staying over and was absolutely great. Guapo took to him easily and was so well cared for - I also appreciated the quick check ins and pics to reassure us he was doing okay. This was such a relief and we will definitely reach out for future bookings!”

“Melanie is amazing!! My girls loved her. My little feisty one even seemed to love her as much as she loves me! She spent plenty of quality time with my girls. They walked, played and had plenty of cuddle time. I received daily updates and pictures which made me feel so much more comfortable with trusting someone new. She’s the best and I can’t wait to book with her again.”

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with 15 years of experience caring for dogs and cats, and I treat every pet like they’re part of the family. ❤️ Whether your pup needs a good walk, your cat needs some company while you’re away, or your pet needs a comfortable place to stay, I’m here to provide dependable, loving care. 🐶 Dog Walking: Safe, enjoyable walks tailored to your dog’s energy and needs. 🏡 In-Home Boarding: A comfortable, loving home environment where your pet can feel relaxed and cared for while you’re away. 🐾 Drop-In Visits: I’ll stop by to check on your pets, give them attention and playtime, provide fresh food and water, and make sure they’re doing well. 🐱 Cat Care: I’m happy to care for your cats by feeding them, refreshing their water, cleaning up after them, changing litter, and giving them plenty of love and attention. I understand that leaving your pets with someone else requires trust. My goal is to give you peace of mind while giving your pets the attention, consistency, and affection they deserve. I’d love the opportunity to become your pet’s trusted sitter, walker, and second home. 🐾❤️ 10 years of experience. Lots of love. One happy pet at a time. I work part-time from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be available for pet care throughout the day. I’m able to accommodate walks, drop-in visits, feeding, litter care, and plenty of quality time with your pets while you’re away. When caring for pets in their own home, I focus on keeping their routine as comfortable and familiar as possible. I follow your instructions closely, provide plenty of love and attention, and make sure they have fresh food, water, clean spaces, and anything else they need. I also respect your home as if it were my own, leaving everything clean, secure, and just as I found it. I provide a comfortable, home-like environment where dogs can feel safe, loved, and included. I have four cats, so dogs staying with me may be around other animals, and they’ll also have access to small children in the home. My home has a fenced-in backyard for safe outdoor time, plus plenty of opportunities for walks and fresh air. For pups who enjoy an adventure, I’m also happy to include supervised car rides and outings when appropriate.

“If you can get Brittany to dog sit/house sit, you won't be disappointed. She's incredibly professional, punctual and connects immediately with your animals. My senior dogs bonded quickly with her and seemed disappointed that I was the one that came back. She was also very responsive and would send pictures occasionally of how they were doing. They seemed to have the best time with her. Just book her, she's incredibly gifted at this.”

About: I had my beloved puggle from 9 weeks until 11, he was diabetic and blind. I have skill administering insulin and other medication. I miss having a dog in my home. But not ready to love on own just yet. I am currently working part time from home. I am free to take walks, potty breaks and will always make time for scratches and cuddles!! I have a good sized fenced in yard, locked garbage can, doggy steps and I have a variety of gates to use if you prefer your dog in one area of my home.

Our dog - who is usually quite anxious - was extremely comfortable and relaxed with her while we were on vacation, even over the 4th of July when loud noises usually bother him. Kam stayed at our home and sent lots of cute dog pics while we were away. Highly recommend!”

About: Hi! My name is Marae. A little about me:   I grew up in a home filled with a love for all animals, especially dogs and cats. From feeding and grooming to playtime, giving medication and comforting them when they were anxious, I learned early on how to understand their unique personalities and needs. Because animals have always been such an important part of my life, working with them feels completely natural to me and I truly enjoy it!   When I worked at a pet boarding facility, I cared for a wide variety of dogs and cats, each with their own routines, personalities, and preferences. I always made it a priority to ensure every pet felt safe, comfortable, and loved while their families were away. I treat every animal as if they were my own.   I’m also a proud cat mom to three: Luna Storm, Chanse the Rapper (he talks a lot, hence the name), and Giovanni Grey.   My schedule is flexible and I am normally available even with little notice. I would love the opportunity to care for your pet soon! Im currently working a full time work at home job. Im typically off by 3:00pm but can be off earlier if need be! :) I also have a lot of time open on the weekends. I have a lot of experience taking care of others animals! Something I'm most proud of is being able to read body language and reactions from each pets as each are so different!

We had a wonderful experience with Laura and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable pet sitter. We needed to be out of town helping family, Laura stepped in on short notice and was fantastic. Bentley is very much a part of our family—he sleeps with us and has an early morning routine—so we didn’t want to kennel him or leave him alone with drop-in visits. Having Laura stay in our home gave us complete peace of mind. She took the time to come over and meet Bentley with us beforehand, arrived exactly when she said she would, and took excellent care of him all weekend. She sent regular updates and pictures, which meant a lot to us while we were away. It was clear Bentley was comfortable, well cared for, and happy. Laura was trustworthy, communicative, and genuinely kind to our dog. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for in-home pet care.

FAQs for House Sitting - Whitehall

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Whitehall on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,505 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Whitehall. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Whitehall walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Whitehall maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Whitehall choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Whitehall. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
