Melanie is excellent - super communicative and attentive! She sent tons of update pics while we were gone and was on top of everything. My favorite is that she described my dog as a “lovey little meatball” and that is now my go-to description of him! It’s so apt. We will definitely use her again.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for many years and currently have two dogs of my own experience-wise, including raising one from a puppy. My first dog was a rescue who was a beloved member of my family until she passed away in 2024, which taught me a lot about patience, routine care, and caring for a dog through all stages of life. I also have a senior dog who is 12 years old, so I’m familiar with the extra attention and care older pets sometimes need. While I haven’t owned a cat myself, I’ve spent time around cats while visiting friends and family and am comfortable caring for both dogs and cats. I understand how important it is to keep pets safe, happy, and comfortable while their owners are away. Pet care is already a consistent part of my daily routine since I have dogs of my own. Each day I’m used to feeding, walking, playing with, and checking in on them, so caring for animals fits naturally into my schedule. Because I work part-time as a swim instructor in the mornings and have lighter hours outside of that, I have plenty of flexibility during the day and evening to care for other pets. On a weekly basis, I’m available most afternoons, evenings, and parts of the weekend, and I’m comfortable adjusting my schedule to meet a pet’s needs and routine. Safety and trust are very important to me when caring for pets. In my own home, I care for my dogs by keeping a clean, calm, and safe environment. I make sure they always have fresh water, proper feeding schedules, and regular exercise. I’m attentive to their behavior and needs, and I prioritize keeping them comfortable and stress-free. When caring for pets in a client’s home through drop-ins or walks, I respect each pet’s routine and follow all instructions carefully. I always make sure doors are secure, pets are safe before leaving, and I provide updates so owners feel confident and informed while they’re away.

Emberly was spectacular. She helped us out with very short notice, taking care of three dogs that can get pretty rowdy. She handled our sick puppy with the care, love, and affection Dottie needed, even though Emberly didn’t know until the night before how much specialized care Dottie would need. My wife and I greatly appreciate Emberly’s help, and we would definitely use her again.

About: Hi! My name is Marae. A little about me:   I grew up in a home filled with a love for all animals, especially dogs and cats. From feeding and grooming to playtime, giving medication and comforting them when they were anxious, I learned early on how to understand their unique personalities and needs. Because animals have always been such an important part of my life, working with them feels completely natural to me and I truly enjoy it!   When I worked at a pet boarding facility, I cared for a wide variety of dogs and cats, each with their own routines, personalities, and preferences. I always made it a priority to ensure every pet felt safe, comfortable, and loved while their families were away. I treat every animal as if they were my own.   I’m also a proud cat mom to three: Luna Storm, Chanse the Rapper (he talks a lot, hence the name), and Giovanni Grey.   My schedule is flexible and I am normally available even with little notice. I would love the opportunity to care for your pet soon! Im currently working a full time work at home job. Im typically off by 3:00pm but can be off earlier if need be! :) I also have a lot of time open on the weekends. I have a lot of experience taking care of others animals! Something I'm most proud of is being able to read body language and reactions from each pets as each are so different!

About: Hi there! I’ve been working with animals all my life and even spent my summers interning at veterinary clinics in Ghana. I have an adorable dog of my own as well. I also have an older dog since I was 9. I prefer to sit over the weekends because I do have a busy work schedule during the week. I don’t mind watching till Monday evening s I do have a full fenced back yard and there is a dog park in the area. I live alone with more than enough room for your fur pup

About: Ive been around many animals all of my life, and love them so much! Whether you have a cat, dog, fish, hamster, or even a turtle, Id treat your pet as if it was my own! Ive been officially pet sitting for 3 years now, but growing up we had all sorts of pets so Ive been taking care of them for years! My services are overnight sitting, walking your dogs, stopping in to feed/ let them outside, or just staying with the pets for a few hours! I love all animals (excluding mosquitoes lol) so Id love to take care of yours! I currently work Monday- Friday 7:40 Am- 3:20 Pm, but I am still able to let dogs out to use the restroom before and after work/ feed animals, and I’m able to stay nights with them if need be! Saturdays/Sundays are fully open for me as well. I can take dogs on walks, or if clients have a fenced in yard I can stay out there and play with them. I am able to come stay for longer hours/ overnight past 3:20 PM on weekdays, and can stay all day on weekends! I am good with any dog/cat breeds, and will offer unconditional love and support to your babies!

Baileigh did such a great job taking care of our senior dogs. One of our dogs will refuse to eat if she is upset or stressed and Baileigh got her to eat for each meal. You could tell by her pics that our girls were totally comfortable with her. Baileigh kept us updated during our trip which is always a relief. Thank you so much!!

Bethany is extremely responsible and knowledgable about dogs. She was attentive to the needs of my two dogs (a golden retriever/lab mix & a sharpei/beagle mix). I especially appreciated her communication while I was away ~ both with updates and with a couple questions (to me, the questions meant she really cared). I had confidence my dogs were in good hands ~ allowing me to truly enjoy my time away. I came home to a clean home and HAPPY dogs. This was my first time with Bethany, and it was an excellent experience! ~ Wendy T.

FAQs for House Sitting - Pickerington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Pickerington on Rover is $37.45 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,486 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Pickerington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pickerington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pickerington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pickerington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Pickerington. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
