I had a great experience with Alejandra. She took perfect care of my 14 year old dog with no trouble. Smooth communication, very reassuring and caring! My pup is usually a little shy at first but Alejandra was so patient and sweet! I’m so glad I reached out to her to watch my boy! I would definitely recommend Alejandra to anyone that’s looking for a reliable pet sitter.

Karli watched over my super anxious rescue pug who struggles with separation anxiety but Karli was understanding and patient with her and it wasn’t long until I was receiving updates of Kewpie snuggled up to her! Thanks Karli for providing Kewpie a safe place to snooze for the day.

Stefy and Felix took amazing care of Sophie! She can be quite anxious when away from home, but they were incredibly patient and made her feel safe and comfortable. Sophie clearly loved staying with them and settled in much better than I expected. Their dog Coco is also very calm and sweet, and was a wonderful companion for Sophie. I really appreciated all the care, updates, and attention they gave her. Highly recommend, and I would happily book with them again! ❤️🐾

Bella is was so lucky to have Jeanne’s care for our dog. She was incredibly patient, kind, and attentive throughout the entire time. It was clear that she genuinely cared and took the time to make sure our dog felt comfortable, happy, and well looked after. We appreciated the updates and the peace of mind knowing our pet was in such capable hands. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Michael was so loving to our senior Cavalier King Charles. At the very last minute we found ourselves on the North Shore requiring 6 hours of dog-sitting for Ruby. Michael responded quickly to our request. He showed us his home while Ruby acclimatized. In their time together he sent almost hourly photos - Ruby playing, walking outside, relaxing and getting cuddles. He fed Ruby her dinner and had her packed and walked her out to meet us. We had an enjoyable 6 hours visiting our relatives ( not dog lovers) knowing Ruby was so well looked after. We highly recommend Michael for your dogs needs.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalized care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your North Vancouver commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in BC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
