Mehri (the dog walker) has been a Godsend! I sometimes need to change the booking if either my dog (Okey-Dokey) or I am sick. We both have chronic illnesses that can change on a time so even 24 hours notice is not always adequate. For this walk in particular I (Jasmine ) changed the time at the last minute as both my dog and I were suddenly sick. Mehri was kind and gracious enough to still walk him despite my staying in bed sick. My dog was sick and I had given him meds before his walk but it took effect when they’d returned. Mehri was so concerned she stayed at my home with him after the walk to ensure that he was well. She only left when she realized that he just wanted to sleep the meds off but was otherwise ok. How wonderful to know we can have this kind of dedication!

Ivan and Niamh are lovely and sweet to Arlo. I feel lucky to have found them. I got a great feeling from the moment we met. They are great communicators and offered ways to reassure me that it would be okay, as I am new to Rover and was feeling a little anxious about it all. I will continue to use them for walking Arlo and would certainly use them for boarding too. Arlo is a happy boy when he is out walking with them :)

I arranged for Selena to walk Roxy last minute after my dog sitter fell through (her review from her dad had me sold!). I was nervous as Roxy can be timid going with new people. My daughter was home and was able to facilitate the meet and greet. She said Roxy was happy to meet Selena and was eager to go on their walk. From the looks of the pictures they had a great hour long walk! I’d call Selena again!

Angela has been walking my Australian Shepherd, Alpine, for the past week, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Alpine can be a bit of a stubborn walker, especially with new people, but Angela approached him with such patience and calm energy that he quickly began to trust her. It’s clear she truly understands dogs and takes the time to build a real bond with them. I highly recommend Angela to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and skilled dog walker. She’s been a fantastic addition to Alpine’s routine!

Robin has been wonderful with our mini golden retriever, Ernie. She’s friendly, flexible, and very responsive, which has made everything so easy. We really appreciate the detailed updates she shares on Ernie’s Rover card after each walk. It’s clear she genuinely cares and pays attention to how he’s doing. Best of all, Ernie absolutely adores her. He gets so excited when he sees her, and it gives us so much confidence knowing he’s in such good hands. We highly recommend Robin!

About: I've had dogs and cats in my life since I was a young child and still today can't pass a dog on the street without stopping to say hi! My most recent dog was a Goldendoodle who loved people and loved being in the water every chance possible! She was with us for over 15 years and spent much time swimming or hiking on the local trails. Today I also dog-sit or walk friends and neighbours dogs as much as possible. I retired early from corporate life and now fill my days with more interesting adventures. I spend a lot of time walking and my schedule during the days is usually very flexible. We live in a spacious townhouse with multiple enclosed outdoor spaces. We are surrounded by forest with endless walking trails and play areas! Dogs in our home are treated like part of our family, but always respecting the routines you have established for them already. We have a fenced in patio area and lots of other dogs in the neighbourhood.

I organize my days around the dogs I look after — from morning walks and feeding schedules to playtime, cuddles, and evening check-ins. I’m home three days a week, which gives me plenty of dedicated time to focus on their comfort and happiness. Even on my working days, I make sure they have a consistent routine with regular walks, outdoor breaks on my fenced balcony with a doggy door, and lots of affection. Caring for pets isn’t just something I do — it’s something that brings me joy and balance throughout my week. Safety and trust are always my top priorities. In my home, pets enjoy a calm, clean, and secure environment where they are treated like part of the family. I have a large fenced balcony with a doggy door, allowing them to enjoy fresh air safely at any time of the day. Indoors, they have cozy resting spots, access to clean water at all times, and plenty of supervised playtime and affection. I make sure each dog’s routine is followed carefully — from feeding schedules and walks to any special instructions from their owner. I always keep a close eye on interactions between dogs to ensure everyone feels comfortable and happy. When I care for pets in a client’s home, I maintain their normal routines and respect their space, keeping everything just as the owner prefers. I provide regular updates, photos, and messages so owners feel confident and connected while they’re away. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, loved, and at ease — and every owner feel completely reassured.

Xiaoyu is very kind, communicative, and punctual. My senior dog, Lenny, loves his midday walks with him around the neighborhood. I especially appreciate all the photo updates Xiaoyu sends, as well as how flexible and accommodating he has been with last-minute schedule changes. He is very conscientious and attentive to Lenny’s individual needs. During our meet-and-greet, he took notes to make sure he understood Lenny’s routine and preferences. He also makes sure Lenny gets a good mix of on-leash walks and off-leash time at the dog park. It’s clear that Xiaoyu genuinely cares about providing thoughtful, attentive care for each animal he looks after. I really appreciate the care and attention he’s given to Lenny.

We had a great experience with Seyed and Shabnam taking care of Ernie. They were both so kind, reliable, and clearly comfortable around dogs. You can tell they genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and take the responsibility seriously. Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in North Vancouver. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighbourhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

Tip: Keep in mind that many cities in Canada require your dog walker to have a permit or licence for group walks.

For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance travelled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in North Vancouver.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Vancouver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 86% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
