“Marina is a true dog lover who cares deeply about your pet. Our pup Baker had an amazing day with her -he came home tuckered out and so happy. It gave me such peace of mind knowing he was in such caring, capable hands.”

“Lily watched Meeka for 5 night in my home while I was away. She responds very quickly, she’s very professional and Meeka adores her. She was also very accommodating with the start/end times do my flights. I’ll be sure to keep her in mind for the next time.”

“Lyndsey stayed with our dogs and home while we were out of town, and it was a relief to leave them with such a trusted and responsible individual. We received lots of sweet updates with happy smiling dogs, and our home was left in great condition. Thanks, Lyndsey!”

“This was the first time we have had someone stay with our dog while out of town, and it was a great experience. Had regular updates from Angela with photos and we know our dog was well looked after and loved! The house was left in super clean condition. We look forward to having Angela stay again the next time we are out of town. Highly recommend!”

“Glenda was very communicative, sending pictures and updates during her stay with us while taking care of Lola. She also was able to take on the job very last minute which we were appreciate of.”

“Wow! I couldn’t have felt more secure to leave my little guy with Hayley & Jacob. They were fantastic. They stayed at my place and left the place cleaner than when I left it. Toby was super happy with them and it just settled my nerves because they were so great.”

“We had a great experience with Melissa. She was fast to respond, easy to communicate with, and came over to our house beforehand for a meet and greet, which I really appreciated. From the beginning, I felt that she was reliable and trustworthy. I felt completely comfortable leaving my home and the dogs in her care, knowing she would show up exactly as agreed. Melissa took wonderful care of Pablo and Braza. She took them on adventures to the beach, followed all of my wishes and instructions carefully, and truly went above and beyond. What stood out most was how calm, capable, and unfazed she was with my dogs’ special needs and sometimes slightly out-of-line behavior – she didn’t flinch or seem overwhelmed at all. Overall, I felt I could fully trust Melissa and our agreement from start to finish. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable, caring, and communicative dog sitter.”

About: I've been a dog sitter for 4 years, fueled by my family's passion for dogs - my grandfather and uncle are dog trainers. I believe dogs deserve unconditional love and care, just as they give it to us. You can use my promotion code: CELICP96878, https://www.rover.com/sit/celicp96878 I currently work part-time in a doggy daycare, so I'm probably busier some days than others but I always going to be super happy to play and have fun with your furry friend. Dogs, like people, have their own personalities, eh? So, I just let them be themselves. If they're into gettin' petted, I'm happy to oblige. But if they're not feelin' it, I'll just give them their space, make sure they're fed and comfy, and show them some love while their owner's away. But please let me know if you're having any issues with the walks or behavior because maybe I could help you.
“Ivan and Niamh took excellent care of our dogs and home while we were away. We received updates on their feeding, walks and plays. We’ve even had neighbors comment on how much fun the dogs seemed to have with them. I highly recommend Ivan and Niamh and will also be happy to book them again.”

“Brooke did a great job taking care of our dogs this weekend, she left the place clean and organized and the dogs were happy and healthy. She provides daily updates and photos which we really appreciate!”

“Menka took such attentive and wonderful care of our pup in our home while we were away. She prioritized his needs and was so thoughtful, sending us many updates and pictures. We are so happy we met Menka and fully recommend her, she is such a lovely person. Thank you Menka”

“Eunix was great. She asked questions and followed the instructions provided. She gave me several updates through the day. I would recommend her to anyone lookig for house sitting. Leo was very happg when we came back.”

“Heather stayed at our place with our dog Stanley for 3 weeks while we were in Europe. She sent through detailed updates, pictures and videos and dealt with a few unexpected house issues that came up so professionally too. Our dog can be nervous with new people and has some reactivity. Heather was professional, understanding and really loving towards Stanley. We could tell how experienced she was with dogs. Stanley was so relaxed when we got back and we could tell how well he had been looked after. Thank you so much, Heather!”

“Deborah was wonderful with our dog Nessie, we had full confidence. Communication was great, and she handled Nessie's medical needs (insulin injection and medication) no problem. We would definitely book again!”

About: Hi, I’m Kat! I’ve been a cat mom to the love of my life, Elfie, for nearly 12 years and have been cat-obsessed for as long as I can remember. Elfie is anxious and skittish around new people and unfamiliar spaces, so I understand that sometimes pets need extra patience and time before they feel comfortable. I typically let pets approach me at their own pace rather than rushing or overwhelming them. I also love dogs and have cared for them for friends and neighbours. I take them on walks, provide lots of playtime and enrichment activities, and go on outdoor adventures, while following each dog’s routine, energy level, health needs, and comfort level. Every pet has their own unique personality, habits, and preferences, and I know how important it is to pay attention to signals and body language. I’ll follow your instructions carefully and keep their routine as consistent as possible. I will be sure to provide plenty of calm companionship, affection, exercise, and mental stimulation - I want nothing more than to provide the absolute best care for your pet as I would want for Elfie! I know it can be stressful to leave your pet and invite someone into your home - I've been there! You can relax knowing I’ll treat both your pet and your home with the same care and respect I would want for my own. I’m also happy to arrange a meet-and-greet beforehand so we can discuss your pet’s needs and make sure everyone feels comfortable! I’m currently taking on freelance work, so I have a flexible schedule and can provide care during the day. For drop-in visits and dog walks, we can agree on a schedule that works well for your pet’s routine. During housesitting stays, I’ll spend most of my time in your home and will only be out for errands or other necessary commitments. I’ll confirm the expected schedule with you in advance so you know how long your pet will be alone. For doggy day care, I’ll be home for most of the day aside from walks, outdoor activities, and occasional errands. I’ll make sure your dog receives regular bathroom breaks, exercise, attention, meals, and rest throughout the day. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are my priority. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, keep doors and gates secure, use leashes as requested, and only allow off-leash time, dog parks, hikes, car rides, or other activities with your explicit approval. Before your booking, I’ll make sure I understand your pet’s routine, feeding instructions, medications, exercise needs, triggers, and emergency contacts. If something unexpected happens, I’ll contact you promptly, and if I don't receive a reply within a reasonable timeframe, I will reach out to your emergency contact. Please let me know your preferred veterinary plan ahead of time. I’ll treat your home with respect by keeping it clean, locking doors and windows, and following any alarm or access instructions. I can also water plants, collect mail, take out garbage, and handle any other agreed-upon home details. I’ll also send regular photo and written updates so you can relax while you’re away! I have a cat of my own - for doggy day care in my home, my cat will remain in a separate, secure bedroom/office while your dog uses the rest of the apartment. There will be no unsupervised interaction between them, and I’ll only accept dogs who can safely and comfortably stay in this type of environment.
“It’s our second time booking with Isobel and once again she was amazing with our boys. They absolutely adore her and she takes such great care of them! Will definitely book her for future stays. Thanks Isobel!”

“Cairo (my cat) is gregarious and loves the company of people. I felt at ease knowing Hannah was caring for my cat while I was away. My home was clean and tidy when I returned. I will definitely ask Hannah to care for Cairo again.”

Marina was awesome right from the start. She’s a great communicator, professional, and an obvious animal lover! She took such wonderful care of Pirate while I was away. It makes a huge difference, knowing your beloved pet is in such great hands. I highly recommend Marina and will definitely book her again!

Our cat is very nervous and skittish around new people, but she was totally comfortable and even cuddling with her while we were away. House was very clean when we got home, and we got photo updates every day which was super reassuring. Absolutely great experience, would highly recommend!

Han was fantastic! They came for the meet and greet prepared with a list of questions and our cats immediately loved them. We got regular updates with plenty of great photos and the cats were very well cared for. The house was cleaner when we got home than when we left. 10/10 will use them again. Thanks Han!

Words cannot express how amazing Shaila was! We’ve used this service a few times, but we’ve never experienced someone who showed such genuine care, compassion, and love for our old boy. Shaila was incredibly responsible and attentive with his medication and needs, and she kept us updated several times a day with messages and photos of their activities, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She went above and beyond—buying him toys and treats she knew he would love and, most importantly, giving him so much attention, affection, and companionship. It was very clear that she truly cared about him. She also took wonderful care of our home and left everything just as clean and tidy as we had left it. Thank you, Shaila, from the bottom of our hearts for taking such incredible care of our boy. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better and would trust you with Shawn again without hesitation. ❤️

Fiona was an absolutely wonderful housesitter and took excellent, thoughtful care of both of my cats and my space. One of the many reasons I chose to go with Fiona - George needs to take medication twice a day and Fiona's experience with administering medication orally was a relief on my mind as it wasn't a problem for her. She gave daily updates and left me at ease that my senior babies were well taken care of. Fiona is methodolical and organized, and went above and beyond in taking care of my household and leaving it in a better state. Thank you, Fiona! Me and the kitties are looking forward to the next time you house-sit.

I highly recommend Janea to look after your pets! She is a responsible, caring, reliable sitter who is intuitive with dogs and cats. Our dog immediately felt comfortable with her and even our very shy cat started to trust her. Janea was very responsive in her communication and left our place very tidy and the pets happy after their weekend with her. I would certainly have her look after our pets again!

Angela stayed at our place for 2 weeks taking care of our 2 Australian Shepherds. One of our dogs is reactive and the other elderly, so both have their special care. She sent lots of updates and let us know of any concerns related to our place or the apartment. When we returned our pups were happy and healthy, and apartment just as we left it. Would highly recommend Angela to anyone looking for pet care!

Menka was very kind and loving with Leo. He was extremely anxious as I have not left him at home with a sitter for several years now. Menka was very patient with him and gave him a lot of attention and affection, which he loved. She also went above and beyond to care for my home. She watered my flowers and provided assistance to my basement suite tenants with their wifi to name just a few of the extra things she did to help me while I was away.

Anna Katharina was fantastic! We could tell right away that she had a kind soul and truly loves dogs. She responded to our short-notice housesitting request within minutes and was flexible about our unusual needs. Our senior pup Calvin got lots of love and attention, including daily medicine, and we got great photos of him every day. We'd book her again in a heartbeat. :)

Petra came to our rescue at the last minute, and did a great job looking after our energetic one year old husky for the evening. Petra was skilled at providing enrichment and outlets for our dog’s energy, as well as helping our pup to settle and calm. She was responsive and sent wonderful updates. Our dog looked happy and calm when we returned home. I would definitely reach out to Petra again! :)

Eva recently house/pet sat for my cat Cookie for 3 weeks. She was very responsive before and during my absence. She also sent photos and videos regularly and my apartment was well cared for. She left flowers and some pick-me-ups for me from my long travels. Thank you Eva, I appreciated your support. So did Cookie 🐱.

I honestly cannot recommend Quinn enough. We are quite picky about who we trust to stay in our home and look after our dogs, so we honestly weren’t sure if we would ever find someone we felt completely comfortable leaving them with. Quinn completely blew us away. This was the first time we’ve ever left our dogs with someone and felt like we could actually relax and not worry about how our babies were doing. We received so many updates and photos throughout the few days, which gave us so much peace of mind and made us feel completely reassured that our dogs were happy, comfortable, and very well cared for. Quinn stayed at our house and took such amazing care of both our dogs. When we got home, our dogs were so excited to see us, and it was obvious they had been incredibly happy and well cared for while we were away. Quinn also went above and beyond by cleaning our entire house before we got home, which was such an incredibly thoughtful and unexpected bonus. Quinn was trustworthy, attentive, communicative, and clearly genuinely loves dogs. We came home to two very happy pups and a spotless house, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We seriously cannot recommend Quinn enough and would absolutely have Quinn stay with our dogs again. If you’re looking for someone you can completely trust with your pets, Quinn is the person you want!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Vancouver maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Vancouver walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Vancouver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
