“This is the 2nd time Angela looked after my pets, a dog and a cat. Highly recommend Angela as she takes very good care of them and sends me daily updates with pictures.”

“Eva is a great dog sitter! Highly recommend. She sends regular updates and videos throughout her stay. She even makes suggestions for certain foods to suit the dogs needs. Bonus, she leaves the house very clean to come home too!”

“Lily looked after my dog Vegemite for the long weekend and did a fantastic job. She was patient and caring and Vegemite was clearly comfortable with her. She was responsible and communicative and left the house in good order. Would highly recommend. Thanks so much Lily!”

“Heather stayed at our place with our dog Stanley for 3 weeks while we were in Europe. She sent through detailed updates, pictures and videos and dealt with a few unexpected house issues that came up so professionally too. Our dog can be nervous with new people and has some reactivity. Heather was professional, understanding and really loving towards Stanley. We could tell how experienced she was with dogs. Stanley was so relaxed when we got back and we could tell how well he had been looked after. Thank you so much, Heather!”

“Ivan and Niamh took excellent care of our dogs and home while we were away. We received updates on their feeding, walks and plays. We’ve even had neighbors comment on how much fun the dogs seemed to have with them. I highly recommend Ivan and Niamh and will also be happy to book them again.”

“Glenda is a very sweet and kind person who truly earned the affection of our cat, Israel, who is usually quite shy around people he doesn't know. We would definitely leave Israel in Glenda’s care again!”

“Isobel did a fantastic job looking after Finn on short notice. She took a genuine interest in his care and provided daily updates. Would recommend Isobel for dog walking or dog sitting.”

“Allison was warm, kind, and punctual. She was confident with my 2 large breed dogs. She was thoughtful to send us a text and picture to let us know things were going great. I would recommend her and use her services again.”

“Lyndsey stayed with our dogs and home while we were out of town, and it was a relief to leave them with such a trusted and responsible individual. We received lots of sweet updates with happy smiling dogs, and our home was left in great condition. Thanks, Lyndsey!”

About: Hi! I’m Jo, a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats. I grew up in a pet-loving home surrounded by animals and have been the proud parent of my own cat for over 3 years. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your furry family member. That’s why I always provide pet care that’s not only reliable and professional - but warm, attentive, and tailored to your pet’s needs. Whether your dog loves long walks or your cat just needs a calm presence, I’m here to offer a safe, happy environment while you’re away. I have an academic background in both Communication and Biological Sciences, which has given me a deeper understanding of animal behavior, health, and the importance of clear, compassionate communication with pet parents. Whether it’s noticing subtle changes in a pet’s mood or making sure pet parents feel informed and reassured, I bring both scientific understanding and emotional awareness to every booking. I’m comfortable with feeding schedules, playtime, litter and potty breaks, administering basic medications, and keeping you updated with photos and messages. Your pet’s well-being and comfort are my top priority. Let’s set up a meet & greet - I’d love to get to know you and your furry baby! I work as a care aide at a hospital, but my position is casual, which means I have the flexibility to build my own schedule. I only accept bookings on my days off, so when I’m with your pet, they’ll have my full attention. On my free days, I genuinely enjoy spending quiet time at home with my own cat, going for peaceful walks, or just unwinding with low-key activities - making pet sitting the perfect fit for me. I also have my own car and am happy to drive to your location for bookings. My boyfriend is also a pet sitter on Rover, and through him I’ve picked up lots of great tips on creating a comfortable, reliable experience for pets and their people. Together, we share a deep love for animals and understand how to provide a calm, safe environment. I’m happy to accommodate most needs - just let me know what works best for you and your pet! I currently offer drop-in visits, dog walking, and house sitting - no in-home boarding. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize safety, comfort, and respect. My experience working in private home care has taught me how to navigate someone’s space with professionalism, confidentiality, and care. I treat your home the same way I treat your pet - with mindfulness and attention to detail. I always follow instructions closely, maintain a calm environment, and make sure your pet feels secure and cared for in their familiar space. I also make a point to keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel at ease while you’re away.

“Anna was really great! She was punctual, very kind and we knew Tilly was in great hands! We were also late coming home, and she still stayed until we got back! You can tell Anna loves pets and genuinely cares. DEFINITELY BOOK WITH ANNA! We will be again! :)”

“Menka and Chris did an amazing job taking care of Marvin and Bingo. My dogs were happy, healthy and tired! They even cared for one dog who had diarrhea at the beginning of their stay. Iodates were frequent, good detail, cute pictures and videos. They also left my home very clean and were a welcome presence with neighbours. Absolute peace of mind!”

“I cannot recommend April enough! She went above and beyond in caring for my cat and truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we connected, I felt completely at ease. My cat can be a bit shy with new people, but April won her over with patience and kindness. I received daily updates with adorable photos and little notes that showed just how attentive and loving she was. It was clear my cat was not only safe, but genuinely happy and relaxed. Coming home to a content, well-cared-for kitty (and a tidy home!) was the best feeling. If you’re looking for someone who treats your pet like their own, look no further. “Eunice was very impressive. She was prepared to build relationship with our dog from the moment she entered our house to meet us and Dexi our German Shepard. Eunice was calm, kind, and very flexible. She took good care of our house and our energetic young dog. She has a lot of knowledge and experience with animals which came through when we met her and after the fact in debriefing her weekend with Dexi. She sent us many updates through photos, videos and text reports while we were away. We would definitely seek her support with dog sitting again in the future.”

Iman was so good with our pitbull terrier. He is 15 with specific medications and funny quirks, and Iman handled him with care and compassion over a few days while we were away. We will definitely book with Iman again. It is relieving to have someone that we can trust.

We were initially sceptical about this service since it was our first time using it and we had a very anxious and emotionally needy dog...the cat could care less :). Nancy and Aaron were able to bond quickly with our dog and kept us up to date with pictures and texts. Our house was immaculate when we returned looking as though a cleaning service had just gone thru it. Being able to leave your fur children in your own house and have someone come in , I believe, alleviates some stress for the animals. We were glad we found Nancy and will definately use her again when we need a sitter.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Vancouver maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Vancouver walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Vancouver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
