“We had the pleasure of having Cara look after our dog, Finn, and she was absolutely wonderful! She kept us updated every day with photos and messages, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. Finn looked so happy and well cared for the entire time. On top of that, we came home to a spotless house, Cara even went the extra mile and washed the linens. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and thoughtful dog sitter. She truly treats your fur baby like her own!”

“Nasrin was a fantastic sitter for our big dog. He’s sometimes apprehensive with new people, but Nasrin approached with confidence and care. We would recommend Nasrin to anyone who needs pet sitting with a big dog. We look forward to rebooked with her in the future.”

“Was very pleased with Leila's dog sitting service! She was very sweet & knew all the right questions to ask about my dogs' care. She wasn't even phased by hearing my dog sleeps on the pillow next to me! She also sent me pics of Marti which I really liked:) She kept my place very clean, which was nice to come home to after a weekend away. I will definitely recommend her to my friends!!”

“Ibrahim is an excellent sitter. He is clean, tidy, responsive, sends lots of photos, and most importantly takes wonderful care of my cats. They are happy and not stressed at all. We have hired Ibrahim twice, and will not hesitate to hire him again in future. 10/10 recommend.”

“Hong was absolutely fantastic! The best sitter I’ve worked with by far. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Hong took incredible care of my two cats, following all instructions perfectly and providing thoughtful updates while I was away. One of my cats is usually quite shy, but he warmed up to Hong right away - a true testament to Hong’s patience and kindness. Not only did he ensure my cats were happy and well cared for, but he also treated my home with the utmost respect. I returned to a pristine space, which was such a wonderful bonus. His attention to detail, reliability, and genuine love for animals make him an outstanding sitter. I will definitely be booking with him again! Thank you, Hong!”

“Thank you for being so wonderful as always with Oswald. He adores you and Daphne loves a little affection too. Appreciate the updates and keeping me in mind while I was doing a day trip for work. 10/10 recommend :)”

“Isobel was lovely and took really great care of our dog for the day. My dog can be anxious and reactive and Isobel knew how to manage her in a way that felt comfortable and safe. My dog seemed to love her and felt so calm around her. Isobel also made sure to keep us calm and sent cute pictures 😊 This dog sitting turn out to be much less convenient for Isobel than intended, and I know she went through a lot of trouble to keep the booking and not cancel on us. This really shows how reliable she is and we appreciate it! Thank you so much! Would definitely book again.”

“We were so happy to have Shiva watch Penny while we were away! Definitely helped to know that she was in good hands and we loved getting the videos and photos so that we could see that Penny was happy and relaxed!”

“Jacqueline was the most wonderful dog /house sitter. The dog was happy and had obviously had a super weekend with more attention than she could have imagined. I knew as soon as I met Jacqueline that she was going to be perfect for the job, and she was! Reliable, trustworthy, accommodating, kind, thoughtful, accepting of dog-quirks, and all around peace of mind- I never worried one time while I was away. A million thankyous!”

About: Animals have always been a central part of my life. Growing up on a farm, I developed a deep understanding of the care, responsibility, and patience required to look after a wide variety of animals. Today, I continue that lifelong commitment as the owner of a five-year-old medium-sized dog. My lifelong experience has given me a genuine appreciation for animal welfare, strong observational skills, and the ability to build trust with pets of different temperaments. This personal connection allows me to provide compassionate, attentive care while understanding that every animal deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and kindness. Pet care fits easily into my routine because I'm currently taking some time off work and have a very open schedule. I'm available on both weekdays and weekends and can accommodate a variety of pet care needs. Whether you're looking for short-term care, long-term care, or flexible scheduling, I'm happy to provide reliable, attentive care that works around your pet's routine. I provide care for pets in their own home, where they can stay comfortable and maintain their regular routine. I carefully follow all instructions you leave regarding feeding, exercise, medications, and any special needs to ensure your pet receives the best possible care. I treat every pet as if they were my own, giving them plenty of love, attention, patience, and companionship while you're away, so you can have peace of mind knowing they're in caring hands.
“June kelp our cat Lelo very happy while we were away and was very sweet to work with. I really enjoyed the pictures she sent and updates on her getting to know our cat. I would recommend June to my friends, she was wonderful.”

“Kelsey is the best!! My pup was so well taken care of and Kelsey gave amazing check-ins everyday. I came home and Lilah didn’t want to see her go. Highly recommend! THANK YOU KELSEY!”

“Haley recently stayed at our place for a few days and cared for our dog. Haley was sweet, accommodating and very trusting. She met our dog with a calm and friendly energy that matched the dog completely. This was so nice to see because our pup sometimes doesn’t trust strangers but I could tell she was in good hands. Haley obviously adores animals. I really appreciated the pic updates and a detailed log of everything they did together. It sounded like our pup had a great time while we were away, which is the best we could hope for. Our girl got plenty of walks and energy burning exercise and was happy when we got home but clearly had a lot of attention. Thanks again Haley! Great job!”

About: My previous room-mate was a veterinary technician, and I frequently watched and walked her animals while she was away. I’ve been around and loved animals my whole life and am very comfortable around them. I often watch and walk friends dogs! My life doesn’t allow me to have a dog of my own currently, and it brings me great joy to help out in this way! I am looking for longer stays (2-3 days or more). I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule if notice is given. I will be commuting from out of town. :) I love spending time with animals, including getting them out of the house on adventures, to new parks for them to experiance new and interesting environments, or taking them to parks they are comfortable with and love. I also love spending time with them in the home, while giving them lots of time and attention!

Toby was absolutely incredible! We booked her for our wedding and was very attentive all day, she even brought him out during the ceremony so that our dog could participate in our ceremony. All of our guests loved Toby and were raving about her. We would book her again in a heartbeat!

Hilary was fantastic with looking after my furry beasts and sent lots of great photos. They didn't miss me at all! She was very respectful of my place and when I arrived home late at night everything was clean and tidy. Very grateful that she also accommodated a last minute change to pet sitting dates. Can't say enough great things.

We had a great experience with Averi while she cared for Olive for three days. She was reliable, always on time, and kept consistent contact with us throughout. We really appreciate the frequent updates, including lots of photos and she kept our place super clean, which was amazing and Olive got plenty of walks and attention. It was clear she was well cared for we would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter.

Krisztina was amazing with my two cats. She was there within 15m after I requested a super last minute appointment. I have a kitten with a bottomless pit of energy and she handled it flawlessly! She even played with her so much she took a nap!! She was attentive to all of my instructions and even stayed late after I got stuck in traffic!

Mikayla was a great sitter for our dog Lilly. It was the first time we used Rover and it was a great experience. She took great care of our home and Lilly. We will hopefully have her sit for us again in the future and would highly recommend her to anyone needing a great person to watch their fur baby.

From start to finish, Carrie-Ann was a complete professional. Asking all the important questions that were needed to get to know my little Luna. Every single day I received many photos of Luna , which made me feel at ease, knowing she was well taken care of. Absolutely 110% will be booking Carrie-Ann again in the future. Hands down, Luna had the best time with her. :)

Baran is an amazing dog sitter! She’s my top choice when looking for someone to come stay with my dog while i’m away. She send pictures, videos, and updates all day, follows all instructions left for her, and really connects with and cares for my dog. My dog loves her and i know i never have to worry about her when Baran is watching her! 10/10 recommend(:

Karina and Matt were incredible dog/house sitters. It's the first time we've used a service like Rover to book a dog sitter, and we were a tad nervous about the process, but the meet-and-greet with Karina and Matt put us at ease. They answered all our questions, were really communicative and punctual. While we were away, they sent us updates on our dog, and they took really great care of our home. As happy as our dog was to see us when we got home, I think she also misses her new friends! I would highly recommend Karina to anyone looking for someone to care for their dog.

We booked Samantha when we had to go away for a few days to stay at our house to look after our Rotti and rescue staffy. She was willing to come and do 2 home visits before to make sure the dogs and us were comfortable. The dogs were happy and safe while we were gone and will book her for sure the next time we need to go away!

This was the 2nd time Megan watched Finley and we were super happy with her stay and trust her watching our pup! She was timely and provided updates that we absolutely loved! Finley was so excited to see and hangout with her again. She also was able to accommodate super last minute which we are grateful for. Would love Megan to watch Finley again anytime and recommend her to others!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Port Moody maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Port Moody walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Port Moody choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
