“Tanya is an incredible sitter, not only is she great with sending updates and pictures, but every time we come back our pets are very happy and healthy, you can tell she treats them both with love and extreme kindness. She goes the extra mile and even was kind enough to clean our house at the end of the stay. Will always highly recommend her and Vamsi!”

“Ema and Cindy exceeded all expectations and helped us out with dog sitting, when our other sitter had to cancel at the last minute. Our dog doesn’t seem to like everyone, but she really liked them! They are super friendly, caring, and left our home very clean and tidy. Communication and pictures were sent frequently. Thank you for taking such good care of Kala and taking the stress away, so we could enjoy our trip!”

“Dmytro was amazing with my anxious dog. It was sweet seeing them getting closer on the photos. The house was as clean as I left it. We would definitely book him again. I highly recommend him to anyone with anxious pets. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Debbie took such great care of our anxious little spaniel, and totally won him over too. She sent us great detailed updates with photos each day, and it was clear how much care and attention she paid to him while we were gone. She handled giving him medications and 4 walks a day, and was able to be with him the whole time. It was nerve-racking setting our dog up with a stranger for the first time, but it's clear Debbie adores animals. We're so glad we picked her! She also left our apartment so clean and even did laundry and made the bed, which was totally unexpected and lovely of her. We would totally book Debbie again!”

“I rebooked Yihan for in house cat sitting for 10 days while I was gone on a trip. She took great care of my two cats, sent pictures most days and was very responsive while I was gone. I would recommend Yihan to anyone looking for cat sitting services!”

“Diana looked after our house and our cats while we were away for nearing 3 weeks overseas. She made us feel so at ease that our cats were well looked after. When we returned, the cats looked super happy, very healthy and the house was so neat and tidy. We will be using Diana lots in the future! 😊”

About: I’ve spent many years working in animal care, starting as a kennel assistant and eventually managing a busy daycare and boarding facility in Saskatchewan. After that, I moved to working as a receptionist/attendant at a veterinary clinic, where I gained valuable knowledge about the medical side of caring for animals. Since moving to Vancouver, I’ve had the chance to work in a bustling urban doggie daycare, giving me hands on experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. With over 8 years across kennels, clinics, and daycares, I bring both knowledge and genuine care to every pet I look after. I moved to Vancouver from Saskatchewan over 2 years ago. I am currently a student studying ASL -English Interpreting. I also love staying active with long walks or runs while I train for another marathon! As a dog parent, I make sure to care for all pets in the same way I would want my pups to be treated. I understand the worry of wanting to make sure your animals are getting the best care possible and I want all owners to be confident in being able to leave their pet with someone they can trust.
“She waa punctual, kind and promt in helping us out at the last minute. She administered Leo's medicine and gave him cuddles. I recommend her to anyone looking fof house sitting.”

“Breanna was great. She asked lots of good questions to better understand our styles and our dog dog's styles. Overall very conscious and thoughtful. Our Boxer (Mustard) got along well with Breanna. Would use Breanna again.”

“Cara is amazing!!! I feel very confident that our dogs had five star care while we were out of the country for two weeks. Cara gave regular updates with photos and videos and went over and above with training and grooming sessions. I really appreciated the care that she gave them, I feel like she loved them like they were her own pups - I know they would both be very happy for us to go away again and have Cara look after them.”

“We had a fantastic first experience using Rover! We were fortunate that Angelina was available to us on short notice. She was took wonderful care of our dogs and was incredibly communicative. She kept us updated with photos throughout the stay, which gave us such peace of mind. Our older dog has anxiety issues and Angelina was patient and calm with her and both dogs seem to take to her right away. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again!”

“Michael was great. Leo got along with him the moment they met. He was very comfortable with Leo, prompt, followed his schedule and gave him cuddles. We came home to a happy baby. I would certainly recommend him for home sitting.”

“I can’t speak well enough of this awesome human. The dogs LOVE her. She takes such great care of our puppers, awesome with updates and photos. We have a rescue Pyrenees with some lingering issues and she is so good with him. We came home to find the dogs in their sulking spots pinning over Jaqueline. Can’t recommend her enough”

“Wonderful experience! This was both of our dogs first time with someone on Rover and we had a lovely experience. They were so comfortable with Stephanie and we couldn’t be more happy and relieved that she was with our dogs”

“We were so happy to have Shiva watch Penny while we were away! Definitely helped to know that she was in good hands and we loved getting the videos and photos so that we could see that Penny was happy and relaxed!”

“Riley was a fantastic dog sitter who cared for our two Pomeranians while we were away for 8 days. Having our dogs stay in their home environment was important to us as they probably would have been stressed in a kennel. Riley followed all of the dogs care, routine, feeding and walking instructions we provided. Communication was easy and prompt with daily pictures sent to us. This was the first time our dogs were left with someone other than family and Riley was careful to slowly introduce herself and waited until they were ready to greet her. Our house was left in a tidy, clean condition and more importantly our dogs were happy and well cared for. We would recommend Riley wholeheartedly to any person looking for care for their fur babies.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Burnaby
What a wonderful experience. I was so nervous leaving my cats for the first time without a family member and Angela was exceptional. So many photos and communication of how the kitties were doing. Just lots of care and attention. It put me at ease and the cats were so relaxed when I got home. Thank you so much. What a positive experience.

Xiaotao was prompt and attentive. She asked all the necessary questions and was available on a short notice. She followed Leo's schedule, gave him his medicines and also took him for his walk. She is kind and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet-sitter.

Alisha took great care of our anxious cockapoo and our home. I was nervous leaving Beau for a 12 day trip but Alisha made sure he was comfortable and loved and kept a regular routine that really helped him stay calm. She was very diligent with updates and she left our home sparkling. We will definitely hire Alisha again!

Brianna did an amazing job with our very new rescue pup and grouchy senior cat, it is a lot of work for one person and we came home to happy and healthy pets. She was super accommodating and helped us have a great vacation knowing the zoo back home was being well taken care of.

Spoorthi is an amazing sitter! My cat is shy and always uncomfortable with strangers. With Spoorthi, he warmed up quickly and was very happy. He is also a very high maintenance cat and spoorthi followed all care instructions with great attention to detail. She also promptly sent pictures with updates regularly. Needless to say, I was at peace during my vacation. I would highly recommend her for pet sitting.

Thank you Sabine for a great visit. Appreciate your timeliness, cleanliness, attention to detail. We felt confident you were looking after our home and two dogs well. Thank you for being communicative with us about the dogs- the daily pictures were appreciated. We arrived home just the way we left it- Cooper and Murphy were in great shape.
I honestly couldn't be more grateful for Jacqueline's approach to house sitting. She was very professional: she was quick to respond to any communications and seemed genuinely determined to ensure that we would be satisfied with the experience from start to finish. But she was also friendly and and easy going- amenable to the quirks of our house and generous in arranging her arrival and departure around our schedule. While we were away she sent video and photo updates, allowing me to completely relax and not worry about the pets or the house, which was a first. And when we returned the house was spotless and I mean SPOTLESS. We found ourselves wandering around trying to find evidence that she was here because it was so clean. This was my first experience hiring someone that I didn't already know to house-sit, and I was a little nervous. But she put me completely at ease during our first meeting, and delivered far more than I expected during her stay. I would recommend Jacqueline to anyone.

Amani did an excellent job of looking after Bella .She communicated often with me letting me know how things were going, I could tell from the photos that Bella was comfortable with her. She found interesting things to do with Bella like going to the local pet store to see Santa! I would definitely use Amani again,

Ruby was house sitting our cat Benji for a week. She sent daily updates and did a great job making sure Benji’s regular feeding schedule was being maintained. She also took Benji on his daily walks outside which we were thrilled with as Benji goes out on a leash only and is very used to his outdoor time.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Burnaby on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,193 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Burnaby. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Burnaby maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Burnaby walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Burnaby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
