“If you're thinking about leaving your pet with someone, consider Tanya! From the first time she met me and my fur boy, I knew she would be a great fit for taking care of him while I went on vacation. She obviously loves animals, and Atticus was at ease and playing with her as soon as she got here. She kept me updated on him with lots of messages and pictures, which showed just how happy and comfortable he was with her (cue many pics of them cuddling together). When I got home, my place was spotless, the towels and sheets had been washed and placed back on the bed, and I swear the place was cleaner than how I'd left it! I would highly recommend her for home stays and dog walking - she will love your fur babies like her own!”

“Ema and Cindy took such good care of our dog while we were away for two weeks. They have us photo updates and were very thoughtful and caring. Very happy with our first rover experience and with Ema and Cindy looking after our puppy!”

About: 🐶🐾$20 off promo code of your first booking: EMILYC35575 ⭐️August promotion: $17/walk⭐️ Hello I’m Emily! I have been a passionate dog lover my entire life and personally raised my own Maltipoo for 6 years in Korea. I have been living in Canada for 2 years now, and because I am away from my beloved dog back home, I miss her terribly every single day. I want to channel all that longing, love, and affection into caring for the wonderful dogs here in Canada. Back in Korea, I made it a strict rule to take my dog out for walks every single day without fail, ensuring she always received abundant exercise, attention, and love. Beyond my own pet, I have extensive experience pet-sitting for my friends' dogs on multiple occasions. Whether it was for a short weekend or a longer stay, I provided dedicated, heartfelt care that left both the dogs incredibly happy and their owners completely satisfied and at peace. Over the past 2 years in Canada, I have also gained practical experience walking various breeds, including a high-energy Dalmatian mix and a Jindo mix. I genuinely enjoy discovering each dog's unique personality and have a natural knack for making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved around me. I promise to treat your furry family member with the exact same devotion and deep responsibility that I give to my own. I’m currently between jobs, so I have a flexible schedule and can be available for walks and pet care throughout the week. My availability may change slightly each week, but I would be happy to coordinate schedules in advance. Please feel free to contact me beforehand, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs. I’m great at playing with dogs using toys, and I’m confident I can take them for walks or play fetch outside. I can also train them, like bell training or teaching them to lie down. I have trained my own dog before.
“Leila was amazing, Gemma has separation anxiety but Leila ensured to take care of her and played with her constantly , Gemma loved her and was calm during my absence , I really will use Leila for all my future travels, Leila thank you.”

“Lynne was wonderful watching Murphy during our long stay in Italy. She gave us full confidence in the care he received, sending many photos and taking him out to parks for the exercise and stimulation he needed. We’re so grateful for the love and attention she gave him!”

“Cara has become part of our family. She loves our babies and keeps them safe and happy when we travel. Cara has a wonderful connection with animals and any pet parent wishing to travel without their precious babies, would be very lucky to hire her.”

About: I love being a pet sitter because it allows me to do something I truly care about — spending time with animals and making them feel loved, safe, and comfortable. I enjoy playing with pets, feeding them, taking them for walks, and giving them the attention and care they need. If your dog loves socializing with other dogs, I’d be happy to take them to the dog park (if that’s something you’re comfortable with). I’m also happy to accommodate any special routines, hobbies, or needs your pet may have. I have my own dog, Teddy, whom I love more than words can describe. He is a very special part of my family and has taught me so much about patience, love, and caring for animals. Being around dogs brings me so much happiness, positive energy, and peace. I’m also working toward becoming a professional dog groomer because I want to continue learning and improving my skills in animal care. I treat every pet like they are my own family, and my goal is for your furry friend to feel loved, happy, and secure while they are with me. Your pet’s comfort and happiness are my top priorities, and I can’t wait to create a fun and loving experience for them! Every Friday and Saturday I am free for now and I’ve tried to make more time to do this lovely job it will be happening soon. I just want to start with walking with these angels ( dogs ) but absolutely I can care of them on my clients home sometimes.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Burnaby
Lauren and Keja were very easy to communicate with and responded promptly. Keja stayed with our two cats, was prepared during the meet and greet with questions and confirming our expectations about communication during the trip. The boys did great and we would book again in the future.

Blake was awesome with my senior boy. He sent pictures daily with updates, was quick to reply to messages and my place was left perfectly neat and tidy. He really made my vacation much more enjoyable knowing my Murphy was well looked after. Thank you again Blake!!

Debbie is a pro at the pet care game. She asked all the right questions and looked after our three cats over two days. The house was as clean as we left it. She even washed and changed our bedding so it was ready for us when we arrived home - a very thoughtful gesture. She sent us lots of photos and updated us each evening.

What a wonderful experience. I was so nervous leaving my cats for the first time without a family member and Angela was exceptional. So many photos and communication of how the kitties were doing. Just lots of care and attention. It put me at ease and the cats were so relaxed when I got home. Thank you so much. What a positive experience.

Xiaotao was prompt and attentive. She asked all the necessary questions and was available on a short notice. She followed Leo's schedule, gave him his medicines and also took him for his walk. She is kind and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet-sitter.

Alisha took great care of our anxious cockapoo and our home. I was nervous leaving Beau for a 12 day trip but Alisha made sure he was comfortable and loved and kept a regular routine that really helped him stay calm. She was very diligent with updates and she left our home sparkling. We will definitely hire Alisha again!

Spoorthi is an amazing sitter! My cat is shy and always uncomfortable with strangers. With Spoorthi, he warmed up quickly and was very happy. He is also a very high maintenance cat and spoorthi followed all care instructions with great attention to detail. She also promptly sent pictures with updates regularly. Needless to say, I was at peace during my vacation. I would highly recommend her for pet sitting.

Thank you Sabine for a great visit. Appreciate your timeliness, cleanliness, attention to detail. We felt confident you were looking after our home and two dogs well. Thank you for being communicative with us about the dogs- the daily pictures were appreciated. We arrived home just the way we left it- Cooper and Murphy were in great shape.
I honestly couldn't be more grateful for Jacqueline's approach to house sitting. She was very professional: she was quick to respond to any communications and seemed genuinely determined to ensure that we would be satisfied with the experience from start to finish. But she was also friendly and and easy going- amenable to the quirks of our house and generous in arranging her arrival and departure around our schedule. While we were away she sent video and photo updates, allowing me to completely relax and not worry about the pets or the house, which was a first. And when we returned the house was spotless and I mean SPOTLESS. We found ourselves wandering around trying to find evidence that she was here because it was so clean. This was my first experience hiring someone that I didn't already know to house-sit, and I was a little nervous. But she put me completely at ease during our first meeting, and delivered far more than I expected during her stay. I would recommend Jacqueline to anyone.

Amani did an excellent job of looking after Bella .She communicated often with me letting me know how things were going, I could tell from the photos that Bella was comfortable with her. She found interesting things to do with Bella like going to the local pet store to see Santa! I would definitely use Amani again,

Ruby was house sitting our cat Benji for a week. She sent daily updates and did a great job making sure Benji’s regular feeding schedule was being maintained. She also took Benji on his daily walks outside which we were thrilled with as Benji goes out on a leash only and is very used to his outdoor time.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Burnaby maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Burnaby walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Burnaby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
