About: I’ve taken care of dogs ever since I was 7 years old! I’ve helped walk, feed, bathe, play with, and care for the pets of not only my cousins and friends, but also multiple people in my community. I have experience working with puppies as well as caring for senior pets. I’ve always loved animals and truly enjoy spending as much time with them as I can. I’m currently working part time, so I have plenty of time for pet care! I am available after 5:30 pm on days that I work, which is about 3 times a week. I always have Mondays off and frequently have Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays completely free. I have experience working with pets of all temperaments and have learned well how to read their body language. I am committed to making sure that pets feel comfortable around me and understanding what they want, whether that’s attention, play, pets, or space.
“Ebony is just a godsent! 13/10! Our daughter was getting married, away, on a cruise. Our dog and cat had never been left without us ever (our cat is 20+ years!). I was so trepidatious about leaving them "alone" that I almost did not go to be with our daughter at our wedding. Ebony was an absolute 13/10! Our dog and ancient cat had special needs. Ebony attended to all of them, including all their ridiculous medication schedules. Then our dog had a flare-up with an allergy. Ebony immediately texted although there was patchy internet for us, an we solved the problem together. In summary: Ebony is very attuned to animals (and cats are weird, let's be honest), is full of love, very attentive to their routines and needs, and is all-around a kind, smart, reliable and loveable human being. 15/10 for Ebony in all regards!”

“Stacie went above and beyond with her cat sitting services. She always sent daily updates with both pictures and videos. For us, she came twice a day. It was an absolute treat to wake up to these messages everyday we were away. In fact, we felt so comfortable, we never even checked our pet cams. Food was done 100% like we do it (using a scale and all), litter and surrounding area was always pictured fresh, and the water was never overflowing/dry. Our cats were living their best lives with Stacie, and the only worry we ever had was that the cats would miss her more than they’d miss us! Safe to say that we will definitely be using her services again 😌”

“Tiana was absolutely amazing. The minute we met her we knew our fur-babies would be in excellent hands! Even our kitty who doesn’t warm up quickly, was found sitting on Tiana’s lap purring away. This was the first time, our fur-babies were left alone, so we were a bit nervous, but Tiana kept us so at ease. She updated us everyday with little messages and amazing pictures. Our pup has been moping around the house since she has left. He is wondering where his new favorite human has gone! Our house was left cleaner then we left it! Omigod thank you! We highly recommend Tiana and would book her again in an instant! Your babies are so well looked after ❤️”

About: I've been a dog lover my entire life and had the privilege of raising my own dog from puppyhood until he was 14 years old. Throughout his life, I was actively involved in every aspect of his care, including feeding, training, daily walks, playtime, grooming, and providing extra care as he became a senior. In addition to caring for my own dog, I've looked after friends' and family members’ dogs in my home. I made sure they stayed on their normal routines by providing meals and medications on time, regular walks, plenty of exercise, and lots of love and attention. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, and I take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and happy while in my care. I work during the day, so I'm currently available for dog walking and pet care on weekday evenings and weekends. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and miss having a furry companion in my life. I look forward to using my free time to help keep pets active, happy, and well cared for. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always prioritize their safety and well-being. I carefully follow each owner's instructions regarding feeding schedules, medications, exercise needs, and any special routines. When caring for pets in a client's home, I make sure they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while maintaining their normal routine to help them feel comfortable and secure. I believe in clear communication and will keep owners updated so they can feel confident that their pet is receiving attentive and loving care.
“What a great experience having Yue cat sit for me. I got so many great photos from him and humorous insights in their days. When I came home the place was beautifully clean and the cats were relaxed and constant. I can’t figure out how to post photos - I’d love to share the video if Yue walking through the neighbourhood meowing, which is one way I call my cats! What commitment to the job!”

About: I am an animal lover and have had a family dog my entire life. Currently I have an energetic 12 year old Portuguese Waterdog that I love to spend time with and go on daily walks with. I have plenty of experience with many types of dogs as I frequently have family friends pets stay at my home where I take care of them for many days at a time. I am very active and confident in my ability to ensure your dog will have their activity and energy needs met during drop ins or walks! I am a very accessible university student taking online classes. Given the flexibility of my courses, I am available every day of the week, specifically: Monday-Sunday: 9am-10pm I have a large fenced backyard with plenty of grass. I have a 12 year old portuguese waterdog who is very friendly and loves the company of other dogs.
“We had such a great experience! Margy took wonderful care of our beagle guy, even took him for a long walk, sent videos and updates, and brought along a sniffing mat to keep my baby doggo entertained. You can really tell she loves dogs! Highly recommend!”

About: I have taken care of my very close friends and family dogs many times and enjoy it. I have dogs myself and have always loved dogs! I am a hockey player in training normally pretty available for scheduling during the day. The only times I am busy are morning from 7 am to 11am I have watched my friends dogs many times and have dogs myself I know what to do in most situations and trying to either calm them down or play with them!
“Thank you Alex so much for taking care of our cats while we were out of town! Alex was very sweet and patient with our cats, letting them warm up to him and eventually becoming good pals! We also asked Alex to go feed our fish and water our plants which he was happy to do! He was always responsive when I reached out! Thank you again Alex!”

About: Hi! I’m Kayla, I’ve cared for dogs and cats of all ages, personalities, and needs, and I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets while you’re gone. I recently moved to the Vancouver area and have a flexible schedule allowing me to provide walks, drop in visits, or pet sitting. I’m happy to follow your pet’s routine exactly including medications, feeding schedules, exercise, and any special instructions. Additionally, I live at home with my boyfriend who will often accompany me walking dogs and will of course be there during boarding (so between the two of us your pet is getting lots of love and attention!!) I have flexible availability daily for drop in visits, walks, and pet sitting. We can discuss your routine and I'm sure I can make it work. Pets are welcome in my home for short term stays. I do not have a yard so dogs will be taken on walks (on leash). If I am familiar with your dog and they are well trained for off leash, I'm happy to take them to a dog park for additional play and exercise.
“This was my first time using Rover.com and I was fortunate to come across Rachel. I was impressed from the moment of our meet and greet right to the end when I returned from my trip. My dog Tessa clearly liked Rachel, and I liked the way Rachel asked questions about Tessa's routine, what toys and games she liked, etc. and she made notes about it all. When I said I had to leave really early for the airport, Rachel told me not to worry about changing the bed but to leave it for her - that was a real bonus not to have to rush to get that done. I was away for 12 days and was very happy to get almost daily photos and videos of Tessa - I felt very reassured that all was well and Tessa was enjoying her time with Rachel. I came home to a happy and healthy dog, and a house that was spotlessly clean - cleaner than I had left it - and to a bed with freshly laundered sheets I definitely recommend Rachel and am hoping she will be available next time I take a trip.”

About: We are Animal Lovers that will make your pet feel like part of our family. We have so many repeat furry friends who get super excited to be back. We also always look forward to meeting new friends... Your pet will never be left by themselves and will have lots of attention. We don't have pets of our own as we travel, when we pet sit they are our focus and how we get our pet fix. We care for pets by creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment while following each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. During house sitting, we ensure pets feel secure in their own home while maintaining cleanliness, supervision, feeding schedules, exercise, and companionship. For dog walks, we prioritize leash safety, awareness of surroundings, hydration when needed, and positive interactions during exercise. During drop in visits, provide feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, playtime, litter box or cleanup duties, and check on the pet’s overall well being. Treating every home with respect, follow all client instructions carefully, and make safety, trust, and the pet’s comfort my top priorities at all times.
“Thank you Mariia for looking after Daphne and Oswald. They always love seeing you and you are a wonderful sitter - clean, tidy, respectful of our home. Appreciate your responsiveness and the very cute photos you took!”

“Breanna was great. She asked lots of good questions to better understand our styles and our dog dog's styles. Overall very conscious and thoughtful. Our Boxer (Mustard) got along well with Breanna. Would use Breanna again.”

About: I am an animal lover and would be happy to take your dog for an awesome walk! I have experience volunteering and working in animal shelters and have been around animals most of my life. I currently work at the BC SPCA as a dog care attendant and have experience working with dogs with diverse medical and behavioural needs. I have worked as a research project assistant at UBC recording data regarding dogs’ behaviours while interacting with potential adopters. I learned a lot about different behaviours that dogs have and what they mean in connection to the dogs attitude. I love animals and am hoping for a career in animal welfare in the future. I also love to be outside and go for lots of walks/hikes and would be happy to be accompanied by a furry friend and would make sure to take the best care I possibly can of your pets! I work full time Sunday to Thursdays. I am available every Friday and Saturday for walks or to pop in to take your furry friends out for bathroom breaks or for a mid day meal. I am also available every evening during the week. I am happy to follow whatever routine you have set for your dog, whether you are crate training, just need someone to keep them company or to go for a longer walk or play time outside.

Seeing how excited Murphy is whenever he sees Tova truly warms my heart. She is an excellent communicator, incredibly trustworthy, and took wonderful care of him while staying in our home for two nights. Knowing Murphy was in such good hands gave me complete peace of mind.

Yue is great! He is incredibly kind and communicative. He updated us regularly throughout the weekend and asked questions if there was any uncertainty. He’s a stellar person with a big heart. Pip was in good hands! I’d highly recommend him to anyone and will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much, Yue!

Carlett did a fabulous job taking care of our two dogs, one who had serious health issues. She was responsive and got back to us quickly. I highly recommend her as a responsible caring sitter. This is her second time with us and we wouldn’t hesitate to call on her again in the future.

This was our first time using Rover. When we first met Susanne she showed a genuine interest in our nervous, senior cat. While we were away, she gave us constant updates and pictures and even checked to make sure we were going to be home on time so our cat didn’t go without dinner. We came home to a happy relaxed cat which made us know she is an experienced and caring cat sitter and we will be using Susanne again.

It was evident at our first meeting that Julia is a caring, responsible person. Our dog took to her immediately. Julia house-sat in our home for 4 days and it was spotless when we returned. She sent us pictures regularly. Our mature lab has high separation anxiety and it was evident in the first picture. But then more picture came..belly rubs, walks, cuddles, more cuddles. It was reassuring to know that while we were away our baby was being cared for by an empathetic, caring person. We would not hesitate to call upon Julia again.

Thank you Tiana, you were amazing and our girl loved you. We especially appreciated the meet and greet prior to you dog sitting. I was a little nervous asking someone to sit our crazy 6 month old puppy, but you knew actually what to do. She loved all the play and cuddle time and we loved all the photos you sent us while you were with her. Can’t wait to have you back soon!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Richmond on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 3,162 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Richmond. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Richmond maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Richmond walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Richmond choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
