We loved having Farren watch our pup. She is great with dogs and made our anxious pup feel right at home. We really appreciated the updates she sent throughout the sit and the extra things she did to make our pup’s day feel as normal as possible. We will definitely be having Farren back!

Pegah came to look after our two dogs.... a young Bernadoodle and an older Cairn Terrier. She was great with the dogs and they seemed to like her too! It was only a one night but Pegah made a good impression, and she seemed very reliable and respectful. I wouldn't hesitate to have her back again.

Hong Yu was phenomenal! This was my first time leaving my cat alone for 3 nights and I was really anxious. My cat felt at ease with Hong and they quickly bonded. He sent me photos regularly and this made me truly relaxed, allowing me to enjoy my vacation. I recommend Hong to everyone, his presence alone is the deal changer.

Liz's communication from the time of booking to the actual time of pet sitting, to the end of the sitting was incredible and timely, and she also sent photographs of Beans during the dog sitting. I would recommend Liz to anyone as she is an incredible pet sitter.

About: Been in the veterinary industry since 2015. Was in wildlife refuge before that. Graduated from the Thompson Rivers University's Animal Health Technology program where we learned extensively of animal care and behaviour. I have a sassy seven year old domestic shorthair which I love dearly. I will not be available between 9am - 8pm due to being a veterinary technician at various vet hospitals. However I can manage my time well before and after those times for dog walking and possibly sitting as well. I am well versed in the calm and playful care of cats and dogs from my 10 + experience in the veterinary industry. This program allows us to interact with various canines and felines in a daily basis.

The most mindful, polite and truly loving pet-sitter I have ever come across. If Rover's sitters were even half as considerate, mindful and compassionate as Nasrin, the world would be a much better place. She truly has a connection with all animals, and animals with her. I would hire her million times. Highly recommended.

About: I had my first puppy when I was 8 and become a true dog lover ever since. I had three dogs and two cats of my own and helped babysit my friends ‘ pets from time to time. I used to work in the Big 4 firms and had really tight work schedules so I understand how important to find someone trustworthy to take care of our pets. I’m available for evening walks, and I can usually dedicate one full day each week to house sitting, typically on Fridays. My schedule is fairly flexible, and house-sitting days can usually be arranged with at least three days’ notice. Unfortunately , I don’t own my apartment so I can’t care for pets in my home. I can provide visit to your home if needed.

About: Dogs have always been a part of my life. From fostering dogs in need, raising and training my own puppies to rescuing and adopting companions while providing patience, calming reassurance and dependable care in a peaceful and loving home. I am currently working part time, and pet care is already part of my lifestyle. I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and making sure they receive the care, exercise and companionship they deserve. I strongly believe that all animals should be cared for both physically and emotionally at home. What I do to meet their needs in my home: * Providing fresh water at all times and making sure they are fed healthy meals that coincide with weight, age, and food intolerances. * Encourage 15 minute training sessions (involves delicious treats) 1-2x a day for mental stimulation and consistency. * Puppy proofed. I have created a safe space where dogs are free to roam. No access to toxic plants, sniffing out cleaning products, chewing on electrical cords, and/or small objects they could swallow. * Big, comfy beds and/or couches for a place to rest, where they can feel secure. * Maintaining a routine for meals, playtime, walks, potty breaks, and bedtime. Dogs thrive on routine! * Toys, toys toys! Puzzle feeders, sniffing games, and interactive play. * Groom regularly by brushing their coat, trimming nails, cleaning ears when needed, and brushing their teeth. * Using positive reinforcement when redirecting and correcting. I reward good behaviour with yummy treats, praise, belly rubs and/or play time instead of punishing mistakes. * Socialize appropriately with people, other dogs, and new environments to build confidence and good manners. * Monitor their health for changes in appetite, energy, drinking, bathroom habits, and/or behaviour. * Give them attention and affection. Dogs are social animals and need companionship, interaction, and love to thrive. * Respect their individual needs. Every dog has a unique personality, energy level, and comfort zone. I have a fenced yard and a dog park across from my house. Your dog will always have a furry friend to play with or if they prefer alone time, that’s fine too :) I also make my own dog and bake homemade dogs treats as well. So, if your pup is on a strict diet or is on medication- I’m no stranger to feeding them healthy and nutritious meals and/or administering their medications.

FAQs for House Sitting - Ladner

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ladner on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 3,043 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ladner. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ladner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ladner walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ladner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
