“Iris is absolutely FANTASTIC. Took such good care of our yellow lab Beau. Spoiled him with lots of beach walks, cuddles and playing in the yard. Iris sent us lots of pictures and updates and made us feel so comfortable. I cannot recommend Iris enough and will definitely be asking Iris back for our next vacation.”

“Farren watched our home and fur babies while we were out of town for 4 days. Our staffy (Bentley) behaves like a overly friendly Tasmanian devil and can be very overwhelming and our Chihuahua (Chi) is afraid of everything and everyone. I was able to book a couple dog walks in so they could all hangout a few times before we left. Farren was so patient with Chi and not at all fazed by Bentleys crazy. While we were away, she took them on walks, and send lots of pictures of the three of them snuggled on the couch (the dog that is afraid of everyone is snuggled on the couch?!). Our dogs were so well taken care of, I really can’t recommend her enough. My holidays will for now on be booked around Farren’s availability. Thank you Farren!”

“I’m so thankful for Nasrin! I had an unfortunate events come up and she was able to housesit buddy at last minute notice! Over the long weekend, she kept me updated and was always quick to reply. Buddy was so happy playing with Nasrin. Super friendly, super professional. 10/10”

“Chris was so professional and amazing with our cat. He followed all our instructions, communicated frequently and shared some great photos of her having a great time! He went above and beyond and vacuumed the litter area for us as well.”

“We had such a great experience with Narjis caring for our 7 year old Airedale Terrier. We came home to a very happy, well cared for dog and we were able to relax on our vacation as she provided regular updates and photos. Highly recommend Narjis - very dependable and trust worthy and great with dogs.”
“Leila was amazing, Gemma has separation anxiety but Leila ensured to take care of her and played with her constantly , Gemma loved her and was calm during my absence , I really will use Leila for all my future travels, Leila thank you.”

About: Animals have always been a central part of my life. Growing up on a farm, I developed a deep understanding of the care, responsibility, and patience required to look after a wide variety of animals. Throughout my childhood, I was surrounded by dogs and cats, giving me hands-on experience with their unique personalities, needs, and behaviours. Today, I continue that lifelong commitment as the owner of a five-year-old medium-sized dog. My lifelong experience has given me a genuine appreciation for animal welfare, strong observational skills, and the ability to build trust with pets of different temperaments. This personal connection allows me to provide compassionate, attentive care while understanding that every animal deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and kindness. Pet care fits easily into my routine because I'm currently taking some time off work and have a very open schedule. I'm available on both weekdays and weekends and can accommodate a variety of pet care needs. Whether you're looking for short-term care, long-term care, or flexible scheduling, I'm happy to provide reliable, attentive care that works around your pet's routine. I provide care for pets in their own home, where they can stay comfortable and maintain their regular routine. I carefully follow all instructions you leave regarding feeding, exercise, medications, and any special needs to ensure your pet receives the best possible care. I treat every pet as if they were my own, giving them plenty of love, attention, patience, and companionship while you're away, so you can have peace of mind knowing they're in caring hands.
“Samia was great! She watched our dog after a last minute appt in our home with Gizmo, she was attentive, even noticed he had redness on his paw and scheduled a vet appt. Gizmo loved hanging out with her we appreciate the last minute schedule and how kind she was.”

“Our Hugo was well taken care of by Mariia and Vini! Hugo had some problems with his paws and Vini & Mariia communicated promptly and regularly with us to find a solution. They gave him lots of walks and TLC. We found Vini and Mariia through a friend’s recommendation and we are so grateful! We will absolutely seek out their services next time. Highly recommended!!”

“It was evident at our first meeting that Julia is a caring, responsible person. Our dog took to her immediately. Julia house-sat in our home for 4 days and it was spotless when we returned. She sent us pictures regularly. Our mature lab has high separation anxiety and it was evident in the first picture. But then more picture came..belly rubs, walks, cuddles, more cuddles. It was reassuring to know that while we were away our baby was being cared for by an empathetic, caring person. We would not hesitate to call upon Julia again.”

“Katherine agreed to sit for us last minute, which allowed us to visit our grandchildren in red deer. She was good caring for our nervous senior dog, and sent us regular feedback and pictures. She left out home nice and tidy. We will be having her sit again for us at the end of December!”
About: I bring both personal and professional experience to pet care. I grew up with dogs and have cared for multiple pups for friends and neighbors before joining Rover, which gave me a strong foundation in handling different personalities and needs. What truly sets me apart is my experience providing end-of-life care — administering medication and offering comfort to a sick dog with compassion and love. This has given me a deep understanding of the importance of trust, gentleness, and reliability, especially for senior pets or those with special medical needs. Whether it’s playful puppy energy or the tender care required for older pets, I adapt to each animal’s unique situation. I’m a graduate student currently on a study break, which means I have full availability to dedicate to pet care. With an open schedule, I can provide reliable walks, playtime, and companionship — giving your pets the attention they deserve while you’re away. I live in a cozy condo and would be happy to welcome your pet here, or I can provide care in the comfort of their own home. Being close to the river means I can take them on plenty of refreshing nature walks, giving them exercise in a beautiful setting.
“Katrina and Tom are excellent pet sitters. They show such care and kindness to both the owners and the pet. They really take pride in doing the best possible job they can to make you and your pet feel comfortable and follow the instructions. You layout regarding any routines. They were fantastic with our 11 week old puppy and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for help with their pet.”

I’m excited to turn that passion into a side hustle where I can care for pets while helping owners feel at ease. It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ladner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ladner walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ladner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
