“Lucy did a wonderful job looking after my senior pup who needs special care and attention. I really feel like my pup was made the priority and that she was very well taken care of. So nice to have when you can’t be there to do it yourself.”
“Deb is a lovely and caring person. Our dogos Loved her and we felt confident leaving them with her.she is laid back and doesn’t sweat the small stuff. Would definitely hire Deb again”

“Kendra went above and beyond to care for my senior dog. When a concern arose, she problem solved and communicated with me regularly and clearly. She put significant time and effort into making sure he was well cared for when he developed an issue during her stay with him. I can’t thank her enough for looking after my dog so well. I also came back to a house that was just as I’d left it (maybe even cleaner!).”

“Hannah was a wonderful sitter! There was a little bit of a miscommunication at the beginning but she was able to help me get it sorted. As someone who doesn’t usually leave their pet with a sitter, I was happy to see that my bunny was well cared for! Hannah was great at keeping me updated with photos and messaging me if I needed something to be done. Thanks Hannah!”

“Kate is a humble and awesome sitter,! She is calm, patient and cares for your furry friends. We were initially worried about toby's separation anxiety. At the first sitting, Toby got anxious when we left but Kate took really good care of him, she played with him, lots of love and kept him distracted. The second sitting was even more awesome because Toby did not bark at all and snuggled with Kate the whole time. Looking forward to having toby spend time with Kate again!”

“Madi was excellent !!!! She stayed at our home with the ‘boys’ for a week and it was awesome! We enjoyed our holiday even more because we knew the dogs were well taken care of! She sent update a couple times a day and doggies and home were in better shape when we came home than when we left!!! I think they’re missing her! Haha We will 100% book Madi again! Thank you Madi!!!!!”

“Samia was great! She watched our dog after a last minute appt in our home with Gizmo, she was attentive, even noticed he had redness on his paw and scheduled a vet appt. Gizmo loved hanging out with her we appreciate the last minute schedule and how kind she was.”

About: I have been a lover of dogs my entire life. I have had dogs my entire life. My family always asks me first to dog sit when they are away. I have worked with all kinds of dogs, from gentle to extremely anxious, and always provide safe, loving, and attentive care. I ensure to maintain boundaries you have set with your dogs. I am extremely caring, kind and detailed in my care. I am a freelance worker, so I have a lot of time to dedicate to my other passion: dogs and taking care of your pups. I am passionate about providing a loving and safe environment for your dogs. I am committed to providing the same level of care as you do along with the care I provide to my own dog. Our dogs are our family, they are loyalty and love, and I take the responsibility of caring for them with great seriousness.
About: I've had chickens, ducks, indoor birds, dogs and cats throughout my life, and understand most animals basic needs as well as how to effectively communicate with/for them and I am capable of accommodating for a variety of pets. :] I'm free most of the time so I'm able to do pretty much any job in my area at anytime and for extended periods, as long as I have proper notice. I have my own cat who I help take care of, but he's also cared for by 3 other people I live with and I work other odd jobs that may come up but generally I am available and I keep my calendar up to date. I can currently only take jobs outside my home, but I understand what it means to respect the privacy and safety of the clients home/household, and how to respect an animals boundaries in terms of meeting new people or experiencing a change in environment. I have had multiple rescue animals, some who were very resistant to certain types of interactions due to trauma with previous owners. I know many animals may experience similar anxieties and I will respect the boundaries of the individual pet, and closely follow the personal care instructions provided by the owner. I am less experienced with animals that have special needs or require medication, but I am happy to learn and accommodate for any pet I can!
“Natalie was excellent - she understands cats and their particular behaviours and was quick to make a connection with Biggie. She was great at communicating and sent photos daily. She kept both my fur-baby and home in excellent condition. I'd be happy to have Natalie stay with Biggie again.”

About: I have dogs of different breeds in my home since I was 7 years old. I have been taking care for dogs of all ages for over 17 years. I work from home 3 days a week, so I am open to come during lunch break or after work, also I often home on the weekend. It depends on the animal. I can take the cage with an animal home. Mostly open to provide service at pet's owner place. Generally cats do not like to be taken to a different home.

“Abhishek was a wonderful sitter for our pup, Helly! He suggested we do a meet and greet prior to the sit, to get acquainted with Helly and any particulars that he should know for his stay. He came prepared with treats and we could tell he has a genuine love for dogs and is really skilled with them. Helly loved him almost immediately! We chose Abhishek as he had experience with reactive dogs and Helly has shown some fear with loud sounds and new environments. He took her out on a short walk as we requested and updated us with some beautiful pictures and how she was doing. Everything went so well! Highly recommend!”

Sara has been walking my two dogs for a couple of years. They love it when she comes and takes them on walks. We had Sara house sit and look after the dogs for a week. It was very comforting to know she was looking after our home and pets while we were away. We had photos and a write up on how every day went. She did an amazing job of looking after our dogs. She also did an amazing job of doing the laundry of sheets and towels. Dishwasher was empty there was no dog hair to be seen and we have very hairy dogs. I highly recommend Sara. A great personality and easy to get on with.👍

Puneet is amazing! She always gave updates and pictures! I was at ease knowing I left my boy in such great hands 🥰 She goes above and beyond in her caring and takes time getting to know each pet. She understood their personality and found a way to make them comfortable, feeling safe and loved in her home. I highly recommend her, you wont regret it at all! ♥️

Hands down the best sitter we have ever had! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Madi was absolutely amazing looking after our English Bulldog, Luna! From the moment we left, she kept us updated with photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear from every update that Luna was being well cared for, getting lots of love, attention, and playtime, and we could tell she was genuinely happy. Knowing Luna was in such good hands was such a relief and allowed us to truly enjoy our time away without worrying about her. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We would highly recommend Madi to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and trustworthy pet sitter. Thank you, Madi, for taking such wonderful care of our girl!

Abhishek was just wonderful with our puppy Max. I could see from the get go that Max liked him and would have a good time with him. Abhishek was an excellent at meeting all of Max’s puppy needs like frequent potty breaks, play sessions, and naps. Definitely someone you can trust your dog with. I would highly recommend Abhishek as a dog sitter.

We booked Morgan and Roberto to watch our dog Mochi for three weeks while we were away. They provided daily updates and it was quite clear that he was being well cared for and loved. We came home to a happy and healthy pup and a well maintained house. Rest assured that if you book them, your fur baby and home will be in good hands.

Grishma was very responsive and sent me so many pictures during the house sitting stay. She came twice a day for 2 hours at a home and Sent me in depth updates each visit and was very patient! My kitties warmed up to her fast which is a green flag! Definitely using her for a babysitter every time!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Surrey maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Surrey walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Surrey choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
