“I came home to happy dogs and a clean house. She does a better job of cleaning the kitchen sink than I do! I am very happy with Darlee and I don't hesitate to recommend her. I am sure that Talia and Onyx agree with that recommendation!”

“Emerson house sat for us and was fantastic from start to finish! She communicates well and is very accommodating. Our dog Toby was so comfortable and relaxed with her. We came home to a clean house and a happy pup! We will definitely reach out to rebook for future trips. Thanks Emerson!”

“Iona looked after our pets and home for 2 weeks. She was great; our pets were healthy and happy, our house was spotless, and she communicated regularly. It was good to be on vacation and not have to worry about what was going on back home.”

“Vivian is an exceptional cat sitter—trustworthy, reliable, and truly attentive. During my time away, she provided daily updates with adorable photos, which gave me great peace of mind. I always knew exactly when the medication was administered, and she never missed a beat in keeping me informed. She also went above and beyond by cleaning up the litter boxes and taking out the garbage before leaving, which speaks volumes about her care and professionalism. All of this shows what a dependable and considerate person Vivian is. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter for my cats and will absolutely be booking her again!”

“10 STARS!! We recommend Peggie for pet care and house sitting. Peggie is so kind and in sync with our dogs, I could not have hoped for better care. Peggie is tidy and organized, our home was perfectly cared for when we arrived home. I was nervous to leave our dogs for the first time and Peggie put my mind at ease and kept me updated with lots of pictures and videos. I appreciated her care for me in this process as well. Peggie won over our nervous dog and was greeted for pets by the end of her stay. A great accomplishment and compliment to Peggie. Peggie’s care for our dogs and rabbits was excellent. (Feeding, cleaning, walking, spending time with them, playing) Moka is a great companion to any pets you have, gentle and a ready to play! Highly recommend Moka as a play date. I have found our dog sitter for any future vacations.”

“Very pleased with Riley! Great with Marley who is a senior 14 years old. Marley has never spent a day away from me . She doesn’t get along with many strangers! She really liked Riley as did I. She was excellent with Marley and I felt relieved that Riley was here at my house with her!! Riley was great at giving Her medication which is something I can hardly do! Thanks Riley”

“Dominique provided a fantastic service. She stayed in my house with my two 18 month old Boston Terriers for 10 days whiIe I was in Mexico . The dogs loved her. She walked them daily and sent me photo and text updates. She left my home in perfect shape and even watered my houseplants. I would thoroughly recommend Dominique and hope to use her services next time I'm away on vacation.”

“Amazing guy!! Went to Mexico and was so worried about leaving my 90 lb reactive dog but Jon was a pro. He stayed over for a week took care of my dog and cat. House was clean and my pets are so happy. Sent me pics and videos so I knew they were good!!! Highly recommend Jon for any pet sitting !”

About: Although I've never owned a dog myself, that's because I've always understood the level of time, commitment, and responsibility they deserve. I grew up around dogs, have lived with dogs for much of my life, and regularly care for my parents' two Toy Australian Shepherds whenever they're away. They're a mother and daughter duo with very different personalities and needs. The mother is a senior with hip issues who benefits from extra patience and mobility support, while her daughter has anxiety and does best with a calm, reassuring approach and a consistent routine. Being Toy Australian Shepherds, they're also incredibly intelligent and active, so I'm used to dogs that thrive on structure, engagement, and paying close attention to their individual needs. While I don't have experience with every unique medical or behavioural situation, I've been around a wide variety of dog personalities, energy levels, and temperaments. I pay close attention to canine body language, respect each dog's boundaries, and believe that building trust is far more important than forcing interactions. Whether I'm taking your dog for a walk, stopping by for a drop-in visit, spending the day with them, or caring for them overnight, I'll treat them with the same patience, attention, and respect I give the dogs in my own life. If your dog has a routine or needs I'm unfamiliar with, I'm always happy to do my research beforehand and carefully follow your instructions. My goal is to make sure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away! Right now I have a pretty open and flexible schedule, so I'm able to work around most pet care needs. Some mornings and around midday I'm busy babysitting my baby brother, but outside of that I have lots of availability for walks, drop ins, day visits, and overnight stays. I like planning ahead and making sure I have enough time to give each pet the attention they deserve instead of trying to rush from one booking to the next! I'll mostly be caring for pets in their own home because that's where they're usually the happiest and most comfortable. My goal is to keep their routine as normal as possible by following your instructions closely, respecting your home, and making sure your pet feels safe while you're away. In some cases I may be able to care for pets in my home, but it will depend on the pet. I live in a small one bedroom basement suite with my two senior cats, who are very sweet but also very timid. Because of that, I'd only consider pets that are calm, cat friendly, and comfortable in a quieter environment. No matter where I'm caring for your pet, I'll pay close attention to their behaviour, body language, and routine. I know every animal is different, and I think noticing the little things can make a big difference in helping them feel comfortable.
“Cara did a fantastic job taking care of our two babies (cats). Both animals required brief visits to the vet and Cara managed these adventures smoothly. She also assisted us with other issues while we were away. Our home looked much better on return than it did on departure. We were concerned our cats would pack their little bags and move to Cara's home on our return. Cara is a wonderful find and we have absolute confidence in her.”

About: Dogs and cats have always been special to me. Your furry family members are safe in my care. Check-ins, feedings, and medicine applications are all in my repertoire. I'm a BC native, new to the island. I'm a mortgage broker and have plenty of spare time, so pet sitting fits right into my lifestyle. I'll be there for your beloved family members when they need me. Walkings, feedings, medicine applications, pets, snuggles, and other common means of care are certainly available. I can also teach common tricks, if you have any requests.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for over 10 years, including regularly looking after my brother’s pets and raising my own Labrador since he was a puppy. I’m experienced with daily walks, feeding routines, bathing, and keeping pets comfortable with regular potty breaks and attention. I also completed a Dog Walker Certificate through Good Dog Academy. I treat every pet like family and focus on safe, reliable, and loving care while you’re away. Since I’m retired, I have a very flexible schedule and can easily adapt my day around a pet’s routine. I’m available for morning, midday, and evening walks, feeding times, potty breaks, and companionship throughout the day. I prioritize consistency, safety, and giving each pet calm, attentive care that fits their normal habits and energy level. I provide attentive, personalized care based on each pet’s normal routine and comfort level. In my home, my dog receive a safe, clean environment with regular walks, feeding, playtime, and plenty of supervision and affection. In a client’s home, I follow all care instructions closely to maintain the pet’s usual schedule, keep their space tidy, and ensure they feel secure while you’re away. My focus is always on safety, consistency, and treating every pet like family.
About: Over 10 years of taking care of pets has taught me one big thing: no two animals are the same. A high energy dog needs an active walk, a senior pup just wants to sniff a tree and hit the couch, and a shy cat needs quiet patience before coming out for chin scratches. I tailor every visit.. whether it's an energetic walk, litter box duty, or slow paced play to what your pet actually needs to feel happy and safe. ✨My primary focus is house sitting, ensuring your pets get dedicated, round the clock comfort in their own home. I am also happy to take on drop ins and walks upon request outside of house sitting bookings!✨ Why owners trust me with their pets: •Attentive & Safety Minded: I'm hyper aware on walks.. watching traffic, reading dog body language, and keeping a close eye out for environmental triggers or hazards. For indoor cats, I make sure double doors, windows, and quick escape routes are always secure before opening a thing. •Specialized Care: administering oral medications, handling reactive dogs, and adjusting my tempo for senior pets, energetic puppies, or timid kitties who need space to warm up. •Consistent Photo Updates: You'll always get photos and a clear update on how the visit went, so you never have to worry while you're away. •Proven Experience: I run a pet care business outside of rover 🫶🏻 and used Rover back in 2024–2025. After taking a short step back, I’m fully back and bringing that same reliable, professional care to every visit. I work part-time 3 days a week (8 hour shifts), which leaves the rest of my week wide open for pet care. When house sitting, I treat it just like living there! following your pet’s exact daily routine, hanging out at your place, and making sure they have consistent company so they barely notice you're gone. I’m always super mindful of safety. On walks, I keep dogs on a firm leash and stay aware of our surroundings. Inside the house, I double check that doors, windows, and gates are fully secured before leaving or turning in for the night. I know how important peace of mind is, so I'll always leave your home tidy and send frequent updates so you never have to worry.
“Ress was absolutely amazing and took wonderful care of my two large dogs and home for 3 weeks! She handled my German Shepherd’s leash reactivity and separation anxiety very well and was able to adapt to help him adjust to the changes. She had great communication with us and kept us well informed and sent update pictures throughout the sit! I highly recommend and book again!”

About: Hi there my name is Lucy. I am a Surrey based petsitter who is well trained in the care of many small and large animals. I previously worked on a rescue farm and have owned, fostered, and rescued many pets. I have experience caring for dogs, cats, mice, rats, fish, frogs, ducks, chicken, horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, Guinea pigs, rabbits….! I can clean, feed, medicate and treat your babies with much love! My schedule changes throughout the year- currently open for overnight sittings for between 2-7 day blocks. When I’m back at my regular work schedule I will alter my availability to reflect this (typically unable to provide sitting throughout the day time/week days, but still able for drop in visits and walks in the evenings). I will follow your routine and happy to be flexible. Sleep on the bed, in a crate, potty breaks in the yard/on a walk… you name it. Want updates and photos? No problem :)
“Gaelle looked after our two dogs for a weekend. We came home to two happy dogs! We received many pictures throughout the weekend which was a lovely touch! We wouldn’t hesitate having Gaelle return. 🙂”

“Hannah was a wonderful sitter! There was a little bit of a miscommunication at the beginning but she was able to help me get it sorted. As someone who doesn’t usually leave their pet with a sitter, I was happy to see that my bunny was well cared for! Hannah was great at keeping me updated with photos and messaging me if I needed something to be done. Thanks Hannah!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Walnut Grove
We can't say enough wonderful things about our experience with Alyssa. From the moment we left, she was incredibly responsive and provided regular updates, messages, and photos, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away for over a week. What truly stood out was her exceptional level of care, attention to detail, and genuine concern for our dogs' well-being. During our 1.5 week trip, one of our dogs was sprayed by a skunk in our yard, and she went far above and beyond what anyone would reasonably expect. She took immediate initiative to care for our dog, clean up the mess, wash affected items, and make sure both dogs were comfortable and safe, all while keeping us informed every step of the way. Her kindness, professionalism, and dedication were evident in everything she did. Our trip would not have been the same without her level of care and attention. Knowing our dogs were in such capable and compassionate hands allowed us to truly enjoy our time away. We are incredibly grateful for all of the extra work she put in and for treating our dogs as if they were her own. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pups and a clean and spotless home and we could not have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend her and would book with her again without hesitation. ❤️

It was our first time using the Rover app and having a stranger take care of our precious pup in our home. We were extremely worried and didn’t know what to expect. Finn was a wonderful dog sitter for our English Bulldog. He came for a visit before we left on our vacation and was extremely polite and friendly. Our dog loved him from the moment he met him. Finn welcomed his affection and connected within seconds. This gave us a lot of comfort knowing our pup really liked him, which isn’t always the case for him. We also loved knowing that Finn worked as a vet assistant, as our dog has some medical needs. We knew we were leaving him in good hands as he had the knowledge and expertise to take care of all of his needs. While we were away, Finn sent cute pictures of our pup, along with detailed updates about his day. He even reached out to ask if we wanted more updates. We felt that was a very thoughtful gesture. Finn was also extremely quick to respond to our messages, which also put our mind at ease. While we were away, there was a mini heat wave at home. Finn took caution to take him out only when the temperatures were cool as he’s extremely sensitive to heat. Finn also told us the AC was keeping the house very cool which was also comforting for us to know. We left snacks, drinks, and other items for Finn, but he barely took anything. He did not leave a dish in the sink, and the house was in the same condition in which we left it, which was super clean! He didn’t even leave any garbage in the garbage can. In fact, Finn even took the time to water my plants and flowers. He went above and beyond in so many ways. He also went as far as fixing our fire alarm malfunction for us. We are truly grateful for everything he did for our pup and for us. When we arrived at home, Finn was smiling away and so was our pup. We could tell they had a great time playing and going for walks together. We know our pup will miss him! Finn left us a thank you note, and left another for our son, thanking him for letting him use his bed while he stayed at our place. How sweet is that? We look forward to booking Finn again. We hope you consider booking him too because he did a Finn-tastic job! (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!) Honestly, Finn will take good care of your pup, and your home if you need the same support as us. Thank you Finn! You did an outstanding job taking care of our sweet pup and our home! Thank you for loving our pup as much as we do❤️

Emerson house sat for us and was fantastic from start to finish! She communicates well and is very accommodating. Our dog Toby was so comfortable and relaxed with her. We came home to a clean house and a happy pup! We will definitely reach out to rebook for future trips. Thanks Emerson!

Taylor went beyond our expectations and made herself available to meet our little 9 pound poodle a few times before we left for our week holiday. At first out little guy was reserved and hesitant but he was very comfortable with Taylor by the time we left and was cuddling up beside her as soon as we walked out the door. He was happy to see us on our return but Taylor is now his new favourite friend. We would not hesitate to have her look after him again and we know he would be happy to see her.

Lukas is fantastic! He took excellent care of our senior dog Lucy (as well as our house and plants). Twice now we've used Lukas as a house and dog sitter, most recently while we were away for a month. We left with confidence that all was in good hands. We returned to a happy dog and a clean house. We highly recommend Lukas to watch your home and take great care of your pets.

Samantha did a great job with our very anxious dog. Our dog was very comfortable with her and we were really comfortable leaving her with Samantha. When we returned from our holiday, Samantha had the house very clean and fresh baked cookies for us on the table. Overall very positive experience for our first time ever using a dog sitter

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Walnut Grove maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Walnut Grove walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Walnut Grove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
