“Nimisha was great! She was gentle, kind, and great company for Jessie. Jessie can be a little picky, but she accepted Nimisha right away and felt comfortable with her. I strongly recommend her, and we’ll definitely call her again.”

“Yin’s second stay with my cats- she was just as attentive and I really appreciated how much she wanted to get to know their individual personalities and connect with them. Will definitely book again when future needs arise.”

“Sophia was amazing! She took care of our 9 weeks old puppy, it was our first time leaving her with someone else and we felt really comfortable leaving Gigi (our puppy) with her. Gigi loved Sophia right away and they had a great time together. Sophia sent us updates and photos through the evening, which was really reassuring. We will contact Sophia in the future for sure!”

“Emilie is extremely friendly and experienced. She did a perfect job looking after our cats (who can be pretty high maintenance) and keeping us updated while we were away. We will definitely work with her in the future.”

“Junyan was awesome. Super easy to coordinate with and took such fantastic care of our cat Monte and our apartment. We had daily updates and photos and would definitely book with her again”

“Samantha was great with Mollo! She understood his senior needs and was so loving with him. He had his food, walks and pills and when I came back home I found a happy boy. Samantha was very communicative while I was away providing updates. I would definitely leave him with her again :)”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life and had a rescue pug for 10 years. He sadly passed away in 2024 at 18 years old. I have dog sat for others in the past and volunteer at the BCSPCA looking after shelter dogs.I currently work full-time at a dog friendly hotel. I work full time (currently a 3pm-11pm position) but maintained a good balance looking after my senior pug Milo on my own. I was able to make it home from work right away in the evenings to care for him. Dogs health, enrichment and well-being is a top priority. Healthy dog = happy life! I dog sit in the clients home as where I live in Vancouver is not pet friendly, unfortunately. I'm big on communication and getting to know the dogs routine and how the dog mom and/or dad wants things done. Trust is a huge factor. Without it, you don’t really have a solid foundation.

“Marta is the best! We came home after 10+ days away expecting that our girl would be so excited to see us! She was, but Marta but set the bar so high that Bella now expects the same kind of attention and walks that she had with her! (We took her to dog parks weekly and walks every few days) I cleaned the house and ensured Marta’s guest room was clean and comfortable, but I swear she left our home even cleaner than when we left! Marta sent us pics daily of walks she took with Bella, as well as other updates. She was also quick to reply to any requests or inquiries. Now our Bella’s head swings around in anticipation when we mention Marta’s name. She has truly become so attached!”

“Caitlin & Meghan were fantastic house and dog sitters! We were away for a week and came back to a tidy house and happy pup. They had great communication with us from the first meet & greet and throughout the stay. They also alerted us right away to a minor medical issue for our dog, and once the vet prescribed the medication, they picked it up immediately. We are so grateful for their excellent care and feel comfortable recommending them highly.”

“We couldn’t be happier with the care Tyke received! From the moment we met, it was clear Chayanit genuinely loves animals. Tyke was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared. We’re so grateful for the attention and affection she gave him—highly recommended and we will definitely book again!”

“Luis (aka Jose) was wonderful with our anxious Rottie cross. He won her over in no time, and gave her some great long walks. Luis is very good-hearted, and I would absolutely ask him again to care for our dog and cat when we go away.”

“Thank you Mariia for looking after Daphne and Oswald. They always love seeing you and you are a wonderful sitter - clean, tidy, respectful of our home. Appreciate your responsiveness and the very cute photos you took!”

“Charlotte and Sam are the best! They take such great care of our girl Ollie who has reactive tendencies and they leave our place cleaner than they found it! They are our go tos when we need to travel without Ollie. Thank you!!”

“Anna & Vlad took care of our 2 miniature dachshunds recently for a week and did a fantastic job. They were well taken care of, kept comfortable and content in our home and cuddled every day. Anna provides informative daily updates including photos and was diligent in understanding routines and schedules so they could be maintained. They are a lovely couple who I trust completely in my home and with our fur babies.”

About: What sets me apart is the genuine care, patience, and attention I give every pet. Having grown up with dogs my entire life, I understand that pets are family, and I treat them with the same love and respect I'd want for my own. I also have experience caring for pets with special needs. Two of my family dogs were diabetic, so I'm familiar with maintaining consistent routines, monitoring their well-being, and understanding the importance of following care instructions carefully. I've also cared for a cat with digestive issues, ensuring they received the proper food and routine to keep them comfortable and healthy. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work part-time from home, which gives me the flexibility to provide consistent care, regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and plenty of companionship throughout the day. My schedule allows me to adapt to your pet's routine, whether that means early morning walks, midday check-ins, evening cuddles, or overnight care. I'm an early riser as well. I provide fresh food and water, regular walks and playtime, lots of affection, and I'm happy to administer medications or follow specific feeding routines if needed. Having cared for diabetic dogs and a cat with digestive issues, I understand the importance of consistency and paying close attention to a pet's health and behavior.
“Krysten was an absolute lifesaver! She stepped in on short notice after a cancellation and went above and beyond to take care of our cat, dog, and birds. It’s clear how much care and attention she gave them—they were all happy and well cared for when we got back. We are so grateful for her help and highly recommend her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Vancouver
Robert was such a caring and kind sitter for our little furball. When we had our meet and greet my mind was immediately put at ease with leaving him to look after our cat. Also our cat has some medications that were needed and Robert followed those perfectly. He also sent us updates all over the weekend too. Would gladly have Robert look after our kitty again if he comes back to Rover! :D

Nicole took wonderful care of Maple and Canela over the long weekend. They were so well looked after, and it was clear they had company and attention the entire time, which gave us great peace of mind. She kept us updated, was easy to communicate with, and genuinely cared about making sure they were happy and comfortable. We came home to two relaxed and happy dogs, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a caring, reliable pet sitter, and we would absolutely trust her with Maple and Canela again. Thank you, Nicole!

Yue is great! He is incredibly kind and communicative. He updated us regularly throughout the weekend and asked questions if there was any uncertainty. He’s a stellar person with a big heart. Pip was in good hands! I’d highly recommend him to anyone and will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much, Yue!

Sophia was amazing! We will contact Sophia in the future for sure!

Carlett did a fabulous job taking care of our two dogs, one who had serious health issues. She was responsive and got back to us quickly. I highly recommend her as a responsible caring sitter. This is her second time with us and we wouldn’t hesitate to call on her again in the future.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vancouver maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vancouver walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vancouver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
