“Our animals were in such good hands :) thank you so much Nimisha for being so diligent and we loved the photo updates while we were away. Our cat and dog seemed happy as could be when we got home!! Would definitely recommend.”

“Caitlin & Meghan were fantastic house and dog sitters! We were away for a week and came back to a tidy house and happy pup. They had great communication with us from the first meet & greet and throughout the stay. They also alerted us right away to a minor medical issue for our dog, and once the vet prescribed the medication, they picked it up immediately. We are so grateful for their excellent care and feel comfortable recommending them highly.”

“Iris did an amazing job taking care of our kitties Lucifer and Kōjin! They were immediately comfortable with her and they definitely enjoyed their time with her. She made time for enrichment activities and playtime, and gave plenty of detailed updates which we really appreciated. It’s really nice to have a fellow cat lover care for your fur babies. I’m sure the boys would love to see her again :)”

“First time using Rover and honestly couldn’t have had a better experience! Emilie was so nice and communicative! She sent us lots of Pip updates and they became buds soon after she got to our place. I highly recommend booking with Emilie and I know we’ll be booking with her again in the future. 😊”

“Yin is wonderful! My girl absolutely loved her. She was so attentive with my pup. She went above and beyond, lots of walks, cuddles, and time with her. Yin communicated clearly, left my place the way she found it, and gave frequent, detailed updates. Cannot say enough good things!!! Thank you, Yin!”

“We had a great experience with Melissa. She was fast to respond, easy to communicate with, and came over to our house beforehand for a meet and greet, which I really appreciated. From the beginning, I felt that she was reliable and trustworthy. I felt completely comfortable leaving my home and the dogs in her care, knowing she would show up exactly as agreed. Melissa took wonderful care of Pablo and Braza. She took them on adventures to the beach, followed all of my wishes and instructions carefully, and truly went above and beyond. What stood out most was how calm, capable, and unfazed she was with my dogs’ special needs and sometimes slightly out-of-line behavior – she didn’t flinch or seem overwhelmed at all. Overall, I felt I could fully trust Melissa and our agreement from start to finish. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable, caring, and communicative dog sitter.”

“Samantha was great with Mollo! She understood his senior needs and was so loving with him. He had his food, walks and pills and when I came back home I found a happy boy. Samantha was very communicative while I was away providing updates. I would definitely leave him with her again :)”

“Kami took great care of my Sheena with lots of cuddles. I got back to a clean home - she vacuumed, cleaned the floors, took out the garbage, and washed the bed sheets - a nice surprise that was well appreciated after two long flights to get home. I also got lots of pictures.”

“Marta was absolutely amazing looking after our high energy, high needs dog for 3 weeks while we were away. She took such great care of him and our home. She really cared about doing what was best for him and went above and beyond. Unfortunately our dog got sick just as we were leaving and Marta took great care of him, troubleshooting cones/shirts, giving him medication and even had to take him to the vet. She communicated with us throughout all of this, and I completely trusted her judgement when taking care of him and giving as needed medication from the vet. Our dog loves her and was so lucky to have her looking after him!! We are so appreciative of all she did for him.”

“Maryam was loving and careful with my very senior dog. She kept me updated about his well being with photos and texts so that I was confident he was doing well. She is professional and very conscientious. Highly recommend.”
“Kiana was incredibly attentive and instantly made great friends with our dog. She's kind, knowledgable and it's clear the amount of love she has for animals. I'd highly recommend Kiana for all of your pet care needs!”

“Nadiia was amazing! We had an emergency that extended our trip by 24 hours and she was incredibly flexible and accommodating. We have already rebooked her for our next trip. Thanks, Nadiia!”

“It’s our second time booking with Isobel and once again she was amazing with our boys. They absolutely adore her and she takes such great care of them! Will definitely book her for future stays. Thanks Isobel!”

“Krysten was amazing watching our English Bulldog for a week in our home. She took great care of Ruby, and kept us updated with pictures throughout the week while we were away. Our house looked exactly as we left it when we returned and Krysten had even washed the sheets and remade our bed for us. She’s a very kind and easy going person and we wouldn’t hesitate to have Krysten pet sit for us again.”

“Saelin was perfect. Very communicative, lots of pictures, respectful of our humble home and Jeffery had a lovely vacation from us! Haha. I hope to be able to book her again next time. Highly recommend👍👍👍👍👍”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Vancouver
Fiona was an absolutely wonderful housesitter and took excellent, thoughtful care of both of my cats and my space. One of the many reasons I chose to go with Fiona - George needs to take medication twice a day and Fiona's experience with administering medication orally was a relief on my mind as it wasn't a problem for her. She gave daily updates and left me at ease that my senior babies were well taken care of. Fiona is methodolical and organized, and went above and beyond in taking care of my household and leaving it in a better state. Thank you, Fiona! Me and the kitties are looking forward to the next time you house-sit.

Shaughnessy was amazing with our three dogs and handled their needs with ease. I sent her a google doc with all of our care info and she remembered small details from the doc as soon as she came over which was really impressive. She’s clearly very responsible and professional and kept our place clean. We will definitely be booking with her again!

This was our first time using rover, and we couldn’t have had a better experience with Izzy. We felt so at ease that our kitty, Billie, was being well taken care of! Izzy kept us updated every day, and we could tell from photos and videos how relaxed and happy Billie was. We would 1000% recommend, as we definitely plan to have Izzy back when we go on vacation next :)

Tanya and Igor were excellent. Our elderly boxer doesn't warm up very easily but they immediately made her feel comfortable and it was clear from photos during their stay that she enjoyed them very much. They had great communication and sent frequent updates. Upon return our place was spotless and our dog was healthy and happy. Couldn't have asked for better sitters.

Saelin was great in taking care of our moody girl! Padfoot can be shy with new folks but Saelin helped her and us feel at ease! She was willing to try out of the box solutions and always kept us up to date with what was going on. We appreciate her patience and communication!

Iris was the best pet sitter for my cat Gigi, she sent regular updates with many photos and videos throughout the weekend and my cat adored her! She also left my place spotless and everything went smooth, I would highly recommend her if you are looking for a trustworthy pet sitter who loves animals, thank you Iris!! ❤️

Nellie had a great time with Rhianna! She was reliable and took wonderful care of Nellie while I was away. She kept me updated throughout and even checked in to make sure I got home safely. I also came home to everything clean and in great condition. Nellie seemed happy and well cared for when I got back. I would definitely recommend Rhianna and would be happy to have her watch Nellie again!

Ekaterina was a wonderful house sitter for our puppy and cat while we were away for 10 days. She was reliable, caring, and kept us updated, which gave us great peace of mind while traveling. We came home to two happy, relaxed pets and a well-cared-for home. We would happily have Ekaterina stay again and highly recommend her.

Teresa was amazing with our dogs. She came to meet them beforehand and asked all the right questions, even things I didn't think about. When our dogejded up needing medication over the visit she took on the additional task with no issues. We came home to very happy and healthy pups as well as a clean home. We highly recommend Teresa and her services!!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vancouver maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vancouver walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vancouver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
