“Jose did a great job walking my 80-pound pit bull, Frederick. Frederick is a strong dog, so I really appreciate someone who is confident and comfortable handling larger breeds. He took him on a 30-minute walk, and Frederick came back very happy and comfortable with him. I would definitely trust Jose again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable dog walker/sitter :) we will be booking future walks with him!”

About: I have had a dog growing up for 13 years. I also dog sit for my cousins each summer and they have 3 rescues. I am comfortable with walking, feeding, grooming, medications etc. I work a split shift so I have a chunk of time off in the mornings/ afternoons to walk dogs during my breaks throughout the week and I work only in the mornings on weekends so am available in the afternoon. I have 2 cats in my apartment and they mostly sleep but have a lot of toys, eat 3x a day and have a cleaned litter box every day. They like to sit outside on my balcony with me in the sun. But are never left unattended outside.
“Ayla is a super sweet and considerate person. She is very patient with my senior dog. She will turn on my air conditioner for me on these past crazy hot days. You will feel comfortable in knowing how trustworthy she is.”

“Junyan got along with my dog very well, and she cared for him so patiently. My dog took her to his favourite pet store and asked her to buy a toy for him. That was so funny 🤣.”

“Ugurcan is an amazing person and so professional with Ava , he care and love her and always on time and she’s always so happy to him every time, I really recommend to use his service🙏🏻 thank you”

“Renee is a responsible and attentive dog walker. She takes good care of the dogs and ensures they are safe during walks. I appreciate her careful approach and her ability to manage the dogs well. She is a reliable choice for anyone looking for a dependable dog walker.”

“Breanna was able to help me out last minute when I was home sick and juni needed a walk. Appreciated her patience and encouragement with juniper as she was hesitant to head out with a stranger.”

“Danica has been wonderful with Macchiato! She walked him, stayed to play, and kept him company while we were at work. He’s been happy and relaxed in her care, and we really appreciate the updates. We feel confident knowing he’s in good hands!”

About: Animals have always been a central part of my life. Growing up on a farm, I developed a deep understanding of the care, responsibility, and patience required to look after a wide variety of animals. Throughout my childhood, I was surrounded by dogs and cats, giving me hands-on experience with their unique personalities, needs, and behaviours. Today, I continue that lifelong commitment as the owner of a five-year-old medium-sized dog. My lifelong experience has given me a genuine appreciation for animal welfare, strong observational skills, and the ability to build trust with pets of different temperaments. This personal connection allows me to provide compassionate, attentive care while understanding that every animal deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and kindness. Pet care fits easily into my routine because I'm currently taking some time off work and have a very open schedule. I'm available on both weekdays and weekends and can accommodate a variety of pet care needs. Whether you're looking for short-term care, long-term care, or flexible scheduling, I'm happy to provide reliable, attentive care that works around your pet's routine. I provide care for pets in their own home, where they can stay comfortable and maintain their regular routine. I carefully follow all instructions you leave regarding feeding, exercise, medications, and any special needs to ensure your pet receives the best possible care. I treat every pet as if they were my own, giving them plenty of love, attention, patience, and companionship while you're away, so you can have peace of mind knowing they're in caring hands.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Vancouver
Riley has been so great the past few months in walking our dog Bobbie. My schedule is a bit all over the place and she's been more than flexible to come walk bob on very short notice. Always on time, and very communication, we’re so happy to have her around to help walk our boy Bobbie.

Ian has been working with us and Bort for the summer and I can’t recommend him enough. His communication and experience with dogs is excellent. He is extremely flexible and easygoing and truly loves spending time with dogs and taking Bort out to do fun things like hiking and swimming. It’s so helpful to have Ian be there to help provide extra support. Thank you Ian!

Flint had such an amazing time! He’s wary of a lot of people but Rebecca reassured him from the start and knew exactly how to approach his walks. He had a fantastic time he returned to us so happy and tired and he was so excited seeing her on their second walk! Will 100% be booking again and would recommend Rebecca as a walker/pet sitter etc. she’s also a lovely person to deal with and incredibly accommodating. It’s a lovely reassurance knowing our puppy is in such good hands!

Devon is the best! Shes been so sweet and patient with my rescue pup who can be a bit shy around new faces. She always sends lots of photos and updates so I know Maisie is in good hands while I’m away. Devon is so accommodating, and helped me out with a last minute booking which was a life saver. Highly recommend her :)

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vancouver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 87% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
