Pet care experience

insured, professional pet carer

I'm Billie! I'm a self-employed pet, home, and plant carer. I'm certified in pet first aid and my services are fully insured. I'm also a self-proclaimed horticulturalist with a love of houseplants :) I've been caring for pets my whole life and doing it professionally for the last four years. Over that time, I’ve built relationships with all of the pets I care for. I’ve been there for the untameable puppy energy, cared for pets in their final weeks, and watched rescues soften under the safety of a loving family. I truly find so much fulfillment in the meaningful and lasting ways this work lets me connect with animals, my neighbours, and community. I have experience caring for cats and dogs of various breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments, including puppies, senior pets, and disabled pets. My experience includes caring for pets with food allergies, anxiety, visual impairments, hearing impairments, mobility issues, and injuries. I'm comfortable administering oral medication, and providing additional care with instruction from a vet or owner. I’ve also cared for fish, bunnies and hamsters. I have experience caring for reactive dogs and am comfortable following established management and training routines. However, I am not insured to care for dogs with a known history of aggression.

Safety, trust & environment

I take my time to build trust with each pet, learn how they communicate, and get to know their quirks and personalities. You can feel at ease knowing that your pet isn't just being walked and fed, but loved and listened to. I also understand the responsibility that comes with being trusted with someone's home, and belongings. Through my professional work, I've developed a conscientious approach to caring for other people's spaces. I follow household instructions carefully, treat belongings with respect, keep things tidy, and communicate if something seems out of the ordinary. I'm happy to take care of everyday household responsibilities, like watering plants, bringing in mail, and taking out garbage and recycling. If you’re not sure whether a particular home care task is included, just ask! Every home, pet, and plant is different, and I’ll always follow your instructions rather than making assumptions about how things should be done. Caring for my clients' animals and homes is so more than a service transaction for me. The relationships I form with my neighbours, your pets, and families keep me connected to my community. And taking care of your pets reminds me to slow down, get outside, and take care of myself too <3

Dog Walking • Aug 27, 2026

Billie is our longtime, trusted pet sitter. We knew he was the right fit for our fur family the first time he ever sat for us when I received a text update that he sang 'Hey Jude' to our dog as a way to ease her anxiety. He is attentive, detail oriented and our pets love him. We have a full house with a dog, two cats and a rabbit and Billie is able to tend to all of their individual needs with ease. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is in need of a caring and professional pet sitter.

This is a VERY long overdue review for Billie. I had the great pleasure of having Billie housesit for my senior dog and cat over the holiday last December. Billie was incredible, my dog ended up having a severe hot spot right before I left that needed topical and oral medication and Billie was able to step right in and provide amazing care for a very long trip. Billie went above and beyond, providing many updates which made me feel very reassured and secure. The highest recommendation!!! Thank you so much again Billie, forever grateful! -- Tahlia

Billie was amazing with my big German shepherd, Chomsky, over the holidays while I was away. Felt very secure and worry free with Billie taking care of Chomsky. They had a great time with fun walks and I got lots of updates along the way ☺️ thank you Billie!

Schedule

I tailor my care to your pet’s needs, your preferences as a pet owner, your approach to training, and the routines you’ve already built together. If you’re up-and-at-’em at 5am for walk number one of the day, so am I! My goal is to make your pet’s time with me as comfortable and familiar for them as possible. Outside of pet and home care, I’m a multidisciplinary artist, arts organizer, and arts educator. Between walks, playtime, and snuggle sessions, I spend much of my time in clients' homes working remotely, writing, and working on creative projects (so your pet gets plenty of company throughout the day!). I love being active, spending time outdoors, and exploring nature. If you have a dog who loves walks, there will be many outdoor adventures to be had! and if your pet is more of a couch potato, I'm equally happy to spend the day keeping them company at home cuddled up with a good book. I also enjoy going to arts events or swing dancing in the evenings. Whenever I go somewhere, I always make sure the pets I'm caring for are comfortable and have everything they need before I go, and checking on them is always be my first priority when I get back. In addition to my pet care services, I offer services in cleaning, home organization, plant care, houseplant pest management & prevention. I often take on household projects while I’m already in a client’s home pet sitting or house sitting. If you've got a household task you've been dreading, maybe I can help :)

As part of my professional pet care work, I use a detailed client intake form covering things like your pets' breed, routines, health, behaviour, care schedule, and medical history. I require proof of vaccination. For pet sits, I always start with a free virtual or in-person meet & greet to make sure I'm a good fit for your pets and home. The more I know about your pet, the better I can care for them and make them feel safe, happy, and comfortable.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
