“This was our 1st time using Rover. And finding Julie was the perfect way to start our Rover experience. She was super communicative. Even when we needed to message her in between drop ins. She followed the instructions about feeding exactly and carefully. The time she spent with our boys showed. Our one boy is super shy but warmed up to her almost immediately. She sent so many picture updates and notes about how our boys were doing. We won’t be looking any further the next time we need someone to come look after our 2, Julie will be our go to! Don’t hesitate just book Julie if you need a caring, thoughtful, and clear lover of animals to take care of your furry family members!”

“Alissa was an AMAZING pet sitter -- my cat adored her. Alissa was super attentive, caring, and communicative. It made my vacation so much better knowing my cat was being looked after so well, plus she took many cute pictures. Alissa truly went above and beyond! Can't recommend highly enough.”

“Was incredibly attuned to my lil anxious Winston, provided consistent helpful feedback & was just overall a perfect pet sitter for my baby boy! I was nervous using rover for the first time, and Rachel exceeded my expectations & went above and beyond. Will be working with her again!”

About: I am experience with caring for several types of dogs and cats in size and breed. I have cared for multiple dogs at the same time and meeting their needs at any age. My greatest strength is my patience and my willingness to communicate with your pets to ensure a working relationship that is based on love and care. I work remotely at home, and I am happy to take breaks to care for pets in between my work. I am flexible with early morning walks to late evening strolls. I love walking through parks and working at pet friendly cafes. I am transparent with my work. Working at clients home is something I understand that must be rooted in trust and care. I respect people's property and schedule to the best of my ability. I am actively aware of the need for communication, and I place that trait above all.
About: I’ve been surrounded by animals for most of my life. From a very young age, I’ve felt a strong sense of empathy toward them, and I think that love for animals definitely runs in my family. I grew up around people who have always treated pets as part of the family, and that shaped the way I see and interact with animals today. I’ve learned to notice the little things — their body language, moods, boundaries, and individual personalities. I’m especially patient with pets who are shy or need a little more time to feel comfortable around someone new. More than anything, I genuinely love being around animals and want every pet in my care to feel safe, relaxed, and loved while their person is away. As a college student, my schedule gives me plenty of flexibility throughout the week. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and longer periods of pet sitting, including on many weekends. Spending time with animals is something I genuinely enjoy, so I’m always happy to make room for it in my routine. I know how much trust it takes to leave both your pet and your home in someone else’s care. I always follow the owner’s instructions closely and try to keep each pet’s usual routine as consistent as possible. I pay attention to their behavior and comfort level, respect their boundaries, and make sure they have a safe and calm environment. I’m also happy to send regular photos and updates so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away.
About: I have had extensive experience caring for all animals! Whether for family members, friends, and neighbors, I pride myself on being a reliable and constant resource for them! I also have experience with complex care and medicine administration! I am a graduating undergraduate student matriculating into medical school. My schedule is quite flexible until my start date in July, and I am available for days and nights! I will care for them like they are my own babies! I am very detail-oriented, whether it is dog-walking or sitting, feeding, or more I will always be accommodating.
“Bonnie was very responsive and we really appreciated her great communication and photos. She was reliable and responsible and we would not hesitate to book with her again in the future. Her service gave us such peace of mind while we were away.”

About: I have grown up loving all animals and have lived in a household with dogs. I feed them, take them out, take them on walks, and bathe them. I also sometimes dogsit my other family members dogs, which includes feeding them, walking them and taking them outside. I am currently unemployed until the school semester begins again. I have a lot of free time and would love to help out with your pet! I currently have two dogs at home, both of different breeds and both requiring different levels of attention. I spend a lot of time with them, inside and outside and love to take them on walks and let them play outside.

About: I grew up with dogs and love having them in my life and taking care of them! I’ve had a wide range of pets and learned how to be responsible for them and provide them with love and proper care. Unfortunately my dogs at home passed away this past year and I really miss having them in my life and would love to take care of your dog and give it love :) I have a flexible schedule and can provide quality care for them — walks, cuddles, food, you name it. I am experienced with all ages and many breeds of dogs. I am currently enrolled part-time in a graduate program, so my weekdays and weekends are very flexible. My classes are at night so I can definitely provide pet care during the workday and on weekends. I live in a quiet and friendly neighborhood in Boston, with parks and plenty of safe streets to go on walks. I take care of my apartment and have the proper space and equipment to provide quality care for your pets. My weekly schedule is very flexible, so I can confidently commit to taking care of your pet and giving it attention and pets.

About: I am currently a graduate student with a flexible schedule looking to spend some free time racking up that dopawmine! I have grown up with dogs and cats for my whole life and although I do not have my own furry friend right now, I adore pets and would love to share that with your pet! I have experience house sitting for a family with 3 medium sized dogs and am comfortable with dogs of any size. I also love to go on walks and stretch my legs, what would be a better addition than a doggo companion! Although I love dogs, also have experience with cats and love all from snuggle to sass! My camera roll is essentially filled with dogs and I would love to send updates throughout my walk/stay with your pet! I would be overjoyed for you to let me share some of my love with your furry friend! Please reach out, can’t wait to hear from you and yours 🐾. I am a graduate student at Northeastern with a flexible schedule. Because I have no pets of my own (yet!) I have a very open schedule! I am very comfortable walking on leash with dogs and am happy to do feedings and potty breaks! I appreciate clear instructions tailored to your pet to make them as comfortable as possible in their routine.
About: I have a wide range of pet care experience. I grew up with pets including dogs, cats, rats, a guinea pig and a bunny. I spent about 6 months before starting college fostering cats and kittens and gave experience fostering dogs including young puppies. I had a few regular dog walking clients before starting college, as well as a few regular pet sitting gigs. I have watched dogs as small as 10 lb yorkies to great danes. I also have experiencing watching chickens, ducks, frogs, lizards, and birds. I have delt with skittish cats, big jumping dogs, biters, and bolters. I have experience with administering different medications as well. I am a quick learner and love to spend time with any pet I visit! I am a full time college student at BU, but am looking for work a few times a week if possible. I am generally flexible outside of my set class schedule. I would love to walk your dog 1-3 times a week, or watch your pets over the weekend! I can do just about anything you need for your pet, whether that means a long walks, feeding and watering, medicine administration, or just spending some quality time with them when your out working.
About: I’ve provided pet care for both my best friend and my aunt multiple times, usually for about a week at a time. I’ve cared for their dogs in their homes and always made sure they felt safe, loved, and well-exercised while their owners were away. I’ve also always naturally connected with animals and get along really well with both cats and dogs, even bigger or more energetic dogs. And as of January, I’m officially a cat mom to my adorable son Oswald (Ozzy) 🥹 so I definitely have plenty of experience with cats now too! I treat every pet like my own and love giving them lots of attention, playtime, and cuddles while making sure they feel comfortable and happy :) Pet care fits pretty easily into my schedule because I’m currently a college student with plenty of time between classes, full days off, and weekends available. I’m able to work around your pet’s routine and make sure they get the attention and care they need. Whether that means going for walks, sticking to their usual schedule, playing, or just hanging out and giving them lots of love and cuddles, I have plenty of flexibility to make sure they feel happy and comfortable :) Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. I live in a roomy, pet-friendly apartment with two other people and my two cats, who are both used to being around other animals. I’d make sure your pet has plenty of space to feel comfortable and would give them lots of attention, love, and care throughout their stay. :) When pets stay with me, we usually spend time together in the living room — great for dogs who can’t do stairs — or relaxing in my bedroom if they prefer a cozier space. I’m always gentle, patient, and attentive, making sure each pet feels safe, loved, and completely at ease while you’re away.

“Catarina was fantastic! She was very flexible when I didn’t have extra keys for her until the day before her first visit. She was perfect for my cat, Oscar—his cat box looked great when I came home, and her pics for each visit confirmed his”
About: I’ve taken care of neighbors & family friends dogs since middle school, doing drop-ins, walks & overnight stays. I also have experience with senior dogs, both my own & friends’ who I’ve cared for. My childhood dog, and best friend, passed away almost two years ago, and as a huge dog lover, I’ve been missing having a pup in my life! I would love to love yours <3 I work a full-time job, but am hybrid, so I’m only in the office Tuesdays & Wednesdays! I can do walks in the mornings before work on Monday or Friday, after work any day of the week (adjusting for the commute on Tuesday/Wednesday), and can be free on the weekends! If you’re near where I live, I could also pop in during the work day on my remote days. Unfortunately our apartment doesn’t allow dogs :( But I will follow your lead on what works best for you & your pup(s) in your space! I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable with the routine & arrangement!
“Lorena & Jahn are wonderful with our pup Caddie! Caddie is a young, energetic puppy, and they were extremely helpful in keeping her happy and engaged during her 30-minute drop-in visits. They communicate very well, giving us updates at each drop-in visit with photos. We will definitely book with Lorena & Jahn again! Highly recommended”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Brookline Village
We are SO very grateful we met Christina! She's an outstanding cat sitter, and we greatly appreciated the detailed photos/Rover card!! It was our first time on Rover, and really loved how easy it was to communicate. Christina was a super communicator! We have a special needs older cat, Izzy (14+, fussy eater, just started hyperthyroid meds, was losing weight, plus some other elder cat issues). It was the first time we went away overnight since Izzy's new diagnosis and I admit, I was nervous about leaving her. Christina completely put me at ease and was SO great with Izzy! She even offered some really helpful insights about an elevated food bowl (to help with Izzy's appetite, arthritis, fussy eating). Christina took so much time and such care with Izzy. Thank you so much!

Lindsey took wonderful care of my soul kitty while I was away for 4 days. She sent pictures showing the progression of my babe warming up to her & even letting her hold & snuggle! My kitty does not warm up to everyone so it was very nice to know how safe & comforted she was the whole time I was away! Thank you again!

Maya was an awesome cat sitter! She did everything we were looking for and took such great care of our cat. She was very caring, attentive, and great with communication, which made us feel comfortable while we were away. We really appreciated her help and would definitely book her again!

Can not recommend Yeji enough! My cat Peanut is incredibly shy and Yeji did an amazing job making her feel comfortable. You can tell she was well taken care of from the cute pictures in her Rover card! Yeji is thorough and trustworthy, super communicative, made an extra effort to keep my apartment tidy, and made Peanut feel loved even while I was away for a full week in another country!

Kailey was absolutely wonderful! They were so kind, left thoughtful and detailed notes, and took great pictures of my cat. As my cat gets older and more particular in his ways, I’ve become a little more nervous about leaving him with new sitters. But every card from Kailey reassured me that he was in great hands and being so well cared for. I really appreciated the care and attention they gave him, and the peace of mind they provided me. I would absolutely book with Kailey again and cannot recommend them enough!

Without a doubt, Liza will always be our go-to sitter! She is so attentive to our kitty, detailed with the updates she provides on Rover, so good at capturing hilarious photos of our kitty, and clearly is so passionate about what she does. We appreciate her help every time we book her.

Beth was one of the most responsible and reliable cat sitters we have had. Our cats need meds including an insulin injection which she handled perfectly. She was even accommodating of unexpected deliveries coming to our house and knew when to reach out w questions. She is immediately responsive to communications and so loving with our cats. We are so lucky to have found an amazing sitter for our cats when we are away!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
