“Ari is fantastic and took such good care of our kitties while we were away! Especially our senior kitty that needed a lot of daily pills. I really appreciated Ari’s thorough communication and picture updates. It was a great relief knowing our babies were well cared for!”

About: Hi! I’m Caroline, a lifelong pet lover with years of experience caring for cats and dogs of all personalities. I understand that every pet has their own unique quirks, routines, and needs, and I pride myself on providing loving, reliable, and attentive care that keeps them comfortable while you're away. Whether it’s playtime, feeding, medication, or just quiet companionship, I tailor each visit to suit your pet’s preferences. I also offer regular updates and photos so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your furry family member is safe and happy. I treat every pet like my own with patience, respect, and lots of affection. Let me know how I can help! I currently work in biotech at an office job during the day Monday - Friday with some flexibility to be remote a day here and there, so I am available to stop by early mornings (5-7am) or after work (3-10pm) on days I’m at the office. I am available any time on weekends! At your home, I will be respectful of your space and the way you cater to your pet and their needs. I want to build a relationship to get to know you and your pet and will treat them as if they were my own!

About: I grew up surrounded by pets. Both my neighbor and my grandma had cats that loved to explore the outdoors, so I spent many summer days playing and exploring with them. During quarantine, my cousin got an Australian Cobberdog named Rosie. When they were away, I would frequently volunteer to be the one in charge of caring for her. In recent years, when my friends were away they would trust me to walk and take care of their pets. Over the years I have gained a lot of experience caring for cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes, and am so excited to meet your pet! During the months of May-August I am situated in Newton MA. During the months of September-April, I split my time between Amherst MA where I go to school at UMass and Newton. I think pet care is a two way street. I can only provide my best care if I know your pets needs. I preform my best when I know everything I need to know about your pet.
“Alyssa was amazing for my dog and me. Highly recommend. I had a last minute business trip and she was able to drop in to save the evening and walk Louie while I was out of town. And it was her first walk with us. She knew just what to ask during the meet and greet and then again right before the walk to make it be a success for her, me and most importantly Louie! Thx!!!!”

“Elizabeth was fantastic with our young puppy - kept him on great sleeping and play schedule and was super easy to work and coordinate with! Look forward to having her back soon.”

“Alexander was a very kind and responsible care provider to our two darlings and his extra care and communication was very helpful as we changed a couple of routines for our cats just when he came to care for them. Our shy kitty even interacted with him! I highly recommend Alex if you need a caring and attentive cat-sitter.”

“Maegan was incredible with Jax, helping with his special needs and ensuring he was comfortable and loved whole I was away. Maegan provided excellent communication, providing detailed write ups and taking lots of pictures for each visit. I would highly recommend Maegan to anyone looking for a caring and thoughtful sitter! Thank you!”

About: Hi! I’m Allison, and I’m a rising junior at Cornell University studying Animal Science on the Pre-Veterinary track. My experience includes volunteering at a therapeutic riding center, working with farm animals, and spending time at a Fear Free certified veterinary practice. Through those experiences, I’ve learned how to read animal body language and help pets feel more comfortable in unfamiliar situations. I have a dog of my own, Percy, so I understand how much trust goes into leaving your pet with someone else. I enjoy getting to know each pet and figuring out what helps them feel comfortable. I’ll follow your pet’s routine closely and make sure you receive updates while you’re away! I’m home from university for the summer, which gives me a pretty flexible schedule! I’m available most days and can work around your pet’s routine, whether that means walks or drop in visits. I’ll be in the area through mid-August and can usually accommodate weekday and weekend requests. I’m comfortable caring for dogs with different temperaments and energy levels. Through my experience in animal care and at a Fear Free certified veterinary practice, I’ve learned how to read body language and recognize when a pet may be feeling stressed or uncomfortable. I always follow instructions closely and take the time to make sure each pet feels comfortable in my care. I’m also happy to provide updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away.
“Jana helped us out very last minute! She was flexible when I asked her to come a little earlier. Will definitely request Jana again. Highly recommend!!”

“Leanne is such a wonderful sitter for my cat Ellie! She looks after her with so much care and love. I used to feel much more anxious leaving Ellie but now I always know she is in good hands with Leanne.”

“Maria was amazing! Murphy is anxious around new people so can sometimes be difficult but she was patient with him - exactly what he needs! She was on time and made sure to send me pictures of Muprhy on their walk. So nice to have someone be able to let Murphy out and know he’s being well taken care of!”

“Sarah was excellent! She was very prompt and thorough in all of her communication leading up to and during the drop-in visit. She took great care of our dog. I highly recommend Sarah!”

“Sabina was wonderful! She helped us in a pinch, was responsive, and took great care of our puppy. She sent pics and let us know how it went. Would DEFINITELY recommend!! Thank you!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Newton Centre
I booked Claire while traveling out of state to care for my cat, Zelish, and she was exceptional. Claire was incredibly receptive to Zelish’s care instructions, paying close attention to specific details like water quality and regulating the apartment temperature during a severe heat wave. She even thoughtfully offered to water my plants, though it wasn't needed because I thoroughly watered before my departure. Her frequent photo updates gave me complete peace of mind while away. I am extremely grateful for her attentive care and would highly recommend booking with her again.

It’s hard to tell who has more fun when Megan walks Clare! Today, they explored far beyond what I booked Megan to do. We ‘ve been relying on Megan for two walks each time we call on her, and she’s very responsible, considerate, and loving to Clare, always adding tummy rubs and topping off her food and water before she leaves.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
