About: I grew up with dogs and finally got my first puppy 8 years ago. I love dogs and we have an 8 year old labrador ourselves. I know how hard it can be to find good care for a dog when traveling, this is why I want to help out and offer boarding to others. I am currently working from home Mondays and Fridays, so I can offer several walks throughout the day. Over the weekend I can bring your puppy to the beach or on small hikes. I have a friendly dog myself who can keep yours company. My family lives in a townhouse, the dogs are only accessing the 1st floor. Dogs are not allowed on furnitures or bed.
About: Hello! I live in Watertown. I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule so I enjoy dog walking and pet drop-ins for pure joy. If you book with me, seeing your pet will be a highlight of my day. You can count on me when it comes to communication with you and love for your baby. I bring toys and treats, and can work with shy furry friends. Follow my journey at maggiewalksthe617 on Instagram. Please note - for dog owners seeking walks or drop ins for going out of town I will need the full schedule of when the pet will be let out in the event I am not covering all potty breaks. Will only take visits where the dog has care every 8 hours at the most. I work full time from home in HR as a comp analyst. My schedule is very flexible. I want to schedule walks adhoc during the day or after work! When entering a clients home I will treat the area with care, make sure to lock up, check for water for the animal. I will do my best to find an appropriate outdoor/garage trash for the waste as well.
“Amy is wonderful! My cats seldom socialize with anyone other than us sadly, but they were happy to see her daily. We (my husband and I) could tell from the pictures how happy they were. They usually did not come out much for their previous pet sitters. Amy was so nice and lovely to talk to. I knew she loved cats/animals as soon as I met her and I knew my kitties would be in the best hands. We were away for 8 days! That was the longest we have left the kitties. Our neighbors or colleagues were usually watching them when we left town, but we were tired of asking for favors so we decided to go a different route (Rover). We were nervous at first, but this was the best decision we have ever made with pet sitters for our kitties. We hope whenever we go away, Amy is available. Our kitties just loved her! Thank you Rover for connecting us. We look forward to using you again.”

“Sue was fantastic. She took great care of my dog and took plenty of pictures. She even went above and beyond and put on his doggy sweater as she noticed he was cold. I highly recommend using Sue. Thank you!!”

About: I've been doing pet care since I was 8 and have lots of experience with animals of all ages and personalities. Typical animal care from me looks like refilling food and water, walks, cleaning litter boxes, and finding creative ways to keep your animals thoroughly entertained. This summer I'm taking online college classes so my schedule is super flexible. The only set times I'll be busy doing virtual classes are from 11:00-4:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please let me know what times work for you. I will always make sure to keep your dogs on leashes when not in fenced in areas to ensure your pup's safety is accounted for.
“Adelle was amazing! So great with the cats, left great messages and took photos every day, and had no issues administering medicine to my temperamental cat! Would 100% book again”

“My cat loves Maegan! I have had her take care of my cat multiple times, and I’m so pleased with care and connection she has with him. I highly recommend having Maegan care for all your fur babies 😻”

“Grace is awesome! She is very communicative and happily worked with my random schedule. I couldn’t be happier. And my dog loves Grace as well. He is all about people but he knows his favorites and Grace is one of them. She is great to work with!”

About: As a work-from-home mom who grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, and birds, I miss having animals around! Our home is currently pet-free, so I am looking for furry friends to break up my workday with cuddles and exercise. Once school is out, my three kids (ages 12, 10, and 10) are always ready to jump in for backyard play and high-energy fun. I offer attentive drop-in visits and walks in the Newton area and we ready to welcome your pet into our family for walks, play, and endless cuddles. As a work-from-home parent with a very flexible schedule, I can offer your pup the attention and companionship they deserve throughout the day. Whether it’s a midday sunshine break for some Vitamin D or a cozy spot by my desk while I work, your dog will never be lonely. In the afternoons, my kids love joining in for our neighborhood walks, making it a fun, social experience for any pup who enjoys a little extra energy and play! Your dog’s safety is my absolute priority! We live in a spacious first-floor condo in a quiet Newton neighborhood, which makes for quick and easy access to the outdoors—no stairs or elevators to navigate! We live in a pet free house, so your fur baby will get the attention they deserve. We have a large backyard where your pup can enjoy supervised playtime and stretch their legs throughout the day. Because I work from home, I am physically present at all times. When my kids join us for afternoon walks or play sessions, I am always 100% hands-on and supervising to ensure every interaction is gentle and safe for both the dog and the children. Our home is a calm, smoke-free environment where your pet will be treated like a member of the family. I am happy to follow any specific safety protocols or feeding routines you have to keep your pup’s schedule consistent and stress-free.
About: I am a social worker for humans professionally but apply the same kind of all encompassing empathy and love for dogs. I haven't had a dog of my own yet, but I've lived with and cared for many dogs over the last several years, and I’m an auntie to many close friends’ pups. Just waiting until I can be a full-time pet mom before I get a pup of my own. I can commute to you by car or public transportation. I am happy to have your dog be in my car. I just want to go on adventures in the outdoors and explore with your pup! I will love him or her as my own. Hope to hear from you soon! While I am taking care of your pet, I will be very attentive to their needs and involve them in my day as much as possible! Will spend majority of my time with your pet. I will be on top of all of their feeding, toileting, exercising and socializing needs. They are my #1 priority! I recently started my own psychotherapy practice and I work Tuesday-Friday. I go into my office most days but can alter that as needed for pet sitting. On Saturdays, Sunday’s and Mondays- your fur babies will have my undivided attention! I don’t have a fenced yard but I live near many dog parks where I could take your pup. I live in an apartment building but it’s rather small, with only 6 units total, and it’s pretty quiet with very little foot traffic. I’m happy to do whatever is necessary for caring for your pets, whether it’s in my home or yours!
“Brianna made sure my hateful little furball was well-cared for, understanding how to give her the space she needed while still keeping her company and well-fed. Thank you so much!”

“Sabina did an amazing job. Went above and beyond in taking care of my cat even bringing over a comb, some rub in shampoo, and staying extra one day. Truly a great cat sitter!”

About: I grew up in a home with three Boxers and have always had animals as an important part of my life. As an adult, I’ve cared for several cats, currently have two of my own, and have experience caring for a variety of animals, including horses. I’ve also previously cared for a Maine Coon, so I’m comfortable with pets of different sizes, breeds, and personalities. I understand that every pet is different, and I’m comfortable caring for animals who may be shy, anxious, energetic, stubborn, or simply a little mischievous. I’m patient, attentive, and take the time to understand each pet’s individual routine and needs. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I was recently laid off from my job, so I have ample time to spend with your pet and get to know them and their individual needs! Pets are often happiest and most comfortable in their own homes, surrounded by their familiar toys, treats, routines, and favorite spots. I’m more than happy to come to your home and care for your pets while you’re away, helping keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I’m respectful of your home and personal space and will treat it with the same care I give to your pets. I’m also very comfortable following detailed care instructions and will make sure your pet’s usual routines, medications, feeding schedules, and other needs are followed closely. Most importantly, I want you to feel confident that your pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Nonantum
This was our first time with Kevin, and we had a great experience! He was very responsible and kept us updated with messages and photos throughout the visit. It was so nice to see how our cat was doing, and we felt at ease knowing he was in good hands. We really appreciated the communication and care, and we would definitely reach out to him again next time we need a cat sitter. Highly recommend!

Hannah is excellent with my black cat, Juniper! She engages with Junie at the level she needs, shifting her play and attention based on my cat’s mood. She always checks food, water and litter and takes good photos with a detailed report. I will be using her again!

Caroline is our go-to pet sitter on Rover. She takes wonderful care of our cats and is always giving us updates with pictures each visit. She makes sure they always have what they need and are given lots of love and attention. We highly recommend Caroline and will surely be going back to her whenever we need a sitter.

Stephanie is the absolute best. She gives the best care to our two boys, paying special attention to our shy one, and gives detailed updates with great pictures and videos. It's such a relief to know that, when we are gone, our guys will not just get food and water, they'll get all the love and pets they need. Thank you!

Quinn was great with Morris and made me feel totally comfortable leaving him in his care. They were on time and sent updates and pictures. Morris seemed totally relaxed when I got home. I’d definitely recommend Quinn and would happily have him watch Morris again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
