“Joel gave daily updates on my dogs and was sweet about doing slow introductions with my dogs and his cats. Very communicative and’s easy to work with for drop off and pick up. It also helps that he works from home because my dog can be quite anxious and I also appreciate that he only watched my dogs, so I didn’t have to be nervous about what may happen with other rover dogs as well. Will book again. Thank you Joel!”

“Ashley was wonderful with Cedric! She was super communicative throughout his stay and sent regular updates, which I really appreciated. Cedric was clearly very well taken care of and came home happy and relaxed. I’d definitely trust Ashley to watch him again. Thanks so much!”

“Asha was fantastic w/ Bella. Asha updated me every day and sent me a ton of pictures (which I wanted). She was very receptive and open. She’s great!!! 10/10 would book again and recommend! :)”

“Jose is absolutely awesome! My pup is always sad to leave! He takes great care of our baby, and we know she is in good and safe hands, when she's at Jose's. ❤️”

“Luckystar had a great time at summer camp with Jen and her crew!! I could tell from the updates provided that she was very happy and receiving lots of treats, toys and attention. Highly recommend booking with Jen”

“Sarah took care of my dog for the third time. He ran up to her when I dropped him off. It's always such a relief to know he's in good hands and I don't have to worry about him while I'm out of town.”

“Krissy and Eudora were so amazing with Kaia. I felt confident that Kaia would love staying with them and as much as she was glad for me to come back, she had a wonderful stay with them. Kaia tends to annoy other dogs with her puppy energy but Eudora was such so sweet and patient with her. Would 100% book again.”

“Zoe, David and their family were fantastic sitters while we were on an international vacation! Our Doberman seemed happy and worn out when she got home and I’d definitely recommend them to anyone seeking a reliable sitter.”

“Sarah was an incredible! Her house is so well suited to host your fur babies, she provides the sweetest updates and could not be more excited to love on your best friend while you’re away.”

“Ryan was amazing!! We took our 3 dogs with him on a short notice and he took great care of our pups, sent us daily updates and pictures of them which made us feel so much better! Great sitter, next time I'm in Austin I'll def take them with Ryan again!”

“I must have done something right in a past life to have found someone as caring, amazing, and intentional as Kate to look after Princess. I got photos and videos everyday of her playing and having a good time, and she came back happy as ever. It was my first time leaving for over 2 weeks, and I was nervous, but all that went away when I saw my pup was in the best hands. I recommend to everyone.”

“Jarlaith is very nice and cared for my dog. Communication prior to the first day could have been better with regards to what was available I.e. crate needs etc. But overall he took good care of my dog.”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs and cats since birth and have lived with a dog all but 5 years of my life. Although I personally don’t have a furry friend, all of my friends do and often rely on me to provide their dog a fun vacation and safe stay while they are away. Anything from taking care of sick or older dogs to training puppies, I’ve been fortunate to watch a lot of dogs in my life and have earned their trust through care and treating them like family. Since I don’t have pets of my own, more of my day can be dedicated to yours. Whether dog or cat, my apartment offers space for both to roam and be outside. I also regularly walk on the Lady Bird trail located just steps from my home which allows me to be very active and your pet to do the same. I work in West Lake 3 days a week but am able to come home freely for lunch. The other 5 days of the week I am either working or hanging around my home, plenty of time to be dedicated to caring for your pets. I prefer not to crate animals while I am away if they don’t need to be. I want your pet to feel comfortable and safe in my home while also feeling like on vacation, with the trail and dog park nearby. I am a huge animal lover so of course they are invited on the furniture and in my bed, however will respect your rules if they differ. Your pet will be treated as if it were mine because all of my love and time will be solely dedicated to it when I am home. You can feel safe knowing your dog or cat won’t have to be forced to get along with another while at home, but also having the ability to play with other dogs/cats on the trail and in the dog park.
“I had the best experience with Wilson and Jessica! They were super communicative, and made me feel great about leaving my dog with them for 5 days. I got tons of photos and felt reassured that she was cared for and loved. Highly recommend!”

“Priscilla was a great sitter for my elderly dog! She was very easy to schedule and communicate with. She sent cute pictures and regular updates while I was away. Highly recommend and look forward to her watching him again!”

“Misti was a great Rover. Communication was very prompt and her pup was very sweet and played nicely with my energetic doodle. Thank you again, and I hope to continue to use Misti in the future :)”

“Cassandra & Jason took such great care of my dog. They took her on daily walks, gave her lots of love and even took her on some adventures. I think she got lots of love and attention when staying with them. I would definitely use them again when going out of town.”

“Alice is Very nice and comforting knowing the care she gave jester during his stay! We got great updates and photos and Jester really seemed to enjoy his stay. We will board with Alice in the future for sure !”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Austin
We had a great experience with Amy over a two-and-a-half-week stay with both our dog and my mom’s dog. She was incredibly loving and conscientious with them, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about making them feel safe, comfortable, and at home. She clearly has a deep understanding of dog behavior and was a pro at making my anxious dog feel safe and happy. She was also very proactive about communicating with me and keeping me updated throughout their stay. At one point, when my dog potentially needed to see the vet, she even offered to take him herself, knowing that I was home with a newborn and that getting away was difficult for me. I really appreciated how thoughtful and helpful she was (and how she sent me adorable pictures of them almost every day :)!) There were a couple of minor logistical miscommunications during the stay, but what stood out to me was how receptive she was when we talked about them and how willing she was to do whatever she could to address my concerns and make things right. I really value someone who is caring, communicative, and responsive, and she was all of those things. Most importantly, our dogs were clearly very well loved and cared for. I would absolutely recommend her and would love for our dogs to stay there again. Five stars!

We’re so thankful for Lilia! She boarded Storm during our vacation and gave us daily picture updates that made us feel so comfortable. Storm came home happy, healthy, and worn out from all the fun she had with the other small pups. You can tell she was truly cared for. Highly recommend!

Bassam is awesome!!! We are from out of town and he was so sweet and willing to help us out on looking after our Yogi Bear. When we picked Yogi up he didn’t want to leave and for sure had a great staycation. We will for sure use him again when we are in town. I highly recommend!!! Thank you!

Madison was great with my little buddy. This was his first Rover stay in Austin and he looked like he had a great time. I know when he does because he is depressed for a few days on retuning. They sent me update on my little buddy everyday and feedback on how he is doing. He particularly loved the walks he went on. He also loved ball playing which I told them if they start he does not know how to stop. They found out first hand. His overall stay was great from the meet and greet to to time I picked him up. I will definitely use them again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in TX ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
