“Savannah & Gabriel took good care of Abby, my 3-month old puppy, for about 7 hours while I went to the UT football game. They are a sweet couple, their apartment is immaculate, & Abby seemed relaxed & happy when I picked her up. I was also happy that they only had one pet of their own, another little shih tzu like Abby. I appreciated the pictures of Abby they sent. I also liked that they had puppy supplies (play pen, pads, beds, etc). All in all it was a very good experience.”

“Mercedes took great care of our pup Mila. She was very responsive & sent photos of her everyday. Mila was immediately comfortable in her home and we picked her up very happy. We’ll definitely be using her again in the future. Thank you again for loving on our pup!”

“Denise was great! She was very responsive to my last minute request to keep my two small dogs over night. She was very accommodating and let us come do a meet and greet in advance. Drop off and pick up were easy. We got lots of pictures of them playing with her other guests and also relaxing. They were happy and calm upon pick-up -- always a sign they had a great visit with someone. Thanks!”

“Kali was wonderful! She took great care of Murphy and was flexible during drop off when my plans changed last min. She sent daily pictures / video updates. Would definitely book with Kali again in the future!”

“I would give 10 stars if possible! Sherry is the sweetest person and she took care of Bruce for 6 days when i was out of town! She sent lots of pictures and captured some really beautiful moments with Bruce and her kid! I could see Bruce was really happy being with her and Ruby being such a great dog companion ♥️ I was rest assured on my trip and would always consider her every time i need a sitter! ☺️ 100% recommend!!”

“Great communication. She took care of our dogs like they were her own. She definitely has a gift for caretaking. This was my 2nd time using her services and I will book again”

“Marissa is amazing and took such wonderful care of our little Uchi! It was our first time having someone outside of our family and friends care for him and we could not have been happier. Lots of pictures and updates and overall an amazing, seamless experience!”

“Benny had a playful, wonderful weekend at Michael’s. He especially enjoyed hanging out with his dog Maisy who welcomed him with open paws. Michael made my weekend getaway stress free since he is so easy to coordinate with. I highly recommend his service and have already booked another weekend”

“Gail was amazing with our dog. The photo updates were precious and my dog really bonded with Gail. She would be so happy to return the next time we are out of town! Thank you Gail!”

“Chris was fantastic, as per usual! Frequent updates, and Jake was the happiest little pup ever this past week. Lots of space to play and it’s just really nice to have someone we trust in the area for our boy when we are out of town. 10/10 best person we could have ever found in Austin!”

“Marie was an outstanding sitter! Her excellent communication and regular updates including pictures were so appreciated. My dog requires medication with each meal and she ensured this was taken care of, and gave Lenny plenty of exercise between walks and lots of outdoor time while the weather was nice. I highly recommend Marie for anyone looking to have their fur baby cared for!”

“Ziggy loved his stay Amane & her husband. They took him on lots of walks, and adventures in town. There happened to be another dog there and Ziggy seemed to enjoy having another dog to play with. Amane sent photos & detailed notes each day, which we appreciated. Ziggy was so calm when we picked him up. I think he truly enjoyed his stay! I highly recommend Amane and will book again.”

“Cashew had a great time! I could tell from the many pic updates that he was well loved and cared for. Gol was extra accomodating when I ran into car trouble and I couldnt pick up my dog until hours after the original drop off time. Will definitely use again!”

“Paula instilled confidence in their ability to care for my 2 dogs, 1 is a 14 y.o., who needs eye drops 2x a day as well as arthritis tablets 2x a day, and they did a great job of keeping up with the meds for my aging pup. They kept my small dogs on harnesses when outside for potty time, so they couldn't slip out of their wrought iron fence, and safe from falling in their beautiful pool. (These extra measures would not be a problem with large dogs). Plenty of pictures were sent during our short stay, and the dogs came home happy. I felt very comfortable making minor adjustments to our pickup times, and their flexible schedule. Would highly recommend this couple and their 2 girls.”

“From our first communication and through Stevie’s entire stay with Juan and Athena, we had the most wonderful experience and know that our dog did too. We met for a meet and greet, and our dog warmed up very quickly to Juan and his beautiful girl. He’s friendly, very communicative, and we are certain our girl got plenty of attention while we were away. Even when our trip got extended and our return home was delayed by traffic, Juan graciously kept Stevie for a couple more days. We appreciate him so much and absolutely recommend him to others! Your baby will be very well cared for with Juan! You will receive great communication and lots of pictures of your pet! Thank you, Juan! - Teague and Marisa”

“Nancy and Ralph took such good care of our Lucy. Loved all the pictures that were sent showing us what a good time she was having. She loved all the attention and care. We never worry as we know she is in good hands. She is looking forward to her next visit.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in TX ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
