“Brandon was the best! He came and met our dog who is always apprehensive about new people. Within in minutes of Brandon’s initial visit our dog was sitting in his lap like he had known him forever. Brandon messaged us the day before he was supposed to come stay with our pets confirming times. He arrived on time and sent videos while we were away. He truly is a wonderful pet sitter!”

“Hannah is always very quick to respond and provides plenty of pupdates. She makes it easy to relax while on trips because we know our dogs and home are well taken care of.”

“Did a fabulous job with my nervous baby, my needy baby, and my senior baby with dementia. Super communicative and sent many pix (which helped when I missed them!).”

“David was a wonderful pet and house sitter. He checked in daily and shared photos of our sweet dog Bear while we’re gone for 6 days. He took her for regular walks and to some of her favorite places in the neighborhood. David left the house in perfect condition, and Bear was a happy girl when we returned. I highly recommend David for any pet and house sitting needs!”

“Caitlin was amazing. Sent daily pictures and updates of my dog. My dog is spoiled rotten with attention, food, love etc. Caitlin was able to give all of that to her while we were away for 10 days!!”

“Jaqui is so great! She communicated with us and sent plenty of pictures. She took great care of our home leaving it cleaner than she’d found it. She was with our nervous pup for a week and took such good care of her. It was a relief to know she was there taking care of things for us.”

“Nathan was a wonderful house/dog/cat sitter! would highly recommend to anyone that needs care for their pets while out of town. great communication, and super great with all animals!”

About: Hello! I’m a nurse pursuing a graduate degree and pet and house sitting on the side. I’ve had cats & dogs my whole life, and have cared for little reptile pets as well! I have experience walking, running and playing with dogs of all sizes and petsitting durations from an overnight to one month at a time with both dogs and cats. No dogs (or cats!) are too big or too small. I enjoy helping pets get outside and active, or doting on them at home. I’m comfortable with puppies and elderly dogs and cats, and can run with your more energetic pups to get their yayas out! My schedule is very flexible and I take pet care seriously - I want you to be worry-free while you’re on vacation or busy at work. I have three fully remote weekdays per week and one half remote day, so plenty of quality time to spend with your pup. I’m available for scheduled weekly walks, one-off check-in’s and walks, as well as for overnight stays and longer pet sitting periods. I’m currently a full-time student with lots of lunch break time and three fully remote days a week to tend to pups & cats! I’m happy to help with short or long at home care while you’re traveling, or to set up a weekly walking (or running) schedule with your dogs. Reach out and we can discuss what works best! I offer pet sitting in your pets’ home spaces, and am happy to adapt to specific needs while at your home. I’m an early-to-bed and early-to-rise person, so I’ll be able to spend plenty of time with your pets and help them get active before I head anywhere for a few hours! I can provide feeding and medication administration, and have experience with pills, creams, dressing changes and insulin injections for pets.
“Kathleen was a great help taking care of our two dogs while we were out of town overnight! She was very communicative with updates and photos and was comfortable with giving oral meds. We would highly recommend her and hope to book her again soon. Thanks again Kathleen!”

“We had a great experience with JoHannah! She was able to spend a lot of time with my 5 pets while we were away. She sent many photos and was quick to respond when we reached out. The house was clean and the pets were calm when we returned from our trip. Would book with her again. Thanks JoHannah!”

“Levon is amazing! My boy Melvin is very skittish and inclined to be fearful of new men, but Levon put him at ease right away, and Melvin was licking his face and trying to climb on him within minutes of our first meeting! I’m blown away by how Levon immediately knew exactly how to handle and communicate with Melvin—my guy is definitely a tough case with major anxiety and leash reactivity (which means 62 lbs jerking at your arm when our passing-trigger protocol fails to keep him calm), and Levon is literally the one and only person I feel comfortable handing the leash to as of right now. I was finally able to take a three-day trip without Melvin over Thanksgiving because of Levon—I hadn’t been able to do that since adopting him because he’s such a handful and has some special needs—and I was actually able to enjoy myself without worrying about Melvin! For him it was just a great visit with his buddy who took him for awesome outings to walk and hike, and quality time at the house where he received lots of love and attention. Melvin and I are so grateful to have Levon as our go-to now for when I want to schedule trips, and also as someone who can bring him out on adventures for extra exercise and stimulation!”

About: I have been taking care of other people's animals since middle school and just love getting to know your pets! Experience with dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats, and fish! Willing to take on pets with medical needs! I work 40 hours over 5 days days a week. I am typically away from the house from 9 am - 5 pm or 11 am - 7 pm. Depending on your location, I may be able to pop back to the house on my short lunch break. I am comfortable walking your animals on leashes, pushing them in strollers, using a treadmill, playing with them in the yard, or whatever else is your routine and preference!
“Bretta was the best sitter for our fur kiddos and took such wonderful care of them and our home. This was my husband and I’s first time using a sitting service and we weren’t sure exactly what to expect, but Bretta surpassed any expectations we could’ve had. She was so sweet and loving with our dog and cat, sent us daily updates and pics. She truly gave us peace of mind and let us enjoy our trip without the worry of if our fur babies and house were ok. We will definitely be using her services again!”

“Juna was great! She was kind and communicative and sent me photos/updates that kept me at ease while I was away. She took great care of my dog, cats, and house and I would definitely recommend her!”

“James is a joy. He took great care of the dogs and our home. We came home to a clean and tidy home. He took care of everything we had asked him to do and would highly recommend him again”

I highly recommend Jessica as a sitter. She was very attentive and sensitive to my senior dog's needs, and I felt very comfortable leaving her in Jessica's care. She is warm, responsive and responsible, and communicates well. She also left my house in great shape. I wouldn't hesitate to use her again.
Nellie was amazing! She watched our two dogs for two weeks, and we felt completely comfortable knowing they were in such good hands. We had told her ahead of time that we love getting lots of updates while we’re away, and she was wonderful about keeping us in the loop and sending pictures throughout the trip. Our dogs unfortunately had some digestive issues while we were gone, and Nellie handled everything incredibly well. She always let us know what was going on, asked questions when needed, and took such great care of them. She also handled an unexpected stressful situation with one of the dogs really calmly and responsibly, which we especially appreciated being so far away. She took them on walks every day, gave them lots of attention, and clearly cared about making sure they were happy and well taken care of. And somehow, after two weeks with our dogs, we came home to a house that was cleaner than when we left it! We really couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Nellie is responsible, thoughtful, caring, and great at communicating, and we would absolutely have her watch our dogs again. We’d recommend her without hesitation!

I had a great experience with Alice and highly recommend her! I have two cats who need a little extra care—an 18-year-old senior and a hairless cat with a long list of instructions. Alice took wonderful care of both of them and gave them lots of attention while staying overnight at my home. She sent me daily pictures and updates, kept up with their food and water, and I could tell when I got home that both cats were happy and well cared for. She also kept my home very clean and even started washing the sheets and towels before I returned, which was so thoughtful. I felt completely comfortable having Alice care for my cats and will definitely book her again!

I feel very fortunate to have found Rising! She took such great and loving care of my dog Lucy for me while on vacation for a week. Lucy is very nervous and has serious separation anxiety so it took a lot of work for her to warm up to a stranger in our home and Rising worked so hard to build trust and a relationship with Lucy. She shared daily updates with photos and took her on lots of walks. She also took great care to leave the house cleaner than I left it with a lovely note, fresh flowers arranged from the yard and calm music for our arrival (and for Lucy while she was alone!) which was amazing and unexpected. I will absolutely plan to use Rising again in the future. Thank you so much!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Asheville on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 667 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Asheville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Asheville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Asheville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Asheville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Asheville. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
