“Joy was absolutely wonderful with our dog! This was our first time having a dog sitter come to our home, and Joy made the experience so comfortable and stress-free. I could tell right away that Skye was treated with so much care and love. Joy kept us updated, took great care of her during walks, and was very attentive and thoughtful. We felt completely at ease knowing Skye was in such good hands. We will definitely be rebooking her in the future and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter! 🥰🐾”

“Lynn was a godsend for my family and took amazing and very loving care of our very active golden doodle. I would not hesitate to rebook her again. She’s very trustworthy, communicative and left the house in tip top condition. She’s so personable that I can see her becoming my friend.”

“Alexus did an amazing job with our girl, Hippie! She stayed with her while we were gone for 2 weeks and she took excellent care of our dog. She updated us with photos and videos, and we returned to a happy and healthy pup. She is very sweet with our dog and make sure she got in her walks every day, even working around the extreme heat. Alexus also had to deal with some unexpected home issues (ant infestation, fallen tree branches, etc.) while we were gone, and idd a great job helping us and communicating with us throughout. I would highly recommend Alexus and Hippie can't wait to have her visit again!”

About: Hi, I’m Ruth! Dogs have always been my thing. I’m the person who ends up talking to the dog at the party before I talk to the people. 😂 I have over 12 years of experience caring for pets and have worked with everything from energetic puppies to reactive dogs who need a patient and confident handler. I believe every walk should be more than just a potty break—it’s exercise, enrichment, and quality time. I genuinely love getting to know each dog’s personality, and I take pride in creating a safe, fun, and trustworthy experience for both pets and their owners. I fall in love with every dog I meet, and yours will be no exception. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I genuinely love spending time with animals. I work part-time, which gives me a flexible schedule for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting throughout the week and weekends. I do my best to accommodate each pet parent’s needs while making sure every dog gets the attention, exercise, and care they deserve. currently provide care in my clients’ homes and neighborhoods rather than my own. I understand that many dogs feel most comfortable in their familiar environment, so I’m happy to come to you. Safety is always my top priority, and I take the time to learn each dog’s routine, personality, and needs. I’ll keep you updated along the way so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.
“Monica was amazing from the beginning to the end! Super flexible and open to meeting when the schedule works best for both parties. She sent multiple photos and videos daily which was perfect when we were missing our bud. She even taught our old dog a new trick! Highly recommend her for anyone and would certainly reach out again to have her take care of our dog for us! Thank you!”

I have a fenced in yard with no other animals in or around us. I had my 2 dogs for 14 years and am comfortable with most anything your pet will need. Medicine, exercise, crating
“Estela was very professional and friendly towards our dog. Somehow our dog instantly bonded with her and even though he has separation anxiety, with Estela he was quite comfortable and calm. I would like to request her service again.”

“Awesome service we’re very happy with the way everything went. Tiana was very communicative and sent us pictures. She took the dogs out for walks and fed them on time and gave them their medication and of course gave them all the lovin they needed while we were away. We were very happy with her service.”

“Juliana was such an amazing housesitter. She took fabulous care of my little cat as well as left my place looking better then when I walked out the front door! Juliana was thoughtful in her updates to me about how my kitty was doing. I highly recommend her.”

“Elizabeth was absolutely fantastic! She was prompt, attentive, and detail-oriented, quickly picking up on our cats’ unique personalities and making them feel comfortable right away. She followed all instructions exactly, provided thoughtful and witty updates that gave us real peace of mind, and communicated clearly throughout our trip. Not only did she care for our cats as if they were her own, but she also left our house spotless. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter.”

“Mingming was incredible! We needed her to make a house visit while we were away on vacation, and she made sure to visit our pup at all the right times of the day for play, feeding, and check-ups! About: I have grown up around animals my whole life, including caring for cats and dogs. I’ve helped care for family dogs and raised my own cat, Salem, since he was a kitten. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, playtime, cleaning, giving attention, and creating a safe and comfortable environment for pets. I treat every animal with the same patience, love, and care I give my own. I am currently home for the summer with a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to pet care. I can provide regular check-ins, playtime, feeding routines, and companionship while making sure each pet feels comfortable and cared for. I prioritize safety, patience, and creating a comfortable environment for every pet I care for. I follow each owner’s instructions closely, respect their home and routines, and provide updates so owners feel confident their pets are happy, safe, and receiving loving care.
“I was impressed by the glowing reviews on Yumi’s profile across multiple platforms—and she exceeded every expectation. With more frequent travel, I needed someone not just dependable, but someone who truly connects with animals. Her dedication to animal welfare is clear, which gave me instant peace of mind for Kento. From start to finish, her communication was detailed and reassuring. She followed my instructions carefully, went above and beyond with thoughtful photo/video updates, and even took initiative on things I hadn’t mentioned, speaking volumes about her conscientiousness. Yumi’s professionalism, warmth, and genuine love for animals truly shine. It’s a huge relief knowing I now have someone outside of family I can fully trust while I’m away. She’ll remain my top choice for Kento whenever she’s available. If you get the chance to book her—don’t hesitate. Highly recommend!”

“Amadita was AMAZING with our Bouzy! Incredibly accommodating and playful with her while we were away. It’s great to have a reliable sitter - will definitely book with Amadita again 😊😊”

About: Your dog’s vacation starts when you leave! I’ve been my family’s designated dog sitter for the past 8 years—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve cared for my grandma’s Maltese while she’s spent months in Mexico, and I’ve also loved taking care of my sister’s German Shepherd and Goldendoodle. Big or small, fluffy or goofy, I treat every dog like family (because that’s exactly what they are). Expect lots of love, playtime, and a few extra compliments. Fair warning though…your dog might come back with a new favorite human 🙌 Currently in between jobs so definitely don’t mind spending my free time with dogs. Could do part time or full time if needed right now. I’m big on cleanliness indoors or outdoors, fitness/fun activities since I’m a fit person myself, and just enjoying quality time with any dogs
“Grace did a fantastic job! She sent many pictures of the pets, and we were very comfortable and relaxed while she was watching the pets. Grace kept in contact with me frequently, with any questions or concerns. The pets were very happy in the videos that she shared. We will definitely use her again.”

“Took great care of my pets-took them on lots of walks and cuddles! Gave me updates about them several times daily. Felt like my dogs had so much fun while I was gone. Came home to cute little photos on the counter of all of them as an extra surprise! Dog person through and through-would recommend and use again!”

“Briana was great! We got a few photos and our animals seemed to have been well cared for. Our house was also taken care of. She was communicative and responded quickly. Overall a good experience!”

Elizabeth was AMAZING with our pets! My Maverick is not the easiest dog to come around as a stranger, but Elizabeth managed to establish a good rapport with him. She took notes during our first meet and greet which went a long way in giving us peace of mind while we were away. We came back to a spotless house, and she provided updates on the pets just the right amount… Not too often and not only when I asked. I am usually very nervous when I spend more than a few days away from the fur babies, but Elizabeth made it so easy to feel secure knowing my babies were in good hands. THANK YOU, Elizabeth! 10/10 will be booking again!

Austin is a very enthusiastic person for pet caring. He communicates very active for usual or unusual discoveries and very experienced in providing good support for our lovely furry family member when we were not home. Our dog loves him and you can feel his great passion when interacting with our dog.

Sookie had a great time with Catherine! Catherine was kind, professional, and followed our care instructions for Sookie to the tea. She sent lots of photos and videos that eased our minds while we were away. We will be booking with her again soon! Thank you Catherine!

Savannah has been such a blessing to our family. For the first time ever, I’ve felt comfortable leaving my 16 year old dog with someone and go on a trip with my entire family. I know my dog is well taken care of with Savannah. She is loving and caring which puts my dog at ease and she is on top of communication, putting me at ease. Thank you for everything!

Skylee was amazing!!! She was so sweet and caring with my cats and also extremely communicative with me the whole time. I felt super comfortable while she watched them and would highly recommend. She was very detail oriented too and knew exactly what my kitties needed while I was gone!

Vanessa was a wonderful house and pet sitter! She asked all the right questions and took such good care of our dog while we were gone. Our Paisley has a hard time being left alone and she was very considerate of that and even went the extra mile to get her to eat when she was being finicky. We received plenty of updates and she left our house looking as it was when we left. We'd book her again and our dog Paisley absolutely loved her! The cat Leela loved her too and she's pretty aloof!

Paola was right on time to pick up my puppy and sent me regular updates of everything. She accommodated my weird schedule and did it last minute with only one day notice. My puppy is only 6 months and has TONS of energy. Everything was fine in my home and she even cleaned up my puppy’s messes from being left overnight in the house..I. Would definitely use her services again.

Vivien did great with our hyper (and somewhat anxious) pup when we had to leave for a weekend. She communicated great with us & was patient & sweet with our dog, who can be a handful! Our pup absolutely loved her. She left our home spotless and we will definitely use her services more in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alum Rock walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alum Rock maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alum Rock choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
