About: I have lived with dogs since I was 10 years old. We are a family of dog lovers and our dogs are our babies. I have now been dog sitting with my partner since November and we have cared for multiple dogs needing different levels of care. We have received multiple bookings and positive feedback from all of our clients. We have our own dog who we care for and walk every day. We have lots of ideas of dog walks and also know what it is like to care for a reactive dog as our dog can be anxious around other dogs. I provide regular updates to you as an owner as I know how important this is for you. Every dog we have cared for has become part of our family for the short time we’ve had them and we always miss them and hope to see them again soon! I am looking to earn some extra money pet sitting and dog walking. As I am a primary school teacher this is something that me and my partner are able to do on evenings, weekends or school holidays. We are eager to fit in pet care at weekends and school holidays as it is something we really enjoying doing. We can care for dogs in our own home due to our dog being reactive he would not be in our home and would be cared for by my partner’s mum who shares the dog with us at her home. We treat your dog like our own and the safety of your pet is of paramount importance. We always think about how we would want someone to care for our dog when caring for your pets. Our pets are our babies and when your pet stays with us we welcome them in as a member of our family.
“Nicola regularly walks our sausage dog Clive , she is very reliable and always so lovely. We feel very lucky to have Nicola and Clive loves her! Clive has recently had surgery which has meant there’s been lots of extra requests we have had for Nicola during her visits and she has been so kind and accommodating every time! We cannot recommend Nicola enough!”

“Great experience. Mel looked after Harry in my house for a 60-minute drop-in visit. Did a meet and greet beforehand, responded quickly and kept me updated. Lots of photos of Harry too. Definitely recommend.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats and been involved in looking after them since a young age. We’ve had lots of rescue animals and so have lots of experience dealing with shy and nervous animals. I work locally and from home through the week and manage my own schedule so can fit in visits around home life and work so can be quite flexible. I have a fenced back yard and locked gate and our house is at the end of a cul-de-sac so very quiet. The house has plenty of room inside for pets to play or have time on their own.

About: I have experience of looking after 7 golden retrievers at one time. I love walking and have a clean and safe home which is dog friendly. About: We’ve had pets all our lives, dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals. We’ve rescued dogs and cats and had large strong dogs including a Husky and Mastiff X. We've had dogs from puppies to 16 years old. We have looked after high maintenance dogs and reactive dogs. Ray also has Marine and Tropical fish and offers holiday care. With a lifetime of knowledge and experience, he's the man for the job. I am self employed and work on a part time basis, I drive and am happy to travel and work at times that suit you. About: I’ve been caring for friends’ and family members’ pets for over 5 years, building up plenty of hands-on experience with both cats and dogs. I have a real passion for animals and I’m a proud cat owner myself. I love spending time outdoors, so I’m always happy to take dogs on walks, including longer, high-energy outings. At weekends, you’ll often find me out on hikes, which makes me a great match for active dogs who need plenty of exercise and stimulation. I take my friends spaniel quite often on long walks, have him for sleepovers and I love building a bond with dogs and fitting them into my routine. I’m reliable, caring, and treat every pet as if they were my own. I currently work full-time, but I’m looking for something else in my life where I can help out and spend time with dogs. I’ll do my best to be available if you need me at specific times, though I do work from 8:30 to 5, however I do have the option to work from home if needed. I live in a semi-detached terrace house with a fenced garden. The stairs are quite steep, so any dog allowed upstairs would need to be able to manage them. There are plenty of nearby walking routes, and I also have a cat who is comfortable with dogs once she gets to know them - so a dog with prior experience around cats would be ideal.
About: I adopted a rescue German Shepherd cross 2 years ago and trained him from 5 months old. I love all animals and feel they should have the chance to live life to the fullest. With me your dog will have adventures, fun walks and play, socialisation with my dog, and a cosy place to relax. I am a full time dog walker and boarder. I provide solo and group walks, day care and boarding to give you peace of mind and your dog the best experience. I have a fenced garden and lovely walks along the canal. Merlin (my dog) is here to keep your fur baby company. I have separate rooms for if your dog needs some space. Dogs are allowed on furniture for cuddles and lots of treats and toys for fetch, tug and chewing.
About: I’m not just a dog walker — I’m a lifelong animal enthusiast with years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, from tiny toy breeds to large working dogs. I’ve also owned and cared for horses, giving me a deep understanding of animal behaviour and needs. I’m a full-time dog walker, sitter, and groomer, which means your dog is my priority every single day — not just in my spare time. I’m also canine first aid trained, so you can feel confident that your pet is in safe, knowledgeable hands. Whether your pup needs patient care as a senior, extra guidance as a puppy, or simply a friendly companion while you’re away, I tailor my approach to suit each dog’s personality and needs. If they could use a pamper during their stay, I can also provide professional dog grooming for a fresh and happy pup. Pet care is my career, so I’m available 7 days a week. I work with your schedule to offer flexible drop-off, collection, and walking times. My days revolve around dogs — they always come first, and I make sure each one gets plenty of attention, exercise, and love. Grooming sessions can be booked alongside walks or sitting for ultimate convenience. Your dog’s safety is my number one priority. I have a secure enclosed garden and a friendly, well-socialised dog at home to provide companionship. We live just minutes from beautiful walking spots, and I choose safe routes that match your dog’s energy level and ability. For extra peace of mind, I can crate your dog if needed, and my canine first aid training means I’m prepared for emergencies. I also make sure to keep you updated with messages, photos, and videos so you know exactly how much fun your pet is having.
About: I have always been around dogs and owned them for all of my life. We had a family dog, Nellie, a staffy from a young age and now we have 2 Boston Terriers, Stanley and Arthur. I am happy and comfortable with all dogs. I have looked after spaniels, labrador’s, whippets and strong bulldogs. I am more than happy to take any dog under my wing! After recently returning from travelling and moving back to my hometown, I am currently only working a few hours a day. I am a true dog lover and looking to fill some of spare time with looking after other people’s dogs. I am a true dog lover and have built many friendships with dog owners as I love to be around their dogs! I like to think that looking after your dog is doing me as much as a favour as I am doing you! Having owned dogs all of my life I understand safety precautions and general care of dogs inside the home. I am a very neat person and respect other people’s homes.
“Fabiana is so kind and professional; our dog is quite anxious around new people in our home and Fabiana has been very assertive this week, getting to know Lara before her drop in sessions. We’ll definitely be using Fabiana again ❤️🐕”

“Alex was fab with Arlo straight away at our meet and greet, it was great to meet Jordan too when they both visited the house. Both clearly experienced with getting to know new dogs and what they need. Felt really comfy booking in after our meet-ups. Communication has been brilliant throughout and we got lovely pics and info from the first visit. Already booked our next pop-ins in 😊 Thanks so much for looking after him ❤️”

Nicky has been our cat sitter several times now. She’s always been very reliable and already feels more like a friend than a sitter! A very trustworthy person, flexible, professional and caring. Just the qualities people hope to have in a sitter. We are very lucky to have someone like Nicky look after our cat. Thank you 🥰

Sharon was amazing! She really took her time and gave our cat, Boris a great fuss and made sure he was so well looked after whilst we were away for the weekend. She sent lots of pictures and such a detailed message from each visit to him! She really made us feel completely at ease, I would recommend her to anyone! Will definitely be booking again xx

Great service always ontime and provided regular update and photos. This is the second time we have used Athina for regular drop ins whilst we have been away. I found this service to be a better option for me keeping my dog in his familiar surroundings rather than using kennels.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Chesterfield pet parents with similar pet households.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chesterfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
